2024.11.24 22:31 AccomplishedBag1038 Looking for a new camera - I suffer with GAS

I need some advise on a new system. Bit of a long post.
I started in M43 and a few months ago I sold my bodies and most of my lenses. I suffered from GAS quite a bit buying lenses and body's all in the entry/mid range space. I wasnt happy with the 'upgrade path' from there as in NZ, the cost of better M43 bodies and glass are much pricier than most APS-C stuff and similar to full frame. An A6700 body is $1000 less than a G9 II for instance, and Leica glass is good but I doubt better on an M43 body than a mid range lens on APS-C?
I like to shoot just about anything when I'm out and about which is partly to blame. I realise I would be happier carrying less and restricting what I have. In M43 I would carry the full focal range up to 600mm, one minute id be taking landscapes, the next wildlife, which meant a lot of lens swapping and that gets tiresome.
So I bought an RX10 III. It is actually brilliant and I'm blown away by the IQ from this lens and its surprising how much shadow and highlight detail you can recover in post with its small sensor. At 600mm it is far better than the panasonic 100-300 II, Its quite big though. Sure, smaller than a body and a bag of lenses, but there is no option to travel light, or shoot with less light.
I also want to get into a bit of video. Mainly static and slow pan scenes stitched together to tell stories better than images can sometimes do. Possibly a bit of vlogging too. If I like it and do more, I dont want to have to upgrade just for decent video later. The RX10 III can do 4k well with its full sensor read out, but the screen only tilts and as mentioned its big and not great in low light. Ive started using a proper flash indoors on the RX10 and its worked wonders for indoor stills, but im a bit self conscious about walking into places with a big camera and flash.
Looking at options, I cant afford to keep the RX10 and buy into a new system. I have considered partnering with a ZV-1 instead, fixed lens, compact, good focal range for its uses and lens is a bit faster than the RX10 so that's an option?
For a system, no M43 or full frame, so APSC. IBIS is a nice to have but not necessarily at the price premium and the same goes for weather sealing. So If a body doesn't have IBIS, zoom lenses must have good OIS. Im also wierd in that I dont like third party stuff no matter how good it is. If its a sony camera, it gets sony glass so thats a factor too. I also only buy new. Used market here isnt great anyway. A good app might be useful too. Sony imagecentre is the worst.
I want a kit of around 3 lenses max, and ideally start with basic lenses that then have counterparts that I can upgrade to later: Compact short zoom (kit lens) Medium tele (300-400mm) and a 35/50 prime.
Sony: A6700 probably out of budget. Id rather go Fuji XS20 if I did up the budget. ZVE10s maybe too video orientated so that leaves the A6400, which seems a good cheap option. 16-50 kit lens, 18-105 f/4 + 50 OSS prime maybe. Not sure if rolling shutter would be an issue for slow panning? Some of my sony accessories and RX10 batteries will work with this too.
Canon: I just dont like Canon stuff, cant explain why.
Nikon: Z30 seems quite large for its type of camera? ZV50 or ZV50 II maybe with the kit lens, and budget 50-250 and 35. Not sure how it stacks up against the sony or fuji options.
Fuji: Fuji weren't on my radar at all but are now. Film sims have an appeal, would be nice to relegate post work to just shots that need exposure corrections or cropping. I dont mind post work too much, but generally speaking its about 1.5hrs for every hour I spent shooting, could be time better spent.
In the Fuji line, Id take the XM-5 over the XT30 II because of video. I think I could live without an EVF. The XS20 (over the XT50) seems the perfect camera for me but a budget stretch, but it gets ibis and better handling. The XS20 being a higher end model though makes me feel like I shouldnt use the cheap plastic XC lenses on it, so the cost will skyrocket. XM-5 id run with the 15-45 kit, and the super cheap (but apparently decent optically) 50-230 and 35, later maybe get a pancake to make it more compact.
At this level everything seems to have some pretty large drawbacks. It probably comes down to A6400 vs XM5. XM5 has better video, film sims and cheap glass with the better glass not being too expensive either. A6400 maybe better AF, but is older. Glass selection is good for stills and video.
Thoughts and anything else I should consider? I've looked and held most of these cameras too. I have to sell my RX10, and dont want to be wishing I hadnt!

I don’t know why I feel this way. I really don’t. I can’t seem to find beauty in life. I know it exists, but I just can’t feel it. My life has always been good. But now that I’ve become aware of my own existence, it feels torturous. Now that I’ve realized how life works, how it’s always a constant cycle of repetition, it’s overwhelming.
Everything in life is tied to perspective. We are our realities; we can never see things neutrally. And I just wish I didn’t have my own perspective—I’m so tired of being trapped inside myself. I look at other people and remind myself that they’re just different versions of a human being, different versions of me. I’m always trying to figure out how they see the world, and most of the time, I envy them. I envy them because I’ll never have their perspective, just as they’ll never have mine. If I have my view of the world and they have theirs, and neither of us can ever experience the other’s, it’s impossible for me to truly understand what it’s like to be someone else.
I look at other people and wonder: how do they seem to live so peacefully, knowing they’re trapped within themselves forever? Knowing that tomorrow, they’ll wake up, do the same things, and suffer in the same ways?
Sometimes, I forget that I exist as a person. Often, I don’t even classify myself as “someone.” That’s why, when people notice something about me and comment on it, I’m reminded that I am someone—I’m human. But I don’t feel it. I don’t feel like my thoughts are as organized as other people’s. I don’t feel like I have truths that I commit to. It’s as if I don’t take myself seriously enough to have them.
I don’t feel reliable; I feel insecure about myself, and what I want more than anything is to change. I want to stop overanalyzing every step and every thought I have—because that’s exactly what I’m doing, constantly judging myself.
I rely on validation from others because their perspectives seem more “right” than mine. But I’ve accepted that I can’t ever have their perspective. My daydreams are an escape from this overwhelming emptiness. I feel so much shame for feeling this way. I imagine what people who know me would think of all this because, objectively speaking, I’ve always had a good, structured life. Why do I feel like this?
Why can’t I find meaning in myself in any aspect? Why don’t I feel solid or concrete in anything? It’s horrible. It feels like I’m just a hollow, lifeless thing wandering the earth, taking up space.

I don't think anyone mentioned it before, and it should be discussed more. When you buy regen shields and still have at least 1 more refill left, you are re-born with a shield after Sage resurrects you. This has potentially huge tactical benefits (if you play with a team), as Sages might prefer ulting someone with some shield left to increase the advantage.
I don't believe that regen shield should be this cheap just because of this. Not only does it give you 75 shields in total, but being able to try to clutch with it even after you die in a round seems crazy when it costs just 650 creds.

Went to the ER today for bad right side stomach and flank pain and nausea and the doctor there thinks it could very well be my gallbladder. I have an ultrasound tomorrow and hopefully will possibly finally get some answers about what the heck is going on with me.
I feel so fatigued and exhausted from this, I’m still in a lot of pain but hopefully tomorrow I’ll know if it’s my gallbladder or liver. I’m secretly hoping it’s my gallbladder and removing it helps the majority of my issues.

Its like they never have an answer. You summon it, banish tenpai or field spell, you open them up to phalanx. Not to mention the auxila + primera protection combo against board breaking. Also, droplet doesn’t effect monster levels.
