2024.11.25 22:20 suicidal_whs No sulfur-efficient rocket fuel blueprints? Okay, make my own!
...five or six hours later, I finally have it completed. The problem with nitro rocket fuel is that though its really easy to setup, it isn't very efficient in terms of sulfur consumption. The mix of standard rocket fuel recipe + turbo blend fuel + turbofuel (to use up compacted coal) + diluted fuel ends up being far more efficient. Ended up having to use ten power shards to squeeze everything in, but that's easy with two purple slugs.
250 rocket fuel production with this blueprint:
Crude Oil: 104
Iron: 12.5
Sulfur: 59.4
Water: 102
Nitrogen: 100
250 rocket fuel with nitro rocket fuel alt recipe:
Crude Oil: 62.5
Iron: N/A
Sulfur: 166.6
Water: 166
Nitrogen: 125
Coal: 83.3
In exchange for +40 crude oil/min and a piddling amount of iron ore, I save 25 nitrogen, 106 Sulfur / min. Seeing as sulfur and nitrogen tend to be limiting reagents, seems like a good deal!
Using the entire resources of the Blue Crater for fuel production, the math works out as follows:
Nitro Rocket Fuel: Max of 3150/minute
My setup: 7200/minute. ALMOST DOUBLE. It could get up to 7500/minute, but then I have to setup compacted coal + turbofuel production and that's a hassle over just building a modular factory.
This is my first attempt to make a blueprint with aesthetics in mind, rather than merely functional cubes. Thoughts? It was non-trivial to fit everything in the designer without clipping, so room for aesthetics was limited.
