i spoke with my neurologist this afternoon funny story he's known me since i was a kid. we have decided to due my dystonia just getting worse even with afo's, Botox, trigger point injections, physical therapy, 3 different muscle relaxers to go ahead and do the baclefon pump trial, he'll be calling me Monday to schedule it so it'll probably happen quickly. everyone's obviously different but if the trial works we will be going forward with getting the permanent pump placed. the other thing is if the trial for the pump is unnecessary we'll be seeing if im a candidate for deep brain stimulation which is a major surgery. my neurologist is actually talking to his partner over the weekend to see if he think deep brain stimulation is a better option for me considering im terrified of my right side ( my good side) getting weak. Im honestly terrified bc either way I'll be getting one of these surgeries this year. since my appointment I've been non stop thinking about this stuff. im supposed to be going to Florida in like a week and now idk if i should bc of how bad my dystonia is.

Getting an email from rivian on cold weather tips that suggests turn on recirculation when it turns off every time I leave the car is... Frustrating. Down to 1.02kw/mi over the last 138 miles driven. Why is the default behavior sucking in and heating 7 degree air that you have to override. End rant.

2025.01.24 23:51 nolenole Huge fire elemental - frustrating moment
I'm sure it's a simple mechanic I've overlooked, but as I've been coming across huge fire elementals in the OC in chapter 2 they've been a huge struggle. Everything else has been a breeze, but these things basically won't take any damage with my Astral Blade +1. It's just the bonus sonic damage that does damage and I managed to kill one solo like that, but I ran into a situation where there was one of them with a bunch of other enemies and I was completely helpless despite all my paladin buffs.
So I took to Google, and a forum post from 2002 (shoutout to Nerull and Aelia Jusa) suggested using a +2 weapon. Luckily, I had picked up a +2 longsword and held onto it for future upgrading, no plans on using it because my Astral Blade +1 was better in every way except for +1 to hit and +1 damage... right?
So why did this +2 longsword demolish the huge fire elemental immediately? Isn't it just 5% more chance to hit and 1 more damage? What am I missing?

Hit a deer yesterday morning, started the claims process within 30 minutes. A few hours later someone called me and went over everything and mentioned the possibility of a total loss but the actual adjustor would reach out to me today to arrange the inspection. Today I received the call and they ended up setting up a tow truck to come and pick the car up and told me to clean the car out and remove plates etc. Seems really fast to just total it but I’m kinda wondering if since they told me to get everything out of if that’s a pretty good sign it’s a loss? They’re taking it to one of their lots and skipping going to my preferred local shops which is also one of their recommended shops in my area. Overall the car does significant damage but it’s not terribly old ‘21 model Toyota Camry Thanks for any information just trying to ease my mind during the crappy situation

My boyfriend works in a department store in New Jersey where there is no sales tax on clothing. In November there was a contest that he won and his prize was an expensive coat. Not long after redeeming the gift, he received his paycheck and noticed a strange tax which turned out to be him being taxed 22% on the coat.
I understand that there are different laws about “gifts, prizes, etc.” but am confused as to how this could be possible since it is not an item that is subject to sales tax in New Jersey. They didn’t give him the cash for it, they didn’t give him a gift card to purchase it himself (supplemental income). They simply ordered the correct size to the store and gave it to him. No one paid taxes on it up to this point (except for him out of his paycheck).
Is this somehow correct? How does tax work when it comes to a gift that is not subject to sales tax?
