I see a lot for sale for around £30 in the UK and wondered if they’re any good.

2025.01.24 19:50 Half-Gifts what worked for me / what acceptance really looks like
after dealing with my second stint obsessing over dpdr for just over a year and a half, i’m pretty confident in saying that i’m over it. there might be 2-3 days a month where i get sucked into a thought spiral, but i can be confident in my ability to get back to normal within a few hours.
both times i’ve dealt with this long-term, the initial dpdr was triggered by a period of obsessively doing internal check-ins to make sure i felt ok. the first time, in 2020, i was paranoid about catching covid and spent most of my day monitoring my temperature and symptoms. the second time, i was adjusting my ssri dosage and freaking out over withdrawal symptoms. in each case, i’d suddenly be overcome with a sense that my emotions, sense of touch, pain perception and desires were dulled or non-existent.
though i tried so many relaxation exercises and kept physically active during this time (these things did sort of help to an extent), the only thing that pulled me out of the panicked state for good was learning how to actually accept dpdr. a lot of well-meaning advice here mentions acceptance, which i always took to mean learning to live with numbness. that reading was only sort of correct, because my initial experiments with “acceptance” were more like acts of endurance: waiting out a period of supposed emptiness and numbness until some positive sensation or experience would pull me out of it. when i’d eventually slip back, i’d get so frustrated.
what i didn’t realize was that while anxiety and depression had left me feeling like i was numb and blanked out, the real issue was that i was perceiving it at all. while dpdr sufferers tend to romanticize their past, when they were supposedly in a state of constant bliss and intense emotion, they’re forgetting that their lives—like everyone else’s—were full of hour long classes they zoned out through, bland meals, disappointing movies that they half-watched, and times they hung out with their friends and weren’t really feeling it. they don’t remember them now because…why would they? those were just boring, uneventful moments, and weren’t worth filing away.
right now, you’ve gotten used to analyzing every piece of data flowing in and out of your perception. if you’re sick or stressed, you’re going to have some sensation to latch onto to explain your situation. but for most of the day, there’s not going to be a whole lot going on in your body worth noting. because you’re overanalyzing and attaching narratives to bodily functions you have no control over, maybe you’re reading this all clear message as numbness because you’re desperate for some sort of input. pleasure or pain would pull you out of your boredom and remind you that you’re alive. but once you feel either of these things, you’re going to calm down at some point, waiting for the next notable event to happen. we remember interesting stuff, bad or good, because it catches us off guard! pleasure-seeking when you’re desperate to feel is like trying to tickle yourself. it doesn’t work. what you need to do is recognize what you’re feeling now (in your body) as the default state you’ve always been in, albeit maybe a little more stressed. your brain and beliefs are out of wack here.
take a leap of faith and accept that there’s a possibility you’re wrong about the way you’re perceiving your situation. it’s tough to admit you might have been wrong about the situation, especially when the message takes some time and reminders to actually sink in with your brain. but as you allow yourself to let go of the obsession and get over the fear that you might have wasted your time being a bit delusional, you’ll start thinking about other things—or nothing at all. actually doing things and being okay with feeling blah will open your attention up to something other than doomscrolling subreddits. it was tough and embarrassing for me to realize this was all just a byproduct of anxiety and ocd, but at least i’m not afraid anymore! i’m the same person i’ve always been, with familiar likes and personality traits. i just needed to accept that, even if it meant being bored sometimes.

Fiz o Enem e estou concorrendo a uma bolsa 100%, e a modalidade Semipresencial seria a que mais se encaixaria para mim em um curso. Hoje fui fazer a escolha dos cursos no ProUni e nas duas opções de curso que eu escolhi, as únicas opções são 100% EAD e/ou 100% presencial no turno NOTURNO. Eu não gostaria de fazer 100% EAD porque eu me dou bem com a experiência em sala de aula e trabalhos em grupo, então optaria pelo 100% presencial, porém, como eu disse, só tem o turno Noturno (e eu moro longe da faculdade, teria que pegar ônibus para transporte e não tenho informações do quão seguro isso seria kkakakak, levando em consideração que minha cidade não é a cidade com paradas de ônibus mais seguras), FORA QUE, teria que preparar meu psicológico e me acostumar a estudar a noite, pois, sempre fiz isso e faço pela manhã ou a tarde. Tô com receio de que, caso eu escolha o turno noturno e seja aprovada, me arrependa. Quem já estudou/estuda no turno da noite, qual a opinião de vocês sobre??? E quem faz EAD, é de boa ficar sem a interação com os "colegas" de turma e professores pessoalmente? Gente, porque o ProUni tá investindo mais em vagas EAD do que em vagas presenciais/semipresenciais em turnos diurnos (ou é apenas nas minhas opções de curso nessas faculdades que isso está acontecendo).
