2025.02.01 20:41 Away-Definition3425 Business Trip Wines

First business trip of the year is in the books and Burgundy was the main attraction. We enjoyed some really good wines with clients across a few nights of dinner. The Sancerre was a pleasant surprise as well!
The 2021 Montille Puligny-Montrachet was easily the winner of the whites. It was crisp, floral, mineral driven. Everything you're hoping for in a white Burgundy. Multiple bottles were ordered.
The 2022 Corton le Clos du Roi Grand Cru was the winner of the reds. A classic red Burgundy, medium bodied with a little spice. Really elegant wine.
The biggest disappointment was the 2008 Antinori Brunello di Montalcino. It had an interesting balsamic like note. One of the guest loves everything Italian and said it was excellent. Glad one person confirmed as I thought it may have been bad.
Note: (Restaurant pricing) annotted. Were a lot of these wines overpriced? Yes. But, welcome to dining in one of the most expensive/luxury cities in America.

Hey everyone, I hate to ask, but I’m really struggling right now, and this is my last option. I need $60 to take my kitten to the vet.
My other cat just got back from the vet a few days ago because of a feline virus, and now my kitten is sick too. I really didn’t expect this since they were kept separate, but I was so focused on my other cat that I didn’t notice my kitten being weak and not eating as well.
I can’t afford another vet visit, but $60 should cover everything since I live in a third-world country where vet costs are lower. If anyone could help, even just a little, it would mean so much. I can send proof, receipts, or updates if needed.

Hey everyone, Recently saw that OpenAI is accusing Deepseek of using GPT-4 outputs to train their own open-source model. where do we draw the line on this?
On one hand, companies like OpenAI spend a ton of money training these models so it makes sense they'd wanna protect them. But at the same time if everything stays locked behind closed doors, doesn't that just give more power to big tech and slow down progress for everyone else?
What’s the general take on this? Should AI companies have stronger protections to stop others from copying their work or does keeping things closed just hurt innovation in the long run?
Would love to hear different perspectives!

I like National Geographic and will look for issues that peek my interest at used book stores.
My mom knows that I like them and told me she got some for me that she would bring the next time she visits. She brought an entire car full stacked in back seat, floor, front seat, floor, and truck.
It's the complete collection from 1950 - 2020 all organized in their official National Geographic leathet slip cases.
I dont want this entire collection and it is filling up significant space in my house and I want them out.
What is the best way to get rid of these? I dont want to throw them away, Im sure they are valuable to someone but no used book store or library will take them.
I might just throw them out but am considering selling them is ebay a good option? Would it be better to sell them as a set in the leather slip cases or individually?
I'm fine keeping some, I just dont want this many.
Are there any particularly interesting or valuable issues in this collection worth keeping?

Feedback requested! I have put a deposit down on a male ball python. I’ve asked the breeder to hold onto him until I’m comfortable with his set up.
I am going to let it run for 24 hours then check temps and humidity, then again next week. This is a 5x2x2, I have coconut coireptibark mix for substrate. He has 3 hides (overturned bowls from the dollar store) plus a 3rd ✨secret tunnel✨ at the front there that is open at both ends. I have a 75 watt halogen bulb and a 100 watt infrared heat projector (will adjust after I get temp readings) and a UVB bulb as well (I know there’s debate on UVB. I’m opting to go for it), all bulbs on a timer switch, 12 on 12 off. Let’s see… water bowl on the hot side, I have some silicone sheets arriving tomorrow to lay over the top as this is a mess top cage. Door locks are also on the way. I plan to get him a small log/branch to do some climbing and I have a full set deer shed I’m cleaning off to put in there as well (potentially something scratchy for him during shed).
I have overthought everything and would love some feedback from someone who isn’t agonizing every choice I make right now. 😂

IT still amazes me that in the newest episoad of Vita Carnis, the main character its a COMPLETE IDIOT. Okay, the chances of him to actually encounter a fucking ELDER mimic were low to begin with, but GOD DAMN this guy was unprepared as FUCK. No high end tech radio for communiaction or atleast Something mid-grade, and a fucking pistol with only one magazine... I KNOW THE CHANCES TO ACTUALLY ENCOUNTER AN ELDER ALRE SLIM BUT EVEN SO HE SHOULDVE BEEN PREPARED. The absoulte research potential they couldve gotten out of the Elder Mimic is absoulutely insane, just imagine the amount of testings they couldve made to figure out the best way to kill one , from what ive personally seen and think its that an elder mimic has around 3 layers of protective skin and îs around 2,5 - 4 Times a normal human. The other thing its that is mouth is his only weak point as his skin is tough and IT would take a shit ton of AMMO to actually kill him without hitting his mouth. The other thing its that the elder is actually afraid, IT didnt attack until he confirmed the fact he only had a pistol and no radio, If he did had a good weapon, lets Say a RPK, the monster would be absoulutely fucked or If he has a high end radio that could contact C.A.R.C.A.S and make them arrive faster would absoulutely benefit them more, nevertherless the main character was a fucking dumbass that completly missed an opportunity, my honest idea? Open the door and while the elder stills tries to lower my morale, shoot him 5 Times in the mouth (IT seems its unable to close his mouth) and that would absoultely kill him (i also find it very interesting in how the elder started mimicing him crying "why" and also him then starting to hum a song.
I just want to hear your opinions and how dumb the guy actually was.
