Hello, good people of Reddit!
I am still new to being active (I had an account but didn't post or comment much if at all, until Thanksgiving 2024). I had not realized how much of a difference there is among subreddits. That makes sense of course.
For those who are interested in urban hiking, i.e., everyone here, it might not seem insane that I have tried to walk to airports before a trip, essentially rucking (carrying a backpack, which is all my luggage). That is generally very difficult, because airports are not designed to permit folks to enter or exit on foot. There are exceptions, e.g., at LAX you now can follow signs to depart. People had figured it out to get to the In n Out Burger on long layovers. There is something else I have done more than once: hiked from where I am to a mass transit stop, then taken that mode of transportation to the airport. I've done that with the Glen Park BART to SFO and from where I live in Queens to the AirTrain station to JFK. Why do I do this? I want the exercise before sitting for five plus hours. The SF route takes me along Glen Canyon, and it's beautiful. The NYC Queens route takes me through neighborhoods some would warn of, but I have had no issues with.
So here is what I learned about Reddit. In the subreddits not dedicated to walking, hiking, running, or that are anti-car, people express sentiments ranging from mockery to hatred about the very concept, and it's just a litany of negative sentiment. But in the subreddits such as this of folks who want to use their own feet to get around, and who blend the practical with the pleasurable, people share stories or at least appreciate the idea.
I don't judge anyone. I used to be, for 40 years of my life, just disinterested in what I now am passionate about: everything related to being a pedestrian. I lament for my earlier self. I suffer few regrets, but I should have walked much more in college, at least to get to class . . .
I thought I'd share that.

Casting was on point Acting was really good The ending didn’t suck and wrap up really nicely

Not sure how to describe what I’m looking for because it feels oddly specific. In general, I love alternate universe/ timeline stories with strong characters. I’m not sure if you’ve ever seen or been in the Meow Wolf exhibit where you are in a grocery store that looks familiar, but once you look closely, everything is slightly… off. The “other world” in Coraline knocked my socks off when I was younger. I love that subtle, sinking, eery feeling that earth-but-something’s-not-right setting has. Any recommendations on books like this?

I got a transparent vinyl rubber case for my R12 and it feels too stiff. I doubt it offers much protection if I were to drop my phone. Today I actually dropped my new R12 on my carpet (thank god it's only carpet) so I'm looking to buy a quality case that'll truly protect the phone from drops. Can you recommend one?
While we are on the topic, I wonder how tough this phone is from impact? Please let me know how your phone is now if you have dropped it in the past. I understand if you drop it hard the screens can get cracked. I'm more interested in knowing about damages that might not be evident right away, but might emerge after awhile due to the drop.
