2025.01.31 05:55 sslothking Update: My End Stage Journey
Yesterday i had a POEM done to try to open up the sphincter more and promote better drainage. Quite sore the day after but emptying seems quicker than before. Obviously didn’t fix the sump that has developed.
Coming back to Mayo Clinic in 3 months to get a POPE don’t to straighten out my esophagus as much as possible and stay away from removing my esophagus for as long as possible because i am so young.
Things seem to be getting better finally as progress is being made. Hoping this POPE does wonders for me and can keep me going for years to come. Mayo Clinic is the best place to go for achalasia by far. If you have the means to travel, i highly recommend it. I’ve been to 4 hospitals since my original diagnosis and they’re the only ones i feel comfortable with their decisions.

Background:
On December 17, 2024, I submitted a permanent availability change via my workplace scheduling system (Legion). I requested to be available Sundays, Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 10:00 AM to 4:30 PM, and unavailable on Tuesdays and Saturdays. This change was set to take effect January 26, 2025. My manager approved the request the next day (December 18).
The Issue:
When the schedule for January 26–February 1, 2025, was posted, I was assigned shifts outside my approved availability. On January 25, I reminded my manager:
“Hey [Manager], I just looked at next week’s schedule. I can’t work past 4:30 PM starting January 26, as I have classes right after. This was requested and approved weeks ago.”
Manager’s Response:
- “Sunday you can’t work at night?”
- “If you have so many restrictions, especially on weekends, I’m not sure about your hours. You already asked for Saturdays off every week.”
- “If you can’t work weekends at all, I can’t promise your hours every week.”
I replied, “I understand,” and they followed up, “So you can’t work at night at all?” to which I confirmed, “Correct.”
Conflict (January 27, 2025):
Despite this conversation, the manager texted me on January 27 2025 asking where I was for a 12:00 PM–5:00 PM shift—outside my approved availability. 3 days later, on January 30 2025., I clock in for my 11AM-2PM shift. My manger informed me I was being written up for a “no-show.” I reminded them: “You had six weeks’ notice about my schedule change. I also reached out when the schedule was posted to clarify I can’t work past 4:30 PM.”
My Frustration:
- The request was approved over a month in advance.
- I gave a polite reminder when the schedule error occurred.
- The manager dismissed my availability, then penalized me for their oversight.
Questions:
1. Is this write-up justified, given the approved availability change?
2. Who/How should I address this with HR or higher-ups?
3. Has anyone dealt with similar scheduling conflicts after approval?
TL;DR: Manager approved a permanent availability change, scheduled me outside of it, dismissed my reminders, then wrote me up for not working the invalid shift. Need advice on next steps.

aight so with most of the deadlines passed, I've started to wonder what are the odds that i get rejected by all the 21 colleges i applied to.
fyi, im an international requiring a full ride and applied to mostly t30s and lacs (cuz they give more aid) so i think the chances of me getting in anywhere are minimal.
so keeping that in mind i wanted to ask how many of you internationals (requiring aid preferably) were rejected by all the colleges you applied to in previous app cycles? i think the number would be pretty high esp for ppl requiring full rides but let's see

I just found out about the new contract thing, it seems good so far and I hear that hoyoverse did urge to pay the VA's. Though I am suspicious (I recently returned to the genshin impact community), I do not want to get my hopes up because I miss the English VA's. I lack knowledge or know-how of any of the VA's socials, promotional accounts, or anything like that. Two years ago I went from 250lb to 180lb and then since October I’ve started going to the gym and feel I’ve made some improvements in muscle mass while going from about 180lb to 170lb (i’m 5’10). Im quite tired of dieting and I’ve had body dysmorphia while I was very overweight, and it’s remained after the weight loss. Should I lean bulk for a while to gain lean mass or lose another 10lb first? Thanks
