In general, some adjectives go with certain prepositions, but some adjectives can go with more than one preposition (and context will determine which preposition fits better, though in many cases the use of one preposition doesn't rule out other prepositions, as the meaning doesn't really change). Ma_linka, the rule you quote in #3 about compare to and compare with may well reflect majority usage. However, I rather doubt that most native speakers would be able to describe this rule, or that they are even aware of it. A female native speaker once told me this: She has difficulty with swimming. (Use preposition "with" with "difficulty" only when the thing after it is a gerund - "swimming" in this case.)  | I have started to work with the TCD1304 CCD sensor (2nd picture) since I have some project ideas with it. The sensor outputs voltage from about 1.5V to 3V3, depending how much light hits its surface. I first wanted to flip the signal (so that more light = more voltage rather than vice versa) with a differential amplifier, which worked. Then i wanted to amplify the signal with a non inverting amplifier so that the max voltage (fully saturated sensor) hits the 3V3, however then the output of the differenciator went to straight garbage. The circuit works perfectly on a simulator (as shown in the picture), however on a breadboard it doesn't. I am certain I wired everything correctly. I am using the LM2904 op-amp. I'm looking to build a Linux-based PC that can handle the following use cases:
- Run LLMs (using Ollama). At least "medium" sized models (20-50 billion params).
- Run video-heavy apps like Immich and Jellyfin. With the ability to transcode 4k videos reasonably quickly so things don't buffer forever.
- Play recent AAA games at high settings (Cyberpunk is a good benchmark I guess). Raytracing preferred if within budget. Games would run via Steam Proton for compatibility.
- Play VR games via Envision (Monado + WiVRn). Mainly Beat Saber.
So my GPU-related questions are basically:
- How is recent NVIDIA compatibility with Linux? If it's not great, are there comparable alternatives?
- Is this even a good time to be looking, given that 5000-series cards will be out soon?
- Can I keep using Fedora 41 out of the box, or are there specific distros/modifications needed for NVIDIA?
I'm in Canada and my budget is $4k CAD (I could go higher but I'd really prefer not to). The budget doesn't include peripherals since I'll probably just use what I already have and upgrade in the future (I'm a console controller peasant anyways).
Any help is appreciated!
