2025.01.30 22:17 yosoyos Is it viable to develop an AI accelerator by using an FPGA together with VRAM chips?
I know it would probably be limited in comparison with a more general purpose modern GPU with a small nm process and maybe not as energy efficient but maybe with clustering multiple units something decent can be achieved and be price competitive for a specific use case like LLM inference. What would be a good approach to develop something like this? Any chip recommendation or insights?

2025.01.30 22:17 Bierkippe Akko Mod007B HE - input problems with non-stop rapid trigger function
Hello everyone,
I bought an Akko MOD007B HE keyboard in the middle of this year after a long search. Good alternatives to Wooting with ISO layouts are very rare, which is why my choice fell on an Akko. I am extremely satisfied with the build quality and couldn't find anything comparable in the prebuilt category. The software is just about tolerable. What bothers me about this keyboard, however, is the driver. When testing the rapid trigger function, I noticed that the keyboard has severe input problems. Among other things, the keyboard starts to flicker with the RGB when using the knob. This makes a key feature of reverb effect keyboards virtually unusable for me.
Since I don't have this problem without the non-stop rapid function, I categorically rule out broken switches and a defective pcb for the time being. Enlighten me if I am wrong.
Has anyone had similar experiences with the HE-series and maybe even found a fix on how to optimize the configuration? I am quite unoptimistic, but not hopeless. I want to use the keyboard, but in this state it definitly needs an update.

2025.01.30 22:17 TimoVuorensola Thanks to those uknown heroes at Showtime who greenlit Season 3.
Just thinking back on how extremely close it was that we would've never had Season 3 makes me really think someone should dig out those who finally greenlit the show, and those who fought to make it happen, and gave it an additional 9 episodes, and send them a box of jelly donuts. I mean, David was already walking away from it, because they apparently were not giving him the budget needed, and heprobably would've died just as happy, but oh boy we would've been left without one of the most seminal pieces of TV ever to exist.
So often we thank the director and the actors and the fans for their contribution, but I bet back at Showtime there must've been a whole crisis mood going down, and just as easily some bigwig could've just pulled the plug for good for it all, had it not been some executives, or lower ones, who really believed in Lynch's vision, since I'm sure financially it would've never been projected to be a sure shot, not by a *looong* shot.
Just a thought that flashed in my mind when going through Twin Peaks again.

2025.01.30 22:17 DoubleBooble My Take on the Nick & Natalie Miscarriage Episode
I watched last night. Here are my thoughts.
- Nick said he appreciates the support if people want to send them notes of support but he doesn't want any criticism. Since Nick has always said if you choose to post something then it's fair game for discussion I am going to give my honest assessment despite the pain. That was their choice to post.
- I felt like I was watching an abused woman at gunpoint. This was not OK. Natalie sobbed the entire time. 45 minutes of her in deep grief. This was not something that should have been put out there to the public. Not while they were in the middle of it. It shows how far their lives have gone down this strange rabbit hole. Seriously, it was not OK. Nick rationalized that they were being real and "raw." Natalie rationalized that "the only reason I'm doing this is for River." Something about how she can look back and hear how loved her sibling was. They said they discuss what things of their life to include on the show and both decided this would be a good thing to do to help other women.
- At the end of the episode when Natalie was crying for the second time about how hard it is to put on a good face, to do her job and pretend to be happy, to take care of River, and only be able to cry after River goes to sleep, she said, "So if I post an ad, click on it....I'm only kidding." Nick tried to recover from this by saying sometimes people use humor to get through trauma. That's a valid coping mechanism, or something like that.
- Natalie said she didn't want to flush the toilet and flush the baby down. Nick said the toilet was essentially just blood but he scooped his hands in and "picked up the baby." He congratulated himself multiple times for doing this and suggested as hard as it was others should do the same. That they could now bury the baby and give it a proper burial. No offense if others have done this but, eww, what? It was still some early tissue at this point. It must have been quite early in the pregnancy because her doctor told her maybe it wasn't the baby and to come in and be checked out. That got Natalie's hopes up. So the bloody tissue of the fertilized egg must not have looked much like a baby. They did not know it's sex. I understand how hard the loss is when you were excited and planning and your body was getting ready to have the baby but that was over the top weird in my opinion. Maybe it's a Christian thing? Nick really, really, really wanted credit for being so brave about sticking his hands in the bloody toilet and saving the "baby."
- There was a weird child (Natalie) parent (Nick) vibe. The way she talked about it and about Nick it felt very much like she was reaching out to Nick like he was her father, more so than her partner. When she said she loved him it felt like she was saying it the way someone says I love you to their dad.
- After the blood in the toilet, she screamed for Nick. She then went into the shower and Nick said that he went into the shower with her, and that all three, including River were in the shower. Is that weird? I would have wanted to go into the shower myself and grieve. Why was River in the shower with them?
- Natalie kept saying how guilty she feels for not being able to be a good mom right now or a good wife. Nick said, it's OK. This is going to sound super duper mean but it felt like she was milking it. I'm sorry for saying that but she talked about how hard it was to to work and do her job at the show and do all these things so Nick has to do everything. Why does she have to work? She works for her husband and (again, I'm sorry to be blunt) but the show can go on without her. If it's so hard to work and try to put on a good face while she is in the deepest most painful broken grief then why is she there? Go home. Go stay with your mom. Go to a friends. You don't have to go on the Viall Files.

Hey, I’m having a problem with the WiFi on my iPhone 15 Pro. No matter what I do, it just won’t connect to any WiFi network. I’ve tried restarting the phone multiple times, forgetting and reconnecting to WiFi, and even resetting network settings in factory settings, but nothing has worked.
Right now, I’m writing this from my iPad, which is connected to the same WiFi that my iPhone refuses to connect to, so the WiFi itself is definitely working. My iPhone hasn’t been dropped recently, and it hasn’t been exposed to water either.
I’m honestly out of ideas. Can anyone help me, please?

This might not be the right place to post, but I have a Chase related rant.
I have been so frustrated with Chase!! My dad passed away, and I am trying to withdraw the money from his accounts and close them.
The first time I went to the bank I brought all documents declaring the accounts are now in my possession, and an original death certificate. The woman I spoke with had to take down my information, and then gave me a paper to get notarized. No problem there. I bring the paper back with all the original documents. She informs me the paper was filled out wrong, so I had to repeat. I go back and the woman I had been working with was busy, again no problem. I told them I could wait for the next available rep and I was told nobody else knows how to close an account except for her, so I leave.
I return a few days later (with an appointment time) and bring her the papers again. It’s all filled out correctly, but now Chase has put a hold on the bank accounts. She tells me it will take a few days for whoever to release the hold, but then I have limited time before the hold is replaced. Again, a little irritated, but no problem.
A few days later she calls me at 4:55 on a Friday, I worked the following Saturday, and I miss the time slot. I return the following week and she says same process— she’ll call me when it’s released. It’s been two weeks since then and every time I call the phone number it takes me to customer service. If I call another location and get transferred to this branch, they hang up on me.
I finally spoke to a different branch, and they said they could get it all taken care of the next time I come in. Would I be able to retrieve all the documents from the first branch to bring to the other one? If so, I’ll do that, and finally be done with this mess.

 | I got this from a fred Meyers right as they got their restock. So it's straight from their contracted company. The seal looks very well done like a machine made it and it's tight except with the opening causing a tiny bit of slack on the plastic around the opening. Holy fuck no one tells you this. I thought the problem employees were difficult no one tells you the challenge of managing a superstar.
I hired a new employee a few weeks ago, He’s experienced, organized and is extremely eager to dive in. He’s already pointed out several pitfalls in our processes and overall has been a pleasure to have on the team.
The best problem I could ever have is this. He’s good really good therefore I find myself getting imposter syndrome because he pushes me to be a better manager so he can feel fulfilled. He really showed me how stagnant some team members have become. I’m really happy that I and this team have this guy around and plan to match his energy the best I can!
