2025.02.01 22:55 Fine-Night80 Bought a Refurbished T580 off Amazon, Keyboard Often Doesn't Work Upon Starting. Is it Defective?
I've been using it for about a week and more often than not the keyboard doesn't work when the laptop is first starting up. The only thing that I've found fixes it is restarting. One time I had to restart the laptop 3-4 times before the keyboard worked. The laptop also shut down out of the blue once, and gave no diagnostics upon restart. This is my first ThinkPad. Is it defective? The Amazon seller was reputable and I'm still within the return window. Thank you in advance for your opinion.

2025.02.01 22:55 Big_Mixture_5291 I Was Assaulted by a Road-Raging Driver
I was involved in a terrifying road rage incident today around 4:30 PM while biking westbound on Hampshire St. near Bristol St. in Cambridge. Posting here to warn others, see if anyone else witnessed it, and get some advice.
As I was riding in the bike lane, a driver in a black Jaguar XF failed to yield and nearly hit me at an intersection. There was no obstruction, he clearly saw me but still drove through. I reacted out of frustration, and he started honking aggressively. He initially continued down the street, but moments later, I saw him driving the wrong way back to follow me.
I stopped at a red light at Hampshire and Windsor and he got out of his car, screaming at me. I tried to avoid him by continuing to bike forward, but he drove alongside me, yelling obscenities. At this point, I was extremely scared, so I started biking north on the sidewalk of Union St the wrong way. I figured he might not be willing to go down the wrong way or maybe a car would be coming the correct way that he wouldn't be able to drive past but I was obviously mistaken.
He drove the wrong way down that street to chase me down. He got out, ran up to me, and got in my face. He spit on me while screaming about "entitled bicyclists" and told me that if I ever "did that again," he would kill me. He mimed a gun with his hand inches from my face and implied he had a weapon but was "being nice" by not using it. He forced me to apologize profusely before finally getting back in his car.
Even after that, he continued to follow me for another 30 seconds before finally driving away.
I am preparing to go to the police statement to make a report. I got his license plate and I asked a bystander to be a witness. I'm extremely flustered and humiliated and I'm quite scared to leave the house, but I know I need to report this guy. I have absolutely no faith that Cambridge PD will do anything to stop this guy, but I feel obligated to report this incident. If anyone else saw this or has footage from the area, please let me know. If anyone has any advice on how to better ensure the police do their fucking job on my case I would also love to hear that too.

i've always had trouble with the act of forgiveness — with the process of relinquishing hurt enough to regrow a relationship with kindness. but watching this scene was a transcendental moment: a sun ray unfurling in a dark room. this is what beautiful art does — it puts you in touch with your own tenderness; buried as it might be deep within your body.
witnessing coach beard offer redemption to nate — and through it share his own story of the grace he was given by ted at one of the lowest points in his life — truly brought me to tears. all we are as human beings are the instances of light that link us to one another — the bonds that bless us and help us bestow that blessing further onto someone who needs it.
when someone chooses to treat you with infinite gentleness and mercy after you have done something unimaginable; they plant a seed of hope in your chest. this seed will stay dormant until you yourself are presented with a person who has committed a grave transgression. and then you have to make the choice whether or not to let that seed of hope bloom into a flower.
this is what coach beard did. ted's kindness to him, freely given; with so much implicit faith — allowed him to extend that same generosity and empathy to nate. beard was softened; and made warmer as a person by ted's gift of grace — and by being fundamentally changed by that experience; he was able to approach nate from a place of tolerance and forgiveness.
he let that seed bloom.
ultimately, what connects us as human beings as just one person to another are the threads of gold that illuminate our character. the moments that make us grateful to be alive. and if we have been lucky enough to experience grace — we should offer it to one another. i know that this was a polarizing scene for many viewers, but in my opinion the point isn't whether nate deserves forgiveness or not — it's about what he needs as a human being at one of the most vulnerable points in his life. and whether or not beard is willing to give that — what he needs: to him.
and i love that the choice to do so isn't easy for beard — because it's never easy to reflect light on someone who has responded to you with the worst of their vicious darkness. you can see the tension in his body as he leans toward nate; a physical manifestation of his internal struggle — on the verge of head-butting him as nate suggested him to — and at the very last second, with the symbolic and the actual merging: he decides to embrace him instead.
i love that beard never once condones nate's actions: never once says "it's okay," in the manner that so many scenes of forgiveness emulate. what he does is so much harder; so much more an act of selflessness — "what you did is not okay. but i forgive you anyway."
in our lives, we will all be nate at one point or the other. we will all do something unforgivable to someone who doesn't deserve it. and i hope that at that moment we are offered the ordinary grace that makes every second on this cruel planet bearable — the comfort of two arms welcoming you home, telling you that you still have a second chance. i hope that when it is our turn to be faced with someone's unconscionable harshness – we will be able to meet it with sweetness and understanding.
i hope we let that seed bloom. i hope we look at this question head-on: "is forgiveness something that you give others, or is it something that you give yourself?"
this is the final part of what i had to say about this show's relationship with grace, and i'd like to end with the words of poet dilruba ahmed: "to forgive yourself first / so you could then forgive others / and at last find a way to become the love that you want in this world." 💌

I have had great success with porcine kidney porcine concentrate based DAO pills like the old HistDAO formula. They are small capsules with little tiny pellets in them. Most DAO supplement companies that used to make that form have transitioned to porcine kidney porcine extract which seems to be much weaker than the concentrate and causes a bad reaction in me (these are more of the white powder based ones and the tablets).
Has anyone else who has used the concentrate version found any alternative that works equally well for them? I have not tried NatureDAO or plant based DAO yet as I prefer to stick to what has worked, but I unfortunately don't believe there's any way to source the concentrate at this time.
I've even reached out to the company that holds the patent to the concentrate and they wouldn't answer my question or tell me what the difference is between the extract and concentrate and only tried to pitch me their new extract pill formula which is HistaSolv. Also curious if anyone who previously used the concentrate has found they need to double the tablet form of the extract.

I know shadows of Change was kind of a shitshow all round but regardless it seems to be getting a "redo" later on this year. Knowing that, is Cathay in particular worth the try for what they have currently?
Kislev is a slog and Tzeentch pretty challenging/grating to get through if you're not playing the Changeling.
I'm a huge lore guy so I had a looksie into their history and culture and ngl I'm pretty intrigued (thankyoupancreasnowork)
The entire east has a ton of factions I love in general like Ogres and Chaos Dwarfs so I'm fairly certain Cathay might not dissapoint. But what say you all who have tried it? Any tips or tricks or should I ignore the race altogether?
