2024.11.24 22:45 zebradynasty I cried during sex with my boyfriend, need advice
I’m a straight woman and I cried during sex with my boyfriend. Basically what happened is it felt good until it suddenly became physically uncomfortable. I tried to wait out the discomfort for 30 seconds just in case maybe it would go away, but 15 seconds in to me waiting he noticed me tearing up a little. He said “what’s wrong?” and I just burst into tears. This has never happened before.
Anyways we talked about it and I told him that I feel like I have to wait out the discomfort before ending the sex because every time I end the sex too soon because of me getting uncomfortable I know he will feel guilty all day. He always reassures me he wants me to end or not engage in sex when I’m not enjoying it, but honestly I never feel like I’m truly able to do that because of the lingering internal knowledge that if I do end the sex because of discomfort specifically, it’ll ruin his mood for days by making him feel gloomy and guilty for hurting me or something and he will sulk. So I always push myself to “check” and “be sure” that I really want to end it before I do end it.
But I feel like this obligation/pressure to wait has made me feel extremely uncomfortable at the thought of having sex with him even though he absolutely insists that I never do anything I’m not comfortable with. I haven’t even been comfortable at the thought of hugging or kissing him for some reason (I genuinely don’t even know why), but for the same reasons as I mentioned above, I still do it because I don’t want to start another conversation that I know will leave him guilty/gloomy for days.
I just feel super trapped right now even though he means no harm and is terrified of hurting me. He says that my feelings are valid but that he feels he deserves the right to feel guilty/gloomy when these things happen too. I agree with him but I guess my question is, how do I stop feeling scared about sex when the thought of me causing him any guilt/gloom weighs over me and makes me extremely uncomfortable and makes me feel unable to immediately stop sex the moment I begin to feel discomfort?
(Also just to be clear, he firmly believes in consent and will always stop at the slightest indication of an issue, just like how he stopped when he saw me tearing up.)
Any advice is appreciated

Hi everyone,
So I am working on decreasing phone time overall like many of us ! I also want to take it a step further! Sitting in silence is lovely but I also want to use some of that time in a productive way!
I have a couple of books I have been dying to read forever and simply haven’t gotten around to it. This week I placed books everywhere around my house and it has been a game changer!
I placed books in the bathroom (this has been great because I often want to be on my phone while on the bathroom! Now I can read a chapter of a book and sometimes that has allowed me to keep reading more through out the day because now I’m engaged! )
I placed books on both sides of my couches, in living room, on patio. (This helps when I’m in my living room and I start to desire to doom scroll or watch Netflix)
Lastly, I have a kindle and iPad and will take that with me when I drive and leave to read’ ! By my bed! And I will even listen to an audio book as opposed to watching tik tok’ !
I’m not trying to start a book club or anything but I also feel like consuming too much social media is consuming me ? Maybe even mental regression? I mean I’m intelligent don’t get me wrong but I think it’s crazy to think when was the last time I read a regular book? Read a book out loud? Had an engaging conversation about a current event ? I use to have engaging debates on current topics with friends and family but now everyone is quite busy and works a lot so I don’t get the chance as much! Anyone else feel this way?
It’s like learning another language! Yeah it’s great but if you don’t often practice or engage with others you can lose it ! Use it or lose it ! Also this stuff doesn’t even have to be about finance or business or educational topics. It could be fiction or anime or whatever !
