Hi all,
I am trying to expose a VNC server I have running on one of my laptops and connect to it using ipv6 from a device outside of the network (my isp doesn't give out public ipv4s). I have checked with my ISP (did an online chat with them) and they confirmed everything on their end is working, and it is not their issue. I have additionally turned off the firewall on my router (temporarily) and made sure there are no hidden settings affecting it. I am using a Calix GigaSpire router. I have Rocky Linux 9 installed on the VNC server. When I am on the same network, I can connect to the VNC server perfectly fine, whether I use ipv6 or ipv4. However, when I try to connect while not connected to the same network, it doesn't get through whatsoever. I also use https://tools.keycdn.com/ipv6-ping to have it ping my ipv6 of the server to see if any pings get through, and none are going through either. I have disabled the firewall on my VNC server (i think anyway -- i stopped the firewalld service which afaik disabled the firewall?) However, despite all of this the ping test still does not go through. Does anyone have any pointers as to why? I cannot figure this out...

Thank you to this sub and whoever posted a while back asking about having a spare key since locking yourself out of your van with everything you own would obviously be a huge hassle.
Among the answers was keeping a spare key in your wallet which has saved me three times so far. Between having to change clothes in the back of the van and having to constantly keep track of where I put everything, sometimes I get absent minded and forget.
Anyway, figure out where to keep a spare key for yourself just in case.

Older offer didn't work out but got another offer. I was hesitant to accept the old offer as I was unsure about the prospects of the role and future growth.
Reasons for accepting the new offer:
1) The new role looks more visible and has chances of growth since group director is in India and most of the work is driven from India unlike other other MNCs which are US driven.
2) My current company is not doing great financially.
3) Got a nice bump to TC

2024.11.27 01:44 estheredna I just watched Polanski's MacBeth and have questions
I am not expert, I just read it and then watched.
The way the film took one nobleman, Ross, and made him a through line for MacBeth's story (including being in proximity to all the murders) makes so much sense. Is there a practical reason the original has an assortment of various thanes, instead of just Ross and MacDuff? Like- he had to fill out so many actor roles? Or the various people like Siward might be known to his audience?
Is there a canonical or assumed reason MacBeth is childless? Aside from the plot need to have him heirless, he seems to have no hope for a future heir.
I also noticed this version skipped the line about Lady MacBeth saying she'd kill a babe at her her own breast (in order to motivate M to kill Duncan) which I had pictured shocking MacBeth. Strange choice for a film that embraces the gruesome.
I thought it was a really good film and I do recommend it. I read and watched with my 14 year old son and he LOVED it, especially the battles and the scenes showing medieval festival life being fairly gritty but suthetic. He did think there was too much nudity. I was struck that even the gorgeous young actress playing Lady MacBeth's nudity is not really salacious. She just looked fragile.
