A US Marshal (Michelle Dockery) is escorting a reluctant witness (Topher Grace) to trial to testify against a mob boss when it transpires the pilot (Mark Wahlberg) is not who he seems. With potential betrayal at every turn, the two are left in a desperate struggle to make their way to safety.
The film itself - ★★★☆☆: This is a deliberately throwaway thriller with a strong nod towards comedy. It doesn’t set out to be a masterpiece, and isn’t one, but for the most part is amiable fun. The runtime is a scant 91 minutes and yet the middle of the film drags a bit, with a slack in the action and not enough thematic depth in the plot for the dialogue alone to keep things going. Mark Wahlberg is clearly meant to be the star attraction here and while he puts in a solid performance, he’s not as mesmerising as the film intends - his character gives kinda evil bargain basement Ryan Reynolds vibes. The film writes some quite ambitious cheques regarding off-screen characters and events that it inevitably struggles to cash, although the ending just about keeps things together if you don’t examine it too closely.
The 4DX experience - ★★★☆☆: It feels like an ill-omen when the first 4DX effects in the film are based on someone microwaving pot noodles, like the programmers went “Oh my God, there’s nothing to 4DX in this! Quick, 4DX the microwave scene!” Fortunately, the 4DX experience turned out to be perfectly OK.
As you’d expect from an airplane-based thriller, seat movements and vibrations make up a big portion of the effects package. Through large chunks of the film, the seats vibrate and shake along with the plane’s movements and there’s some fun seat movement during the more drastic scenes. I was a little disappointed that the background plane vibrations came and went. Sometimes it felt like the 4DX had forgotten the film was set on a plane. You’d have segments with no vibration but the plane would be audibly jangling about in the soundtrack. I wonder if this is a health and safety thing. There are 4DX films with a ton of seat effects but from memory even the Twister films have rest periods. Perhaps there are potential health implications if you have non-stop vibration for 70-80 minutes. There are a few good dramatic flight-based sequences for seat effects (the climax is particularly good) but they make up only a few minutes of the film.
In terms of other effects, I surprisingly have no recollection of wind effects. Scent is used very sparingly - there’s a sea smell when a shipwreck briefly appears but that’s about it. There’s a moment when one of the characters announces they’ve wet themselves that I thought the weird sweet smell might make an appearance, but no. There’s bits and bobs of water but nothing that’s an especially great demo of the effects. A couple of times there were small smoke bursts at the front to represent the clouds or smoke consuming the screen but they looked small and sad and did quite a poor job of merging the auditorium with the screen.
Overall, the 4DX experience is not bad at all but I was disappointed with the relatively inconsistent use of effects given there was narrative justification to use them almost constantly throughout the film.
Conclusion: This is OK as a bit of throwaway fun. But the action lulling in the middle means the 4DX also lulls - if there were a couple more action sequences towards the middle, the film would have been more consistently entertaining but also a better 4DX showcase along with that.
This is a bit of a stretch at full price. For the Unlimited uplift, it’s a bit more of an acceptable proposition as long as you’re aware you’re just getting some light nonsense out of it. Although the 4DX isn’t perfect, I can’t really imagine watching the film without it and would suggest either uplifting or not seeing it at all. If you only want to see the best 4DX experiences then sit this out.

2025.01.25 00:20 Clxver_Bunny My boyfriend gets a nosebleed everytime I'm about to start my period, is that normal?
I'm on Nexplanon and have had very irregular periods my whole life. When we first started dating 2.5 years ago we used to joke that his nosebleeds where "sympathy periods" since they always happened so close to my period. A little over a year ago was when we noticed there was a pattern to his nosebleeds, with them happening around 24 hours before my period (specifically the bleeding and cramping) started.
For the past 11 months his nosebleeds have been able to predict my periods almost without fail, to the point where he is able to more accurately tell when I'm about to start my period than I am. The only time he didn't bleed before I started my period was last week when I had spontaneous breakthrough bleeding less than 2 weeks after my last period, and even then his nose started bleeding around 3 hours after I started bleeding.
I haven't been able to find any information on why this could be happening. All I've found is reasons why my period could be causing a nosebleed for myself, no mention of it causing other people's noses to bleed. I just don't really understand HOW this can be happening. He doesn't get nosebleeds outside of the period warnings, and they even happen while he is at work. My periods are super inconsistent (ranging from 2 weeks apart to 3 months apart on average) as well, so it's not like he's just getting a nosebleed every 3-4 weeks and it lines up that way.
Currently, my best guess is a bog witch cursed our blood or that we're just super weird freaky soulmates (we also have near identical birthmarks that look eerily similar to the mascot of the game we met on, fun fact). Is there any non bog witch reason this could be happening? Is it just a really weird pattern of coincidences?

2025.01.25 00:20 martsimon Install drivers without integrated graphics?
My CPU has no integrated graphics so I can't just run that to windows to install them. I can't preinstall the driver because for some good forsaken reason it requires the card to be installed to install the driver. I have installed an old Nvidia Quadro card as a second GPU which doesn't require power and I get into windows that way, but windows and the Intel installer are still not recognizing the Intel card since it's not what I'm connecting to the monitor with I guess? It doesn't make much sense to me but I guess I'm used to NVIDIA cards that don't require so much rigamaroll. I do have rebar enabled and the latest BIOS on my board. At this point I don't really care about performance I'm just trying to get the damn thing to work. Should I run Ubuntu on a USB to see if it's an issue with the Intel card?

Ohio State claimed their 2nd championship in the CFB Era, winning the first 12 Team playoff exactly 10 years after winning the inaugural 4 Team one and it would appear that, after suffering through his arch-rival's win one year ago, BuckeyeBall is fully embracing the hate... also, quit encouraging him, Sparky!
Speaking of suffering, PSU is spending a second straight offseason watching a B1G rival celebrate a championship, leaving him in a rather apocalyptic mood... that sombrero is badass though!
Though it took place more than a month ago, Lane Kiffin's antics on Twitter during the opening round of the CFP are far from forgotten... though I have to say it's tough to fully hate on someone with such a stylish new pet...
and, following a feisty Citrus Bowl, it seems as though Illinois is still trying to ruffle Cocky's feathers!

I met a girl, let's call her F (24) last month on seeking. I was visiting my home city at the time and she was an international student who had only been in the country for 6 months so in the 3 dates we went on I took her for quite an experience throughout the city. I'm talking about spa days, benihana dinners, drinks on a skyscraper rooftop watching the sunset, the works. All with PPM of course, much higher than the local standard (before you message me, this is not in a HCOL area, more VLCOL) and we talked about moving to an allowance when I'm back. That is to say, I really liked her and thought she had the same feelings towards me.
I had to leave the country for a month just before Christmas but she deleted her seeking account (which I verified through a burner account) and promised we'd see each other again when I'm back in February. On the last day before my 2am flight we met up for dinner, had sex and just cuddled for 3 hours, just talking.
We've been texting lightly to each other (not everyday, just every now and then) when last week she drops this bombshell:
Hi sorry for the late reply, i met someone and its kinda soon but i wanna wait and see where things go before i meet with anyone else :) hope you understand!I told her I was quite disappointed as I was looking forward to more midnight chats, but I wished her well and that I would only curse the relationship a little bit. But a part of me wonders if I should push abit before I get there?
The thing that's making me wary is that she is very much happy alone. She's only had one long term relationship before and have not ever lived with someone else. She goes on solo journeys all the time (one topic of conversation was how to avoid men on these journeys lol). I'm a fellow super introvert so I was thinking that pushing for it wont be received well.
On the other hand, I really would like a relationship with her rather than just meeting casually. So perhaps she got the wrong idea on our meets and so if I make it clear that I'm also open to a relationship, it may help my stance. What are everyone's thoughts ?
