2025.02.02 00:42 AkiraToriyamaIsCoolz I’ll be rooting for ya’ll as an Australian!

Our election is coming up next and the guy who’s most likely to win (Peter Dutton) is essentially an Australian Trump and has said the Trump administration is something to look up to. You guys over there need to prove not only to America but to every other nation of the world that we will not stand for it!

2025.02.02 00:42 Misty_Milo Sequoia II progress update

Hey all! I started my first true starter this month as I wanted to use it for bread, and pancakes. She was being fed wheat and bread flour but now I'm starting to feed her solely wheat till her yeast is fully developed. She just had her first rise. I also invested in a food scale to weigh her with. I think I was vastly under feeding her and also diluting her with flour and water.

2025.02.02 00:42 suineg What's the point of listing stock availability?

I just did maybe my 2nd ever grocery order and it's been a nightmare. We made sure to choose things that said they were available and gave options for replacements. At this point 9 of 15 items have been replaced and the shopper isn't even done. It's not the dasher's fault but why do they even pretend to have any stock of anything?
At this point if I had ordered M&M's then I would not be shocked if I was offered skittles instead ...

2025.02.02 00:42 Accomplished-Air890 Babysitting 3 kids before school. Is $65 fair after 3 years?

Hi! I’ve been babysitting for a family I’m close with for the last 3 school years and have always been given $65 dollars for the morning since I’ve started. I babysit at least once a week but usually its twice. We live in a suburban area right outside of a major city. I arrive at 6:00 ( leaving my house around 5:30/5:40) and take care of three kids aged 8,6, and 3. I get them dressed, make breakfast, and then drive the older kids to school by 8:05 and then drop the youngest off at daycare by 8:15am. Before we leave, I try my best to tidy up the house before we leave (they have never asked me to do this but I feel like I can’t leave it with the morning mess out). After I drop them off, I drive home to make sure I make it in time to clock in for my 9-5. It’s a fast paced morning since at least one of the kids is up by the time I get there. I usually leave feeling exhausted. Since I’m in a high cost area and have been doing this for 3 years without an increase, is $65 still fair? I’ve seen that rates have increased a bit. Im just curious if I’m I being fairly compensated for my time. Would love to hear what others think. Thank you!

2025.02.02 00:42 aylesworth High-tech alternatives to toto washlet

Hello bidet people! I purchased a a Toto washlet C2 on the wife's recommendation as she used something similar while on a trip in Japan.
Installation was a breeze, but when I was done, looking down at the seat it felt very small, and it wiggled a little bit, which I guess is semi normal? Anyway, it looked too small for me, as a 6'2" 250+ male so I sat on the seat with underwear on and it didn't work at all for my anatomy. Felt like either the front bit was outside or the back bit was outside of the designated clearance zone, without being too crass lol.
Are there any good quality, equally featured bidets that are big dude friendly? Looking into it a bit I guess the heating tanks in the washers take up some pretty decent real estate but the tankless options I found so far have all been just basic under-seat sprayers.
Any help or firsthand experience would be appreciated!

2025.02.02 00:42 RulerOfMyOwnLife TJ’s Brick Cream Cheese - OK for making frosting?

I’m planning to make a box of the Gingerbread Cake Mix, and I want to put cream cheese frosting on it.
I’ve used TJ’s brick cream cheese on bread/bagels, and it’s fine, but the texture is different from Philly cream cheese. So I‘m wondering if that texture difference will matter when making frosting.
Has anyone used TJ’s brick cream cheese for frosting? If you have, how was it? Should I stick with Philly?
Thanks!

2025.02.02 00:42 SmellyNeli FL YA Book Shipping Update

Has anyone received their January YA book? I know on the shipping updates they were aiming to have them all shipped by the 31st. I’m in the US if that helps. I received my romantasy book only but never received the shipping notification or tracking number from Fairyloot so I was just curious as to what everyone else is experiencing.

2025.02.02 00:42 RotharAlainn Checking in after a few years out (motherhood) - are my terms current? Please help me get back out there in my career.

Hi anthropologists here is some context: I got my PhD in 2019. I had a baby in 2016 and defended my thesis while 8 months pregnant with my second child in 2018. I was so burned out I decided to take a year before looking for jobs after giving birth. Well then 2020 happened. I got pregnant again while working a job I took during the pandemic at a bicycle company. So it's 2025 and I have been doing side-hustles to keep the kids fed for 5 years now. A friend found a job I am ideal for and I am applying, but want to just check in and make sure I don't sound as out-of-the-loop as I feel. I REALLY want to get back into work where the skills I gained and knowledge I gained are put to use, I miss academia and I am finally in a place where I have the capacity to do full-time work. So here are some questions as I work on my cover letter, CV, research statement, DEIB statement:
interlocutors: is this the current term? I was using participants, but this seems like the preferred term now, yes?
marginalized: there are loads of new ways to discuss being subaltern/historically excluded/marginalized . Does anyone recommend specific terminology in my DEIB statement to address forms of marginalization?
And the big existential one: Do I bring up motherhood? If you've been on a hiring committee tell me how does it come across when women bring up being mothers? I have applied for a ton of things in the last 5 years and I sometimes get the standard rejection mass-email, sometimes literally nothing. I've done a bunch to prep for this job (I made a website for myself, read a ton of sample research statements etc) - but I am trying to figure out if I just say outright that raising three small kids during a pandemic made it difficult to be competitive in academia. But my youngest is going to preschool in the fall and I have the time and energy now to truly dive back in.
Some additional background: it's not a teaching position. Also I was an excellent student but it doesn't really show on my CV because I didn't publish - I got the highest grade in the university on my MA thesis, I was funded for 11 years - but I was poor AF and had my first kid while I was in grad school, so I worked side gigs as a housecleaner and in retail to pay bills and I should have prioritized publishing but honestly I couldn't manage finishing my own research, doing conference papers, caring for a baby, working as a cleaner at night, AND submitting to journals. So here we are. Help.

2025.02.02 00:42 lucieannaroy intense tooth & gum pain, lost tooth.

hi everyone, this is my first time posting here, a little background, i’m a 20 year old female and my teeth have always had problems ever since i was young, i struggle to go to the dentist because i suffer from panic attacks and anxiety. therefore i go to a special dentist but it is a huge waiting list. i’ve been waiting for 6/7 months now and my therapist had to jump in and say im in intense pain everyday so they would hurry up and move me up the list as an emergency, i recently lost my front tooth due to this, i got diagnosed with anemia and its affected my teeth a lot more than they already were, the dentist blame me for “drinking too many fizzy drinks” (for the americans, soda)! however i dont drink fizzy drinks/soda due to my anxiety as they make it worsen. im in so much pain everyday and im really struggling. i take medicine, paracetamol, bruphen, Co-codamol, i brush my teeth like 4 times a day to try ease it or get stuff out of my teeth but that doesn’t work, minty mouthwash, medicated mouthwash, salt water rinses, hot and cold compress, im lost now! i can’t even lie down because when i lie down is when its at its worst, it’s actually been making me cry in pain and just from genuine lack of sleep, i’m constantly holding my face and my family know when im in pain because i hardly speak and just have a hand pressed onto whichever side of my face hurts, the pain shoots through my teeth (top and bottom rows), my jawline, my cheekbone, i sometimes get headaches and earache from it too, can someone help me on how to ease this pain? i’d really appreciate if anyone had any kind of solutions. i live in Scotland so i might not have some stuff other countries have, thanks!

2025.02.02 00:42 AltoUltra Service Pets in Transitional Housing

I (21) am currently living in transitional housing that does not allow pets, as a general rule. It's claimed that it's for allergy reasons.
My doctor and I have had conversations, however, about how it would be beneficial for me to have a service animal for general illness/disability-related alerts and deep pressure therapy. I've decided that since these are all things service cats are also trained for, as well as the fact that I'm not physically capable of caring for a dog (walks/outside time and physical play, etc.) that I'd be getting a service cat.
Assuming I take all precautions possible (hypoallergenic cat, cleaning frequently, and keeping the cat confined to my (very large) room) are they allowed to deny me access to an arguably necessary medical tool for potential allergy purposes?
I know by default Transitional Housing programs don't need to follow laws set by the LTB, hence why they're able to disallow pets in the first place. Google hasn't had much viable information on this as far as I've seen and clarification on the laws they must follow is needed.
If it helps, this specific program is run by the same organization as a shelter that my mother was able to bring her service dog into when I was 15.
