2024.11.25 09:50 Effective-Sea1554 Article about me in our graduation newspaper
So it is a long text but I thought it could be fun if you tried to type me based on what my friends wrote about me when we graduated:
"Crazy, crazy, Hannah. When you meet Hannah, the first thing you notice is her thoroughly haphazard and wacky nature. Because Hannah already starts the morning by being late on a regular basis. Whether she overslept, had to quickly feed her cat or her bike was out of order again and she had to walk - she always has a reason. It's often inexplicable, because Hannah's lateness is often longer than the time it takes her to get to school. When she arrives at school, she then sits down unconcerned, which is perhaps also one reason why she is hardly noticed by teachers. This doesn't seem to be a problem with Hannah, however, because she is so inconspicuous that her lack of homework and barely any oral contributions go unnoticed by the teachers. Is it pity that her oral grades are not too bad despite this? In any case, Hannah usually scores very well in writing. She often doesn't even study because she is apparently less disappointed with her results if she hasn't tried at all. She also likes to pass her boredom in biology lessons by singing songs loudly and off-key with Lisa. Hopefully she won't become a singer in the future. As for her taste in music... a difficult subject. As Hannah went through a pretty intense rock music phase in which her taste in music was very different from that of her friends, her circle of friends decided that she should never be the one to connext with the BT Box so that they wouldn't suffer any other consequential damage. Unfortunately, Hannah's guitar career didn't take off either, and she still can't even read music. What a shame, we would have been happy to have a guitar around the campfire more than once. After refusing alcohol for a long time, she couldn't resist it, but does she feel anything at all of it? Not in her opinion, but the rest of us have already experienced its effects. Nevertheless, she always entertains us at parties with her funny manner and always has an open ear for people who need to talk. In addition to her regular afternoon nap, her other leisure activities include weekly swimming training and, more recently, kickboxing, and Hannah is generally enthusiastic about all sorts of things and is always ready to start something. Hannah also has many strange but practical habits. These include twitching, but also regularly carrying all kinds of objects in her jacket pocket or backpack. Whether it's a pocket knife, a single shoelace, plasticine or a wide variety of pens, there's always something suitable if needed. However, her pronunciation of some words is annoying. (Followed by examples that do not make sence in english) Maybe you'll learn it one day... Surprisingly, she already has a plan for the time after her A-levels, although she has no concrete ideas about her future. Fortunately, she was able to fulfill her childhood dream of riding in an ambulance at the age of 16. In August, she will be going to Peru for the first time for a year to work on social projects and improve her Spanish skills at the same time.
Dear Hannah, we hope you enjoy your year abroad and can gain many wonderful and interesting experiences. Thank you for your humorous, open, wacky and loving nature. Thank you for always being there for us. And above all, thank you for your friendship over the years. All the best for your future Your friends"
And here is a comment of my teacher: "Hannah is one of the quietly clever ones. Her cleverness is revealed less in well-formulated oral contributions, her profession is writing, subtly formulated texts that make a teacher's heart beat faster. Her mischievous smile reveals: she could always, but only sometimes wants to. Many doors are open to her!"

2024.11.25 09:50 pineapples364 Housing and work (London UK)
I (21F) am genuinely tired of applying for jobs and living in temporary accommodation. At the moment housing benefit pays my rent and then Universal Credit is my monthly allowance. I don't want to live like this for long term, but I've been trying to get jobs and no success. Now after trying for so long to apply for jobs, career coaching, job fairs, insight days, trisning programmes I don't want to apply for work anymore or live on my own. However, because I'm on Universal Credit I am still made to job seek and I am not assessed to be "unfit or incapable for work". In addition, DWP will not pay PIP (Personal Independence payment) for my health condition (not a physical illness). It is quite tiring, plus I have been trying to get into work that can pay so I can live independently and NOT be on benefits, however haven't been hired despite having feedback feedback on applications and interviews. I do not like being on benefits, but as I can't get a job it's my only source of rent and monthly allowance, as I don't have family to stay with or a partner to live with or support financially
I do not like being on benefits either, on such small amount of money. I cannot live with family, so I'm living on my own. There are also problems with the building that I reside in such as noise levels, alarm systems noisy randomly, key cards malfunctions, water leaks resulting in water shut off, no emergency contact for the "serviced" accommodation despite there being technical difficulties occurring multiple times, staff can enter your studio flat at any time if they want to check something. It is a self contained studio flat provided by the Council where only ONE PERSON is allowed to live there. No couples, pets or children allowed. It is "temporary/emergency" housing. Advantages of the building: no extra bills (water, gas, electricity) besides the rent (£980/month) and council tax (£93/month). However this still will mean that even if I get a permanent and full time job, I may struggle living alone due to personal expenses, or I may not be able to afford living alone. As there could be additional costs such as transport to and from work, launderette, NHS Prescriptions etc
I'm quite tired and just wish I could leave this temporary studio, have someone who would look after me so I wouldn't have to consider working and expenses

2024.11.25 09:50 Dofra_445 Could someone explain the convention of Urdu poets mentioning their names in their poetry?
In this couplet by Ghalib
ہم کو معلوم ہے جنت کی حقیقت لیکن
دل کے خوش رکھنے کو غالبؔ یہ خیال اچھا ہے
He addresses himself in the second line. Furthermore in the last 2 lines of Tarana-e-Hindi, Iqbal also references him own name as if referring to a third person.
اقبالؔ کوئی محرم اپنا نہیں جہاں میں
معلوم کیا کسی کو درد نہاں ہمارا
Similar examples can be found in Mir's poetry along with Khusrau's couplets, as well and even in non-Urdu poets of Medieval India like Kabir, who turn themselves into characters in the scenarios they are representing in their poetry. Sometimes the name is even dropped seemingly randomly in one of the lines. Could anyone give insight into this stylistic choice and its origins?

2024.11.25 09:50 Derpballz How tariffs work: "You purchase this good or service from a 'foreigner', therefore you have to pay this fee or you go to jail". Such imposed extortions make the most value-generating courses of action more expensive, and thus increase prices. I wish that more people would realize this.
