You may notice purple stars aren't reachable by portal unless you've finished the quest to unlock them. However, once you've finished that quest, there is some additional weirdness you may notice. Here's the scoop.
There's a gap of unused system indices between the highest accessible non-purple star index, and the lowest accessible purple star index. For example in region 77-777-777, the highest non-purple star index reachable in the galaxy map is 0DB, and the highest reachable by portal is 0DA (due to the bug that causes the last index in a region to be a so-called "shadow system" according to some weirdos who created fake lore around this bug).
Now, you might expect the purple systems to then start at 0DC, however you'd be wrong. They actually start at 3E8.
Then the lowest reachable-by-portal purple star system index in region is 3E8 (portal address 1-3E8-77-777-777). You'll get a portal error trying to reach any star system in the index range of 0DB-3E7, but 3E8 and higher (up to some upper bound, which I haven't yet) is reachable. On the galaxy map, 0DC-3E7 do not exist.
That's what seems to be the case so far, although I haven't tried every system between 0DC-3E7, I'm assuming that there's nothing hiding in there.
For other regions, we've seen purple stars with indices in the 2XX range, so I'm not sure why region 77-777-777 seems to have a lower purple bound of 3E7. Will update this post with more details as we figure it out.

Big moment here. Not sure what to do.
So I’m in my first IT job. Official job title is IT Technician. It is a 100% on site in house thing. My boss is the only other IT person here out network engineesys admin. We have about 150 employees total. I do the normal stuff. Reset password, troubleshoot pcs, their network connection etc. but I also do the jr sys admin thing. Troubleshoot switch ports, Active Directory user management to include security permissions and so on. I also assist with network troubleshooting, domain management, VPN setup and management thru our firewall. And a whole bunch of other stuff. I just got a call from another job wanting to interview me. I haven’t called them back yet. Here is comparison between the two.
Current job (IT Tech/jr sys admin) been here about 8 months
Pro
•I’m not mico managed at all. I’m usually the only one on site handling things so lots of independence. • I get to work with a lot of technologies and things that isn’t typical for normal entry level IT role. (Switches, routers, access points, severs etc). • My boss is always eager to teach and train me on anything I ask about (when he has time). • I have lots and lots of down time every day. Time I’ve used to get some basic certs (Google IT Support, Google Cyber security). I’ve also self taught myself basic python. Loops, functions, dictionaries basic scripting etc. • Great schedule and I’m never expected to work more than my 8 hours (schedule is M-F).
Cons
•Commute, commute, commute. On a good day takes me an hour to get to the office and an hour to get home. More realistically takes me an hour to get to office and 1.5 hours to get home. Often closer to 2 hours in a particularly bad traffic day. •My boss is phenomenal towards me and my family. Me being off work never an issue, super flexible. Always eager to teach me new things. However this happens less and less now a days as he is so over worked and swamped. Because of which outside of my theory studies for things like ccna and security+ I feel like I’m slowing down progression wise and starting to stagnate a little(maybe a lot idk don’t have a baseline for comparison in this regard). Like I’m learning/ have learned a lot of everything but nothing crazy in depth. All surface level for most part. • Pay. While good for entry level first IT job at $23/hour( about 44k for a year at 40hours) it’s not a livable wage in my area. (Minimum wage is just shy of $17/hour). Like if something happened to wife I would not be making enough to take care of bills and daughter by myself. Whereas the wife would be just fine(she make 77k a year). • Due to company size and department size there is no room for position increase or pay increase either.
New company (IT HELP DESK TECH at a msp)
Pros
•Commute is 10 mins from my doorstep •Pay. Range provided is 50k-65k(starting, room to grow based off job posting). •Schedule is M-F occasional weekend •Larger company so not everything would be on just me and my boss to handle.
Cons
•It’s an MSP. And I have never heard anything good from anyone working for a MSP. •Doesn’t seem to have any more in depth job requirements so skill set level may not actually increase any. But the job duties don’t see as broad spectrum as my current one, although similar •I know nothing about this company so would be essentially starting over building relationship with company and coworkers •Possible need for occasional weekends which I don’t have to worry about at all currently.
Not sure what to do here. First time ever being in this situation.

I feel ashamed for the fact I have no life. I have nothing going on. I’m living at home and even my family tired of it. They constantly pushing me to go outside. Like getting a job, go back to college, make some friends and learn driving so you can independent on your own.
Yes I do want to go outside my house and do all this things but I’m too worried about what others might think of me. Because my main insecurity is my age. I feel ashamed the fact I have no relevant job skills nor do I have the life skills. My social communication skills as I seem to carry shame. I badly want to get education because I want a stable job. I did work in fast food, warehouse and retail.

2025.01.31 00:48 alohshine Terrified-Mom tested positive. My doctor immediately ordered me a test.
I had slightly elevated liver enzymes last year (AST was 41, ALT was 45.) At the time my doc said not to worry about it. I have fatigue and sometimes itchy but chalked it up to eczema and working a physical job. Other than that, no symptoms.
Fast forward to this year, my mom is having serious lung and liver issues. Shes always had asthma but lately its gotten really bad. Doc ran tests and diagnosed her with mild NASH and stage 1 NAFLD. Doc digs further and finds she tests positive for AAT (no phenotype yet.) How screwed are my mom and I?! I'm absolutely panicked for both of us and for my daughter 😞 I know my grandfather died of lung disease before I was born but I thought that it was because he was a heavy smoker 😭 My mom and I don't smoke but we do drink occasionally 😞
TLDR: I'm getting tested tomorrow and I'm terrified 😨

One of the strengths of learning an opening deeply, especially flexible openings, is the wide range of choices. There can be many tabiyas with many deep choices within them. It's pretty logical that you would want to take advantage of this flexibility and access to options. I also often hear strong players talking about how they have experience playing many different opening options even outside of their main tabiyas. But how much is too much?
That is the core of my question. Obviously everyone prepares more then just one option, but there should be a point where its too much and it become unpractical for non professional players. I am interested in what is a normal amount of alternate options is.
I do want to point out, I am talking specifically about alternate options within an opening, so preparation against different opponents ideas don't count. For example, Nimzo players must have a response against the anti Nimzo. Do you play the multiple lines in the QGD or do you play one line in the QID and one in QGD? Things of that nature. Thanks!
