2025.01.30 22:34 Alternative_Chip6821 Help

I messed up and mistook my catalyst karmic mate as my twin flame, and my twinflame as a karmic.Even tho my twin set off this entire journey of remembering my past, healing and love. My twin convinced me we were not soulmates and certainly not twin flames, after the bubble love phase(which was very short lived) I have recently realized I was right all along and his denial was a way to push me away and run. I've had many signs from God and i dreamt of this man years before meeting him for years. I knew things about him that he never told me becUse of those dreams like that he was from kansas and had an older brother with dogs and that he woukd change my life and turn it upside and rightside up again when i met him. That when we met, i would be able to breath for the first time. We have separated after some narly fights. Now I am dealing with the shame from the way I treated him in response to his rejection of me and thinking my karmic was my twin, especially when my twin is one of the sweetest people I've ever met( just scared of love). I am unfortunately still attracted to my karmic and have lost hope that my twin can ever forgive me in this lifetime. I feel like maybe we could have came back together over time if I would have just let him be and not responded the way I did. I know first I have to forgive myself, but some of things I said were just so nasty and even tho he abounded me, he didn't deserve it. Feeling as tho I've lost my chance because of my reaction has me in tears for days now. My ego took over and I just wanted him to feel what I felt. I realise now how wrong it was and even thoI knew it then too, I didn't let it stop me. Has anyone else dealt with this? Attraction to a karmic? Told their twin to fuck off and never return after rejection? I dream of my karmic so often and I like it, but I don't like that I like it lol and I know thats weird. Its just like some part of me is still attracted to that toxic relationship pattern. Any advice or how to move forward besides the usual try to focus on self?

Alright Brahs, I gotta kn0w how do3s your story taste? Like does it have crunch or is it bitter? What makes up your particular story's slop? Like you know, your tropes, how do you go from stale to new shades of beige? Mine is mostly tasteless and acidic with moments of hazy razzle dazzle. I think it works cuz the fellas in my story are stoners. I'm worried I need to add some texture to keep the audience interested but the earth is flat so it feels blasphemous to put any smooth round objects in it.
So anyway bros what does your story taste like?

In the lights of the recent chapter (1138) it just ocurred to me that the 3 ancient weapons + nika might be the 4 gods
Hell, the 3 ancient weapons are named after gods but I never really thought about that
This probably has been said before but I personally have never seen it. Whenever I saw people discussing the 4 gods they were like theorizing on which character can be each god (from greenbull being forest god, dragon rain or even chopper because of his fruit)
So we have Luffy as Nika, the Sun God
Imu, the Earth God, probably Uranus
Poseidon, the Sea God
Uranus, the Forest God

2025.01.30 22:34 I_Do_What_Ifs Universal Tariffs? - Universally Stupid?

Universal Tariffs? - Universally Stupid? Are Universal Tariffs an Economic Regressive Tax?
Do we have enough dunce caps to enact a Universal Tariff policy?
There are numerous snarky answers to this question; but besides the amusement that that might momentarily provide, there are some very serious aspects of this proposed policy. I don’t expect our politicians to be able to figure this out on their own. Sadly, I am not at all confident our politicians are capable of understanding any of the implications and consequences that follow from a universal tariff policy; even if they had someone moderately intelligent try and explain the implications to them. But to make matters far worse, it isn’t clear that even half the population understands tariffs and what they mean, are, and do.
If you are not sure you understand what tariffs are, do, and how they affect you; I would recommend that you take the Tariffs Tests in https://www.reddit.com/TheCritique_Economy/. If you go there, you will see that a tariff is fundamentally a tax. Now if you reject this as being true, just accept it as a fantasy for a moment. Sometime in the future, depending upon what happens with tariffs, you may experience something that people occasionally experienced throughout history. Sometimes the fantasy of yesteryear becomes the reality of tomorrow. After all, man will never fly, right?
So, in this fantasy, the king decides to enact tariffs in the kingdom. Many support this because they have been told tariffs will make things better. This trust may be reward; but it may not be and the outcome(s) could just as well be a punishment and things get worse. So, how do you know if the tariffs will be good or bad? More important, how does the king know; or does the king know?
Well, the tariffs generate revenues for the kingdom, and that means the king doesn’t have to impose taxes upon the population. Plus, the nobles in the kingdom want to king to reduce the taxes that they have to pay. Tariffs are just such a perfect solution. Unless that nagging fact that tariffs are just another name for a kind of tax. After all, there are many other names for taxes or types of taxes so that not everyone even knows that they are paying them. Just dropping the term ‘tax’ from their name. No one likes to pay income taxes, Social Security, business, capital gains, Medicare, Sales, Property, Estate, Unemployment, registration fees, licenses, and other taxes; including Customs Duties (some of which are known as tariffs). There are others but you are probably more than aware of that.
We will stay with the fantasy that tariffs are “TAXES”, if that make you more comfortable. But now I must deal with the really disturbing aspect of tariffs that truly upsets a lot of people. It is “who pays” those taxes. The fact is very simple in that it has a clear and unambiguous answer. I would argue that it has two clear, unambiguous, consistent, and essential answers that you ought to know. The first answer is that “you” pay the tariffs/taxes. The second answer is that whomever is importing the goods into the kingdom (even America) pays those tariffs/taxes.
The reason that there are two answers is quite simple. Taxes are just one process that is part of an economic system. And an economic system encompasses both every transaction that occurs at any given time and simultaneously integrates those transactions over extended periods of time. This duality is important because it ties together the two answers. The duality also helps in understanding that just knowing “who pays” is completely insufficient to truly knowing what those tariffs cause beyond the simple fact that “you pay” them.
But you don’t just pay for the tariffs, you also pay for the impacts that those tariffs produce. You may also benefit from the impacts that those tariffs produce. But don’t fall for the claim by the king (or the politicians) that “you are better off”, since there is no law of physics that requires that that be true. There are also no principles (or theories) of economics that require that you will be better off due to the tariffs. This is rather easy to prove; and if tariffs/taxes always produced benefits, even kings (or politicians) would know exactly what to do. So, why don’t they?
Let’s follow the two answers through the economic processes that play out.
First, there is the triggering event. The tariff (tax) is enacted and imposed. The rate is just simple math, so rather than a specific value, the word “tariff” will be used to both represent the concept of a tax and to stand-in for some percentage value/tax-rate.
The second event is that we now enter into a recurring phase of the tariffing process that happens every time new goods come in. From this point on, as goods enter the US (the kingdom if you need to remain in the fantasy) via its many ports of entry. The Customs and Border Protection entity applies and collects the tariffs/taxes on goods that have had tariffs imposed upon them. Those tariffs/taxes are paid by the party receiving and taking possession/ownership of those goods. If you are such an owner, you already know this and that you are paying those tariffs.
The taxed amounts are collected and entered into the treasury as revenue for the government to use for its operations.
This second phase continues to cycle as long as the tariffs/taxes remain in effect.
Remember that duality aspect of tariffs/taxes? The tariffs get paid at moments in time, just like you take breaths at moments in time. And just like breathing, other things, many other things, follow from those breaths. A third process begins in parallel with the enactment of the tariffs and the collection of the tariffs. Note: There hopefully has been lots of planning and preparing for the tariffs/taxes in every step, phase, and parts of the economic processes that exist.
This third phase is how those tariff/tax costs flow into and through the overall economy. The threads of costs from the tariffs become more and more complex and intertwined with the rest of the economy creating the fabric of that economy. The tariffs/taxes are basically a ‘cost’ to the party/business importing the goods. And at this point, those businesses do the same thing for tariff costs that they do with any other cost to their businesses.
Businesses will try to reduce their cost. For tariffs/taxes this can entail many things. Businesses might seek lower costs from their suppliers, those exporting businesses in other countries. They may seek to have the tariffs/taxes reduced or eliminated, or to be given a waiver for themselves if not everyone else. Businesses would try to reduce costs in other ways: cut back on or defer growth or maintenance costs, increase productivity or reduce labor expenses, and of course pass the costs on to their clients and customers. Businesses may even consider reducing their profit-margins. I know that this all seems like a lot of work, and you can see how complex it may be. However, it is much more complex in the context of the “economy”.
In the “economy”, one business may be a supplier of other businesses. If a tariff/tax creates a cost to a supplier-business and that supplier-business has to or decides that that cost must be passed along to their client-businesses, we get a second-order impact from the tariff/tax. This supplier-business to client-business relationship can both repeat from the first business to the second, from the second to the third business, from the third business to the fourth, and so on. Now if you think, well that tariff cost just moves along and doesn’t matter, you may not have considered that that cost isn’t fixed to the original amount. If each business decides or must keep its profit-margin at a given level then as the tariff/tax cost moves from one company to the next there is a small amount of profit added to the costs that the next link in the process incurs as their cost. That continues until the cost reaches the customer: you. You pay each and every business’s little added profit amount plus the original tariff/tax cost.
This likely seems a complex process that tariffs/taxes introduce into the economy and our lives. However, this is just a part of the complexity that tariffs/taxes cause to play out in our economy. It’s far more complicated than just that you pay more for those things that are tariffed than you use to. Remember that economic fabric mentioned above? Those tariff/tax threads are more numerous then just in the direct-line costs as they flow from import through the businesses and ultimately to what you pay.
Tariffs may impact the spending that you or businesses can afford to do. If you need to buy a tariffed/taxed product then you have less money to spend on other items. This can easily reduce spending on other items in the economy. That reduced spending expands how much the tariffs impacts other products that have no tariffed content in them. Workers may need increases in wages due to the increased costs they have to pay for some products which can thus put pressure on the costs of products or services that they are employed to produce or provide.
Tariffs may eventually lead to domestic manufacturing of products which might be less expensive than those products when imported and tariffed/taxed. However, there is no guarantee that those products will be less expensive when domestically produced. There is not even a guarantee that the products can be domestically produced. Let alone at a lower cost.
Then there the impacts that enacting our tariffs can have on products produced domestically that will be tariffed when exported by the receiving nations. This can have a negative feed-back impact on our economy through additional threads of costs or of lost profits. There is a much more dangerous aspect of the damages tariffs can impose on our economy since this is not a simple two-party trade system. Our economy operates in a much more complex space than the king might think or be able to comprehend. Business / trade lost due to tariffs/taxes may never be recovered.
Hopefully, you may see tariffs in a clearer light. But that isn’t the end of the risks.
It’s possible that the reason for the tariffs is not just misunderstood, but that that misunderstanding imposes an even greater harm upon the population, or the majority of the population. The king will not be harmed, nor will those who protect or misinform him directly or indirectly. If the revenues that the king gets from the tariffs/taxes are needed to reduce other taxes that will benefit some or just a few of his nobles, the tax burden will be borne by those in the population that do not benefit from the reduced taxes on other items. Higher taxes on food items or energy products inversely affect the poorest most and the richest least. Business centric tax reductions don’t benefit everyone equally either; and they may or may not benefit the majority of businesses but only the very few largest corporations. But regardless of the disparities, the imbalances, and the potential biases on how tariffs are imposed; the ultimate result will be that “you” will be paying those tariffs/taxes.
If you believe that tariffs will produce more benefits than costs, then it is possible that eventually the tariffs might be worth the upfront costs. Tariffs don’t deliver their benefits right up front. The premise is that it is worth paying more now for a future lower cost. It follows a “no pain, no gain” view; but doesn’t guarantee the “gain”.
Universal tariffs/taxes are a bet that there will be eventual gains. Since they would be applied to everything, i.e., that “universal” thing, they affect the prices you pay for everything which feeds into that very complex chain of “cause and effect” events that weave the fabric of our economy. You will be paying more and more and the taxes will be hidden from you just because the complexity of the economy will obscure not just what you are paying taxes on, but how much tax you are paying.
If you believe that your politicians are capable of make all the intelligent and correct decisions on tariffs, I wonder how come they cannot solve even some of the simplest problems. If you think that the corporations will not just expand their profitability at your expense, I wonder why they have never done this before. If you are hoping that you will be better off and are trusting to the experts and governmental entities, I would remind you that “hope” is a terrible strategy and history has shown that you don’t trust the experts, the government, or anyone who doesn’t believe what you believe.
You may agree that it seems that “universal” tariffs/taxes are a bad idea. But you may also believe that some tariffs are good. I assert that “universal” tariffs/taxes are “universally stupid”; and ought to be resisted to the best of one’s ability. As to targeted tariffs/taxes, the question is not whether a tariff/tax is by default good or bad; because tariffs/taxes are not a thing which is inherently good or bad. Whether the consequences of tariffs are going to be good or bad, that’s the proper issue; and is the cost that will be incurred to deliver on the expected future benefits worth paying; particularly if there are superior and more beneficial options and strategies?
I’ll leave you with an old adage that you will recognize before you finish the phrase: “You get want you pay for.” Personally, I always think that there is some truth to this, but that it isn’t perfectly true. Sometimes you get conned, cheated, or you over-valued the thing purchased. I would recommend the adage’s corollary which I find much more reliable and appropriate.
