2024.11.28 00:40 Clairebear357 Historical Fiction children’s book early 90s/native boy killed by sharks
I’m trying to remember the title of a book I read in the early 90s (4th or 5th grade). The book tells two parallel stories: one about a native boy preparing for his coming of age ritual (hunting a shark) and one about a white boy sailing (possibly with family?) on a ship in the same general, South Pacific area. I can’t remember a whole lot, other than at the end the white boy’s ship is capsizing and a ring on the rigging is hitting the mast and attracting a swarm of sharks, and then the poor native boy takes his dugout out to do his coming of age ritual and when he puts his shaker thing in the water to call the sharks, they swarm his boat instead and he’s eaten by the sharks. Which I thought was a crappy way for the book to end.
The book is NOT “Call it Courage”, but I read it after my class read “Call it Courage” because it was in the same part of the class library. It was probably around 150 pages, and age-appropriate for 4-5 graders. I cannot for the life of me remember any more details than what I’ve written, and no matter what I ask Google, it keeps trying to tell me it’s “Call it Courage”. It’s not.

I like to think I’m a rational person. My ex triggered me with some of her words she said to me of how she sees our breakup as a simple action for her and she doesn’t care if we ever meet up in person, even though she would like to (mixed signals??).
I couldn’t take it with the callousness and called her out on this before saying I wanted to keep the positive memories I had of her and not be tainted by all the heartache from her coldness. I didn’t even tell her I would block her and I’m surprised I did so impulsively. I always told her I would want to keep the lines of communication open, but I suppose I opened myself to this outcome by messaging her weekly to see if she still remained cold.
I feel a bit better but at the same time, a bit of shame for acting out of character and going back on my word.
I guess I’m craving some support or validation of my actions even though I should be the person giving myself that.

So out of the box my peak pro hasn’t been able to connect to 3dxl chamber. Red and white flashing lights midway through dab or it wouldn’t let me sometimes. The normal 3d chamber worked so I used that for about a month. I finally grew the balls and bought another 3dxl chamber and the exactttt same thing is happening. I’m reaching out to support tonight but I honestly have no idea wtf is happening. I paid $500 for this device and it doesn’t even work, I have a $30 cart next to me that gets me higher

Does anyone know if the Shark or Dyson will still be on sale next week or sometime soon after black friday? I really want to get either of the 2 but i didn’t realize our employee discounts don’t work along w the black friday deals 😭 Ik next weekend we get the additional 35%. Either way I will most likely purchase one of the 2 w our additional discount I just wish I knew sooner when it was still the early black friday deals so i could’ve combined & saved extra money 😭
Also I have very thick & wavy hair. Ive done some research & have found the t3 aire has better reviews than both the shark & dyson. Should I just go ahead & get the t3 aire or would the shark or dyson also be easy to use for my hairtype?
My parents said they’re willing to get the dyson for me (ik they can’t use my discount) but they would just give me the money on my card. I just feel terrible knowing the money that could be saved plus im worried about them spending so much on a tool that won’t work w my hairtype. (mainly cuz my mom rlly wants me to get the dyson since she knows its the most popular one)
