2024.11.27 20:25 Mister_Einstein New player's thoughts after 30 hours
First of all, I really love the game. It is a whole lot of fun and I will be playing it after I write this. The game however has way more issues than most other games I have played. I want to highlight one major problem.
Killers are way too strong. I started off the game playing survivor with my friends and now when they aren't on I play killer. I noticed killers being really broken first as survivor, but we could still 4 man escape pretty frequently against bad players. I have really started to understand just how broken they are after both playing killer myself and watching my friend play killer.
I have played 16 games as killer now, keeping track on a shared spreadsheet because my friend group likes tracking our wins and losses. out of those 16 games, I have 13 4ks and 3 3ks, which were all hatch. My friend who is more experienced makes the games look way easier and 4ks every game, but I still get the job done. This is horrible for a couple of reasons.
First of all, I'm brand new to killer, had never even played it and I'm getting 4 kills against full groups of survivors that have 10x more prestige on a single character than I could get combined from all my characters. Second of all, I have played most of these games with 1 or maybe 2 level 1 perks and 0 addons. I am trying out a bunch of different killers and I don't have the blood points to spend to get anything useful before I play them. The last reason killers are absurd, these players aren't even getting close to winning. I have had one game where they got down to the last generator and they immediately lost. Every other game they struggle doing more than 1 generator, and I also have 2 wins where they didn't even get 1.
TLDR & some extra; Killer is extremely broken, you can feel it when you play and you can see the win rates are absolutely absurd. If a decent player is on killer with full perks and addons the game is not fun for survivors at all. You can be a way better player than the killer and still not have a fighting chance as survivor. If you struggle getting 4ks on killer, you're doing something horribly wrong.

Is anyone else having a 1-2 sec delay on their audio? I am on ultimate tier, very good gigabit internet. I can play other games like STALKER 2 with no issues at 1440p/120fps but I can’t for the life of me get rid of the audio delay.
Tried disabling mic access to GFN, disabling frame gen in-game cause I thought it could be an issue there but still nothing. The stream is very smooth with no hiccups.
Any idea of what could cause it?

I've come across a few thought experiments that helps illustrate why the fetus' personhood should outweigh the bodily autonomy of the mother.
So, these thought experiments are directly arguing against PC proponents who advocate that bodily autonomy cannot and should not **ever** be reduced or completely taken away.
*I think it goes without saying that these are thought experiments, and the likelihood of such examples happening is irrelevant to the discussion at hand*
(1) A woman gives birth to a baby. 6 months later, she finds herself on road trip, with just herself and her baby. Unfortunately, she finds herself trapped in her car with the baby, in a snowstorm. The snowstorm will last a few days, and in meantime she is stuck. Fortunately, she has enough food and water to sustain herself, however there is no formula for the baby, so she must breastfeed the baby. She decides that she no longer wants to go through the labor of feeding the baby, and thus the baby dies.
I think most people would agree that the woman is morally wrong for not feeding the baby.
(2) A nanny is responsible for taking care of 8 bratty children in a large manor, in the middle of nowhere. They have no car or means of transporting to any town. The childrens' parents have gone on vacation for the summer, so the nanny has agreed to take care of them during that time. However, over the course of the summer, the nanny has had to go through emotional and physical turmoil trying to tame and take care of the children, and eventually she snaps, and decides to kill the children.
I think most people would agree that the nanny is morally wrong for killing the children.
How would the main proponents of PC reconcile and argue against these experiments? From my personal perspective, it seems to perfectly illustrate that as people, there are situations in which we believe that bodily autonomy can be trumped, and that context and nuance is needed.
Specifically, that it matters whether the thing that's being taken care of, whether a fetus, baby, child, even an animal, is conscious and/or has personhood.
I could see potential rebuttals of these thought experiments, by saying that they are not entirely analogous to pregnancy since:
- In (1), breastfeeding is less labor intensive than 9 months of pregnancy, thus the amount of possible labor and risk of health complications plays a variable.
- In (1) and (2), the baby and the children are not physically inside the woman.
However, to rebuttal that first point, where would we draw the line on what's too much labor and risk? To rebuttal the second point, why would the physical location of the being matter?

Asking for a friend. She is a U.S. citizen because of her father, has an American passport but lives in another country. Came to the US for college and went back home. Now is having a baby but is wondering whether she should come here to have the baby, because apparently if you have not lived in the US for 5 years, you can’t get insurance etc. is this true?
