So it’s my older brother’s kid, and I’ve never been super close with my brother but we get along well. It’s also the first time I’ve been an uncle. My brother and his wife live a few states away from me, and we only see each other a couple times a year.
My parents constantly want to FaceTime them and see her, and love her a ton, which makes sense; they are the grandparents now. They asked me after work if I want to FaceTime her, but I’ve never liked FaceTimes, and find it really hard to talk with a 3 y/o through a screen, and didn’t think it was a big deal so I said no. My mom then says that’s really sad, and that I should want to talk to my niece, but idk I just don’t have the same love for her as they do. And they make me feel guilty for not wanting to call. AITA?

I have feet that don't fit regulat shoes (i have a very straight toe and the rounded tip of most shoes presses against it and it hurts)
i always wanted to get converse-esque shoes and customize them, and i have just bought a bunch but every single one of them doesn't fit. i bought converse "wide" too, but nope, the tip is still fucking rounded.

Hi all! I'm a PhD student working in RL. Despite the fact that I work in this field, I don't have a strong sense of where it's headed, particularly in terms of usability for real world applications. Aside from the Deepseek/GPT uses of RL (which some would argue is not actually RL), I often feel demotivated that this field is headed nowhere and all the time I spend fiddling with finicky algorithms is wasted.
I would like to hear your thoughts. What do you foresee being trends in RL over the next years? And what industry application areas do you foresee RL being useful in the near future?

2025.01.31 00:51 ThatsShifty 2005 Subaru Outback cylinder 4 misfire help
Hello! I’ve owned this car for about a year now and have been trying to diagnose the misfire in the engine. It’s a 2005 Outback xt 5 speed manual with the ej255. There was no misfire when I first bought the car but within a week or two it seemed to pop up. I’ve replaced all the leaking air boots pre and post turbo, the intercooler, the PCV valve assembly, all the spark plugs and all the injectors and no luck getting rid of the misfire. I also did a compression test and had equal compression numbers across the board. When the MIL comes up it’s always misfire cylinder 4. I’m aware these do have a heat soak issue regarding specifically cylinder 4, and it can sometimes cause poor compression, but since compression is solid, I wonder what else it can be. Was wondering if anyone had other ideas as to what could be causing the issue. Never got a random misfire or other cylinder misfire codes it’s always cylinder 4. I’ve consulted a couple friends who work at the Subaru near me and none of them can find a solution either. Just a shot in the dark and last ditch effort to post and ask for help on here, but let me know if you need more information or have any ideas as to what could be causing it. Thanks
