I was up in my attic today and at first I saw just some sap on my beams and I was like “ok it’s just a little sap I’m sure there’s nothing to worry about” and I started taking my Christmas decorations down and noticed this on another beam. In the photo you can see there’s a small amount of sap leaking from the bottom of the beam, but what really worries me is the white stuff? I thought maybe it was mold because of the dark discoloration where all the white stuff is located, but I thought it didn’t really look like any sort of mold I’ve seen before. And then I thought “well maybe it’s a fungus” but it doesnt look like it’s growing in any sort of fungal-like pattern. I’ve asked several people what this was and nobody knew so now I’m on Reddit. I might be going up there again later today with my mom and I will try to get more pics but if anyone has ideas on what it might be it would be greatly appreciated.

First of all, i am very much the amateur. So i don't really know what im doing.
I recently got a new Synology NAS System to host some of my movies. I've been trying to add some of the movies onto my plex accout but everytime i try to make a new library it only shows the files on my local pc.

2024.11.25 21:30 Mission-Ad-194 Separating my cat and his friend due to moving
I have had my cat since he was about 3 months old, he is almost 2.5 years old. I am in college, so he has moved with me about 3 times. Back in July I had a bad roommate situation, so he went to live with my now current roommate and her cat until I could also move in. He’s become very bonded with my roommates cat (she’s about a year older than him) they are besties. But the issue is I have to move again in December, for hopefully the last time for a while, because I am graduating and starting work in a different city. I am worried that the new environment and also taking him away from my roommates cat is going to make him very anxious and lonely. I’m taking him to the vet soon to get anxiety meds because he’s had them before, so maybe that will help. I thought about getting a kitten a few weeks after I move who is a few months old so maybe he won’t be lonely? But maybe it’ll stress him out more because he misses his old friend? For purely selfish reasons I will not be leaving him behind because he is my baby. Any advice/insight/encouragement would be helpful so I can try to cause him the least amount of stress and also not feel like a terrible cat parent to keep moving him around and taking him away from his friend.
