Hi everyone,
This past weekend was deer opener in Wisconsin, and one thing I've kept with me when I go out and about is my grandpa's old hunting knife. It's an Schrade Old Timer, not particularly valuable, but it's an heirloom and I guess this weekend its scout-carry styled sheath decided to not fit it so well.
That being said, I have an idea as to where it might've fallen out of its sheath based on where I think I had sat down to take a break from walking about, but I don't remember enough to know exactly where to find that spot again. With the cold weather coming in and my current schedule, it's not looking like I'll have another chance to get out to try and find it before the snow comes to stay.
This lead me to the idea of purchasing or renting a metal detector to go search for it, but there's a lot of options out there. If I were to buy one just for this application (I have no experience whatsoever in metal detecting), are there recommendations the community could make? Who knows, it might turn into a new hobby, but for now I'd be interested in whatever folks could recommend to help me find it.
I hugely appreciate the time of anyone who has read my post, and any assistance they might be able to offer me.

Lately, I’ve been noticing that my attention span has been absolutely garbage. Like, I’ll start working on something, and within 5–10 minutes, my brain is screaming, "What else can we do?" It’s almost like I’ve conditioned myself to crave constant stimulation, whether it’s scrolling social media, checking emails, or even just clicking random tabs on my browser.
What’s worse is that when I do try to focus, it feels exhausting, like my brain is actively fighting it. I’ve tried Pomodoro, blocking distractions, even apps like Forest to guilt me into staying off my phone, but nothing sticks long-term. This obviously kills productivity because I end up juggling a bunch of half-finished tasks and then spiraling into frustration at the end of the day.
I can’t tell if this is a modern tech thing, a lack of discipline, or just life these days? I’d love to hear if anyone else feels this way and what’s worked for you to push through it.
