Hi all,
I recently received an email from Bank of Ireland (BOI) informing me of an error they made with my Second Level current account. According to them, this account shouldn’t have allowed the use of direct debits or standing orders, but due to their mistake, I was able to set up and use these services. They’ve offered €25 as a goodwill payment for their error and have updated their account terms and conditions to officially include these features from January 2025.
Here’s the issue:
- I actively used direct debits on this account.
- Two direct debits resulted in overcharges: €45 to the Local Government Association y (LGA) and €75 to a software company. These overcharges caused me inconvenience and stress to resolve.
- I also have Spotify and Substack subscription among others.
Am I eligible for higher compensation? How would I go about to obtain it?

Hi all,
apologies if the question is all over the place but I am a German National who has lived in the UK for over 10 years and has ILR Status. I want to leave the country to try and start a business elsewhere but I was wondering what I need to handle / take care of before I leave.
- My job officially ends in Dec- do I let HMRC now that I am leaving the country? If so, how?
- I know that IRL status remains for two years after I leave the UK but what does this mean for national insurance? Can I pay into it or use services when I visit during those two years as I am still with that status?
- What would I do regarding my national pension? anything I need to do and know? I assume my personal pension pots will not need reminders
- I have additional cover ( health insurance) that I pay fo would that need to be cancelled or can it remain for the next two years?
- Do I need to let my bank know even though I want to keep my accounts open and working?
- Do I need to change my phone number or can I keep it?
I know some of these may be no brainers to some or you may not have answers to all but any nod into the right direction would help!

4 months ago doctor said I was prediabetic A1c 5.7. I started a ketovore diet and lost 40 lbs. 249 down to 209 now. Last doctor visit I'm below A1C prediabetes range at 5.2. Checking glucose at home the past couple days. Yesterday after a meal it was 79. This morning fasting it was 113. Is that normal or cause for concern?

My husband is currently working in Dubai and I will be joining him in about 3 weeks. His employer is currently preparing for my spousal visa. I am living in UK as a UK citizen.
However, next weekend I will be travelling to New York for a family vacation. Will this affect my entry to the US or my visa application in UAE in any way?

After searching for a photo with key words, is there a simple way to jump directly to the date that photo was taken in the gallery timeline view so that I can see all the photos that were taken on and around that date? Hi all,
I'm about to start studying my Diploma of nursing as I completed my cert 3.
I'm a little disheartened though. People say I won't struggle to find work as an AIN but honestly everyone keeps knocking back my application :(.
I'm planning on leaving Sydney and heading to Newcastle or even further up in 2028 which I'll be hopefully finished my anticipated bachelor of nursing and midwifery, but I'm so worried they won't have work up that way for a recently graduated registered nurse/midwife. My plan was to work as an EN before I go but my luck at finding a job now has been so bad.
Please if anyone has been in a situation similar would be much appreciated.
