Hey everyone!
I just turned 18 this year, and I’m looking for any advice that could help me improve my financial situation (and hopefully help others who might need it too).
Here’s where I’m at:
- I’m trying to become more financially literate and have been doing some research, but I still feel like I have a lot to learn.
- I know investing in education is important, but I’m not sure what I want to study or focus on yet.
- I live at home rent-free for now, but I may need to start paying rent in the future.
- I have a decent-paying job in a trade, but I want to find ways to grow my income over time.
- I do have a savings account with money in it but I only add to it and let interest build up and never take money out of it. I have separate account for spending
- I still like to spend occasionally and have fun, buying cool stuff/stuff I like, hanging out with mates etc.
Any advice - big or small - on saving, investing, budgeting, or anything else would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance for your insights!
Also I have never really posted on reddit before, I did read through the rules, please let me know if I need to change anything or did something wrong.

I’ve noticed my cory, Domino, has what looks to be a hole on his head? He’s right eye also looks to be bulging and he’s lost a lot of colour! He was almost a shiny green.
He’s still eating and moving (although he’s gotten slower with his movement). We currently have him moved to a tank on his own and this is the first day we’ve treated him with melafix and pimafix.
Any help or suggestions would be great, I know your not meant to have favourites lol but Domino is mine!

My sons would like to play Fortnite with me. But I can't get used to gaming using a controller on their Playstations, so I want to play on my PC with keyboard and mouse. Because my PC was built a few years ago (2021) for office work, it only has an integrated GPU.
Would my current old PC be OK for gaming when I install a decent GPU? Or would the other components (CPU/motherboard/RAM/etc.) be a limiting factor?
Requirements: - Play Fortnite with 120fps (low graphics)
Current setup: - Motherboard: GIGABYTE B550 AORUS Elite V2 - CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5700G (3,8GHz + 8 cores) - Memory: Corsair VENGEANCE RGB 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR4 DRAM 3.600 MHz C18 - Disk: Samsung 980 1 TB PCIe 3.0 (x 2)
Would it be sufficient to add a GPU to this setup?
I've found these GPU's myself to be compatible with my motherboard (PCI-e 4.0 slot): NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 / 4070 or ASUS Radeon RX 7800 XT
Please don't shoot me down if I'm asking something stupid, I haven't played games for nearly 2 decades and my knowledge about current hardware is zero. I will be very grateful with any advice you can give me!

I believe "genuine leather" is what most leather products out there are. I have read time and again that genuine leather refers to bottom section of the hide like suede. Others say genuine leather means the upper portion. The problem for me is if most genuine leather is in fact split grain, then most products have a fake grain pattern made on it? So why is the number method of determining if something is real or not to look at the grain pattern. When I look at my genuine leather jacket, the grain pattern looks like real leather. It's not even and it has these different size pores. If this is just a fakery than what's the point of looking at grain unless it's a top-quality leather? are all "geunine leather" grain patterns fake? Just some are done really well?

I game on a 27'' 1440p screen, and mainly game warzone/COD and iRacing.
I was looking at the 14600kf, but for what I've read I should just save the money and get the 13600kf. And is the 13700K worth the price, in my country it's on sale rn for 388 dollars, and the 13600kf/14600kf is 229/240 dollars.

I have had periods where I had a friend groups and at the moment I’m friendless. I’m trying to put myself out there to get new friends but I keep thinking of past experiences that make me cringe so bad. It’s like I don’t know how to act appropriately and always say the wrong thing, or ruin an opportunity by over sharing or trauma dumping or info dumping. Or embarrass myself by considering an acquaintance as a friend and doing too much too soon into the relationship.
I know social skills should be practiced and I will make mistakes but it sucks! I’m 28 and have the social skills of a toddler and fear at this point it will be even more difficult to find friends since people this age already have friends and some are even getting married etc.
Can anyone relate?

We have a new update rolling out now! And we're planning another for early tomorrow Australian time.
First, here's what's NOT in today's build. We have a fix for the visible movement lag issue tested and ready, but it's such a significant change to our netcode that we did not want to push it out at the end of the team's day today in case there were any side-effects that would cause major problems for users that we couldn't catch in our small-scale testing. We plan on rolling out the build with that lag issue tomorrow as soon as the Australian team starts their day.
We have also been working on damage changes based on user feedback. We still have more tweaking to do, but we hope to roll out an experimental version of those changes very soon that can be toggled on for custom matches or for the boxing dummy.
Here is what IS in today's build.
0.1.14 Patch Notes
- Added an experimental counter-punch bonus damage system that can be enabled in custom matches. Please try it out and give us feedback!
- Fixed an issue that was causing some players to get stuck when starting ranked match searches.
- The maximum allowed wrist angle has been increased significantly.
- Your corner color will now appear on the floor marks during a match and during the winner announcement.
- Fixed an issue that could give incorrect match results when one player inflicted overwhelming amounts of damage.
- Errors with the ranked match search are more verbose for easier issue reporting.

Meus colegas estavam falando no trabalho que não vão trabalhar, e me peguei pensando que mesmo que eu não vá trabalhar, não tenho nenhum compromisso interessante para ir.
Todos os anos que passei tentando comemorar o ano novo eu sempre me metia em ciclos sociais de pessoas que não eram tão próximas de mim, ou que só não tinham a mesma vibe de curtir que nem eu, e me sinto deslocada, que não faço parte. Todo ano a mesma sensação, é muito ruim pq eu ficava "nah, deveria só ter ido trabalhar"
Tenho pessoas que eu posso passar, pessoas que gosto muito, mas ali na hora eu sinto que tô nada a ver ali. Não sei se é a expectativa que eu tenho do ano novo, mas fico sempre nesse looping
Eu poderia passar com meu namorado, mas geralmente ele passa com os amigos dele, que tem uma vibe beeem diferente (tipo usar droga etc e eu só bebo e no máximo fumo um) e fico com receio de ficar deslocada (como sempre) e estragar o rolê dele.
Sabe aquela coisa, vai ter o "rolê dos manos" e aí "fulano de tal vai trazer a namorada......"
Eles nunca reclamaram de mim, meu namorado diz que eles gostam de mim, mas, sei lá não quero ser a chata
Tenho um amigo que poderia chamar para beber e talvez ir para um lugar que tenha virada, tipo um bar sla, mas pensei que meu namorado acharia paia (apesar de ele já saber da nossa amizade e ser de boa com isso). Bom fico meio assim...
Só um desabafo mesmo, as vezes esses pequenos momentos que me sinto deslocada me fazem me sentir bem sozinha no fim das contas, como se não me encaixasse em lugar nenhum.
Todo ano esses eventos me deixam meio deprimida :/
