2025.01.31 01:41 King-Crim How have you found a safe way to resin print in your bedroom? Starting supplies/jerryrigging advice request
Hello! So I've essentially decided on the 3d printer I want to start with using (Phrozen sonic mini 8k S if you're curious) however I do not want to purchase it until I have a list of everything I need to print safely. The problem comes from the fact that I am a college student renting a room in a somewhat old house (not dorms thankfully).
My bathroom is shared with a couple of my roommates who hoard counter space, so unfortunately having the printer or printing materials reside there isn't really an option for me, and as they don't speak English the best, it would be hard to communicate with them about it. There is a back patio that is shared, but there are no open electrical sockets, and it tends to get very cold very fast where I live, and while I do want to be as safe as possible, when I purchase it I won't have the money to spend on creating a outdoor printing center, plus it doubles as a laundry space and the washer+dryer are there. This leads me to the conclusion that for the majority of the work, it will have to be done in my bedroom.
Thankfully, my room all things considered is very spacious and has 2 relatively big windows that while I can open very easily, aren't secured the best and let a lot of air leak through, along with it being winter right now I've been told that directly venting fumes into a cold climate can cause issues. I have one desk for all of my computer stuff, and another for all of my crafting stuff (warhammer models mostly right now, but hopefully the printer soon) on the opposite side of the room. I do not have much experience printing with anything besides a cheap-ish layer printer in school labs. I've been told that I need a rubber spatula, gloves, resin (obviously) and most likely a way to contain and disperse fumes, ideally for most of my process, along with a bucket I can jerryrig with UV lights and a washing station with lots of washing solution. That being said, I don't know what I should be looking for to do this safely.
This is the room I spend the majority of my time outside of class in, and I doubt my girlfriend would like it to smell like resin constantly, along with worries of it spreading to the rest of my house worrying or causing conflicts with roommates. I know that some smell is inescapable, but having some prevention would be nice. Also, I've seen pre-made 3d printing chambers that cover the printer while printing, but what should I do about containing fumes after? is there a bigger option that can hold more things and I can work within? What kind of protective mask should I wear? And most importantly (not actually but it would be nice) how do I hook this all up to a window without it constantly being freezing or boiling depending on the season?
Any and all advice would be appreciated, the more details with recommendations for things to check out or ways to jerryrig the better. Thank you so much in advance!

I love wing stop but majority of the time I go or order online it takes at least 30 minutes to an hour to get food. Tonight my husband and I ordered wings on the app and we waited 30 minutes to pick it up because we knew it would take a while. When we arrived, it still wasn’t ready. I’m waiting for him in the car actually while he gets the order and it’s been about 35 minutes. Normally I would assume it’s the location but I feel like this is a normal experience at every Wingstop location I’ve been to. Maybe it’s the city I live in? Do yall have the same experience?

to start- i listen to lord huron ONLY. i dont listen to any other bands and the only other artists i listen to sre kayne and tyler SOMETIMES. i love this band with all my heart. i already got concert tickets for Berkely, and im saving up to buy a world enders jacket.
i think im so down deep into the rabbit hole that i cant get myself out of... and i love it here.
my main problem is that im a complete narcissist. whenever i see people talk about how much they love the band, or there favorite song, my brain immediately jumps to- "yeah but you dont like it as much as me." or "you dont get it like i do ". i would never say such outloud, lf course.
i love every part of the band but the narcissistic traits that its causeing on to me is starting to affect me for sure.
sigh just a little rant
