2024.11.25 20:41 HydroCow Do I include both attempts of a retaken course when calculating my GPA in my applications?
Hi all,
I failed a course in my first semester after transferring to my degree-granting institution, but retook it and earned a B+. I have to recalculate my GPAs for nearly all of the schools I’m applying to since my bachelors transcript doesn’t factor in the transferred courses to the GPA and is on a 4.3 A+ scale. However, most schools don’t give specific instructions on whether or not to include both attempts of a retaken course.
I’m hoping I can avoid this, as I’m already going from a 3.66 to a 3.5 with the grade scale and transfer credits being added, but factoring in the failed course brings me all the way down to a 3.24. The kicker is, if I wasn’t a transfer, some schools wouldn’t bother asking me to recalculate at all and a I could just give the 3.66 on my transcript.
What should I do in this case? Should I factor in the failed grade by default or only if it’s specifically required? Thanks for the help!
