However, using it at the beginning of a sentence would only make sense if it is a follow-up, alternative, or response to something someone else has said (usually, to mark contrast with another person's opinion). "He prefers hiking and surfing. As for me, I would rather just stay at home and relax" As a writer, I use "And" at the beginning of sentences in novels. I take (what I consider) this poetic license typically to emphasize a thought in a narrative or to more closely mimic informal speech. As we audibly converse, we often pause and continue our thoughts with "and." Correct. The standard injunction to avoid using conjunctions (or conjuncts) at the beginning of a sentence was predicated on the assumption that such sentences tended to be fragments. In fact, as this matter has subsequently been reviewed over the past 60 years or so, the concern has been found to be wholly unwarranted. They are valid but not interchangeable. I think the most important difference is that "in the beginning" seems to be an expression describing a whole period of time, while "at the beginning" more literally describes a single moment in time, similar to the difference between saying "in the morning" and "at 8 a.m."

I received a shirt that was a different colour to the listing images (original post here), and after opening a PayPal dispute (I paid on PayPal), the seller said I can return it and once I confirm it’s been shipped, she’ll refund me. I’m in Australia for reference.
Who covers the cost of shipping? This has been such a frustrating experience and I know the shipping will be only around AUD$12-15 but I really don’t want to have to pay for an issue that wasn’t my fault. Also, will the seller refund me for the original shipping cost as well?
I’ve never done a return on Depop before so apologies if this is an obvious question. I’ve just found so much conflicting information online and I’m not sure how this all works, so thank you so much if anyone can help!

2024.11.25 06:21 Moneyshott Rocky Mountain National Park CO underwhelming after Banff? Jaded?
Question for those that have visited both. We are planning a trip next June to Denver. Vail for 6 nights and couple nights Moab. Potentially staying in Estes park a night, detouring through RMNP instead one of the Vail nights but will it be a let down after the Canadian rockies?Just looking at some top 10 RMNP videos, it seems a little underwhelming honestly. And this is after we absolutely scored this past June on our Banff/Jasper trip. Grizz, elk, deer, mtn goats, bighorns, 4 natl parks, a week of mostly blue bird days, and incredible weather, plus it was the week after it snowed, just an amazing trip. I'm even scared to come back to Banff again it was almost too perfect. For those that have visited both, is it worth it?

Fuck dress codes. That's the gist. Our management is cracking down on dress code this month. Right in time to use my extra money on clothes for them instead of gifts for my family. They told me everything head to toe, from company issued hat to leather work boots, was wrong. My biggest issue is that I'm essentially a janitor and cooler stocker, but corporate dress code says slacks. I'm regularly covered in milk, produce trash juice, meat trash juice, soda, alcohol, and general grossness and rain. Why should i wear slacks to clean toilets and work half my shift in a fridge, and half outside. And show me a pair of slacks that can carry a janitor key ring, gloves, notebook, pen, and box cutter. Fuck this shit.

to preface this i'm sec 3 in combined science (sec 4 olevels next year). basically i lost my (2014-2023) science chemistry topical tys a few months ago and now i'm trying to buy a replacement but i genuinely can't find it ANYWHERE. every popular bookstore says that they don't have it because the new edition is coming out in january 2025. so how different is the 2014-2023 versus the 2015-2024 ?? like obviously the questions are different so then i'm screwed cuz my holiday hw applies to the version that came out this year and not next year's new one.
