For me , back in 2018, I traveled out of the city to help a guy that I thought was my friend , he said he needed money to keep his lights on for he and his son, and me always wanting to help ppl and whatnot , I was willing to oblige.
So long story short , he and I went out for a walk, and his brother and their friend ended up robbing me at gunpoint , deadass put a gun to the back of my head and forced me to get on the ground and hand over my backpack , thank god they didn’t take my phone, or I would’ve been stranded. I’m 28 now, this happened when I was 21, and I’m still traumatized to this day

Tengo un amigo al que se le suelo prestar dinero, más que amigo a sido como mi hermano. Desde septiembre del año pasado empecé prestándole 500 varos, luego subió a 1000 y luego otros 1000. De todo eso no me ha pagado nada, y hace una semana me pidió cinco mil pesos, con los que se compró un traje que me comentó va a usar para irse a cantar a un restaurante y generar dinero. El lunes entra a trabajar a una pollería y hace como media hora me pidió otros tres mil pesos para ayudar a pagar una operación de su tía que tiene cáncer, pero la cosa es que a mí ya me había descompensado prestarle los cinco mil porque eso lo tenía ahorrado y pues yo no gano mucho en mi trabajo, 1000 varos al mes. Entonces ahorita que me pidió ese dinero lo pensé mucho porque en mi casa, de esos 1000 doy gasto y aparte tengo otras cosas por pagar. Se que era una emergencia me dijo, pero ser muy caritativo ahorita no puedo. Me dijo también que ese dinero me lo daba el sábado porque iba a duplicar la plata y ya iba a trabajar y hasta iba a pedirle adelantado a su jefe, además me argumento que nunca le ha gustado quedar a deber, pero la cosa es que yo igual ocupo ser más ahorrativo. Siento que se enojo conmigo y no se si me vaya a dejar de hablar o vuelva a confiar en mí, pues decía que era su único amigo, y aparte me siento mal porque no se los di, aún cuando me dijo que eran para la operación de su tía, creo que falle como amigo y como ser humano

This morning, I received an admission letter from York University. I’m an international student, and I’ve always wanted to study neuroscience. However, I was rejected from my first-choice school—not because I wasn’t qualified, but simply because I wasn’t a priority applicant. Instead, I received a scholarship for another program at a different university, which covers half of the tuition fees. That’s a big help. When my mom came home, I showed her the letter. She wasn’t happy. Not even a “congratulations.” Nothing. And honestly, I don’t even want to go to YU . I don’t want to. But still, getting into a university and receiving a scholarship, even if it’s not your dream school, should be something to feel a little happy about, right? Like, at least some kind of acknowledgment? But no. She just said, “We don’t want to go there.” And I rolled my eyes and told her, “Just say you prefer the other university.” That would have been fine. Instead, she got upset and snapped, “Don’t talk to me like that. We can’t afford it.” And that really annoyed me because I had spent months asking about the cost, worrying that it was too expensive. And every time, all they told me was, “Don’t worry about it.” Now, suddenly, it’s a problem? I told her, “You could have just told me from the beginning what our budget was, and I would have understood.” But then she got even more upset, acting like I had disrespected her.I tried to stay in my room and keep to myself. I didn’t want to cause more problems. I could have apologized, but the thing is—parents act like everything they do for you should be met with endless gratitude. Like, “Oh, I buy you clothes, you should be thankful. I buy you food, you should be thankful.” What, am I supposed to be naked? Am I supposed to starve? You chose to have me. That mindset completely frustrates me. Then, suddenly, she started crying and asked me what my problem was. I was just exhausted. I had multiple tests, and I was just tired—tired of everything. Tired of people taking things the wrong way. Tired of being accused of being disrespectful when I wasn’t trying to be. I don’t wake up every day thinking, Today, I’m going to disrespect my mom. Then she grabbed a suitcase and said, “Pack your things. You’re leaving.” She started taking away all my electronics, saying, “I bought these, so I’m taking them back.” She said I had to leave her house. My dad didn’t even understand what was happening. He just took me by the arm, dragging me across the floor. And all I could think about was—where’s my dog? I called her name, but my parents started hitting me, pulling my hair, tearing at me. They took my glasses, pushed me down, and kept saying they were going to tie me up and send me to a psych ward. I tried to fight back, but they hurt my leg, so I couldn’t even run properly.
Out of desperation, I got on top of the car. They couldn’t pull me out, so they called one of my friends. He’s Korean, not a native speaker, so he didn’t understand what was going on. When he realized something was wrong, he just hung up. That made my mom even angrier. She said she was going to his house to talk to his parents about his “disrespect.” But why? He’s just my friend. I don’t tell him about my personal life. Maybe he just heard her yelling and thought, What the hell is happening? Plus, he’s not fluent in French so he probably didn’t even fully understand what she was saying. Then they tried to force me to apologize, saying I had to beg on my knees. But I knew it wouldn’t matter. Even if I apologized now, the next time we had an argument, they would just bring this back up, listing everything I’ve ever done wrong. That’s what they always do. At one point, she even called me a witch. She shoved me down the stairs. My lip was bleeding. My back was aching from being thrown onto the floor. But when we argue, I don’t bring up past wounds. I don’t constantly remind them of the things they’ve said to hurt me. But they do. Every time. They say cruel things, then cry and ask, What did I do wrong? Then they try to make it about my friends, dragging other people into it. But at the end of the day, it doesn’t matter what I say or do. They’ll never let it go. They’ll never stop using my past against me.

 | Any idea what this could be? Just found this small rubber piece at the bottom of my gas tank while changing the gas over. Its solid and does not have holes on either side. My bike is a 19' slim and has been in for service and repairs several times so could be some shop junk that just fell in but I wouldn't think they would just have my tank sitting open for no reason.  | I couldn't find exactly what I want to ask in a Google search. I just got 6 salt and pepper corys a day ago. I've never owned corys before so I've been paranoid about their behavior. They'll swim around/huff through the sand like I'd expect. But a lot of the time they'll stop to rest in weird positions. Nothing too wild, but they way they do it at odd angles or like they're resting on something when they're just hovering above it at a diagonal slant....if a betta was resting like this I probably wouldn't notice, but I've never seen corys do it. They're very stop and start. Or if there's a group they'll all stop moving and like half of them will be tilted, and they'll stay like that until one starts moving, then they all do. They are responsive while they're like this, based off how difficult it was to get a pic of one + if I put tongs near one it'll swim off (but then usually stop and go back to sitting still). Tank is fully cycled/no spikes on water tests, and has been running with tetras in it for months. EE, 3 years experience - what pivots have you guys made out of consultancy/design?
Considering completely leaving to become a high school math/physics teacher instead. I'm good at supporting and caring for others - counselling, teaching or similar would be an ideal profession for me but I chose the wrong degree. and unfortunately these jobs pay terribly. So what pivots have you made out of engineering without doing more qualifications?
P.S Disliked MEP because I hated the pressure, office politics, repetitive projects and realised it's not even a stable job because several of my colleagues just got made redundant over the past year. Also don't love how little I get paid for the amount of overtime that is expected.
If y'all do Myers Briggs at all I'm an INFJ - so engineering is listed as the worse job for my personality lol.
