 | Hi All! I've noticed an electrical humming noise (constant, no change in pitch) coming from the cupboard on the top floor of our apartment building where the lift changeover panels are. There are 2 seemingly identical 'lifts changeover panel' in the cupboard, with one having a red light on saying 'stanby supply on'. Is this normal if the other panel has the green light 'mains supply on'? I called our lift maintenance contractor out and they said it's not something they can advise on. I'm not sure if this is the right sub, so apologies in advance.
One of our neighbours has a dog that barks all. the. time. And I don't mean like a one off bark, I'm talking consistent barking across all hours well into the night. We submitted "dog barking diaries" to our Council however they are saying without evidence they wont progress our case which is against the City's policies but I digress.
We are going to proceed with making a complaint and want to make sure we have evidence of the dog barking to put to bed any issues before they raise them. The neighbour lives across the street and I'm wondering if anyone knows of a microphone or device that will record and pick up on dog barking or noise disturbances and time mark them?

2024.11.26 08:30 No-Faithlessness-387 AITA for inviting my mom to my fiancé's Thanksgiving
My parents are getting a divorce or are very likely to. It's been messy on both sides to the point that even if they fixed all of their problems, I don't think they could stay together. They constantly talk trash about each other to me and want to know what the other is saying about them, somehow putting me in the middle even though I live an hour and a half away. Thanksgiving is coming up. My mom doesn't want to go to any of my dad's family's Thanksgivings, but her family lives two states away and she refuses to drive (she hates interstates). I talked to my fiancé's family about it and came up with the idea of inviting my mom to theirs since she has no where else to go. They agreed with the idea. Obviously, this is going to cause some problems. Knowing my mom, she will make it out as though I love her more because I invited her. This isn't true at all, but I could see her saying it. Even if she doesn't, my dad will likely think it anyways because they see my siblings and I as something to compete over. I'm afraid of what he will do, as he has changed a lot in the past few months, so I still haven't told him. I know that it will feel like a betrayal to him. I can't decide between talking to him about it in person at his family's Thanksgiving or telling him soonenot at all.
