2024.11.28 00:34 GRIND2LEVEL Equipment question
I have a celestron hummingbird spoting scope. I've mounted an arca plate for use with a qd on a monopod or tripod. Problem is that it wont seem to fit in the provided case with the small arca plate. I'd like to leave it on and use it on the mono or freehand without taking the plate on and off. Given its size and profile I really havent found a decent alternative as a carrying pouch nor do I see a great way to attach a neck strap. Hoping maybe someone on here might have some good ideas...

Venting because I mainly need to get some shit off my chest.
Derealization and my panic attacks have ruined my life for the past 4 months. I moved to a new city with a friend, love the city and the house we’re in, but somewhere, something went wrong in my brain and I’ve felt like I’ve been in a dream ever since.
It’s recently been improving slightly with my SSRI (I THINK), but obviously that feeling of derealization is still here as I’m sure you’re all very familiar with. My dilemma is this:
1) Do I subject myself to social situations that have been causing me panic attacks and the derealization to worsen in hopes that it will show my brain not to worry anymore and return to normalcy?
2) Do I continue isolating, resting and doing fuck all until it goes away and I feel better?
This has kept me from proceeding with a job offer, it’s interfering with my relationship with my girlfriend and friends because I’m so distant and fucking WORRYING all the time, and I’m just so fucking exhausted trying to explain WHY I’m doing the things I’m doing and why I’ve been acting so insane lately.
No matter what I say or tell people, no one seems to understand that our brains are literally in a state of survival mode and that’s all we care about. SURVIVAL. EVEN THOUGH WE ARENT IN DANGER. We don’t WANT to be counting our heart beats, or meditating all the time, or trying to sleep as much as possible to turn our brains off, or doing ALL OF THIS crazy stuff to try and fix our brains. I simply want to return to being normal, not feeling scared to go to a restaurant or have beers with my friends, and be a better boyfriend and friend. Again, it’s just so fucking exhausting how no one seems to understand this derealization sensation. And the more I explain it and everyone just brushes it off the more I just want to stop fucking trying all together.

Hi all, I attempted to make a cheese sauce this evening using homemade sodium citrate (from citric acid and baking soda). It was a total failure. I ended up with a pan of vaguely cheese flavored water and a clump of cheese-like substance.
I combined the two ingredients for the sodium citrate at the ratio found on Modernist Kitchen in an amount of water appropriate for the amount of cheese I was using. I waited 20ish minutes for the bubbles to disappear, and heated the solution to a bare simmer. Then I added cheddar and Parmesan, kept it to a low simmer, and stirred, with poor results. At first it foamed, then some congealed into the clump mentioned above.
Does anyone have any insight as to why that might have happened, and what I can do to make the sauce properly in the future?

2024.11.28 00:34 Drift_Life Burning oil? Try this
My 2017 Kia at 50,000 miles was burning oil like nobody’s business. I changed the PCV valve, did nothing. I upped the oil weight from 5W-20 to 5W-30 (I chose Valvoline Restore and Protect but not sure if that matters) and it has dramatically reduced the amount of oil it consumes. I’ve driven 800 miles since the oil change and by now I would’ve been almost a quart low but just read the dipstick and it’s almost full.
Seems to be working for now. I’m not saying it will solve your oil consumption problem but it is worth a shot!

Per title above, my partner doesn't know what to call his sexuality.
We've been dating for 4 years. When we met I was a cis girl. A year into the relationship, I started to kinda question my gender. Two years in, I verbalized I didn't exactly feel like a woman but I didnt know what I was, said likely enby even though I wasn't comfy with that label. 3 years I officially asked to have neutral pronouns on me and told him that I felt along the androgynous/neutral spectrum. Another year down the line, I ask for he/him pronouns to be used as well and am androgynous/transmasc spectrum now. I've been on T for 8 months and a lot of changes happened, and it's about 50/50 for how people see me.
But anyway, even early in our relationship he considered himself pretty straight. (NSFW) He told me that he watched porn of people that looked androgynous/ more neutral or masc leaning, but still only of they had a front hole. He is not attracted to dicks essentially. But isn't attracted to anyone fully masc, / presents fully as a dude burly man kinda thing. He also cannot even fathom being sexually attracted to someone unless he has a genuine established connection.
But with my changes he's come to me and told me even if I went down the road of being fully masc he'd still be with me. That he can't fathom any changes I can go through without being attracted to me anymore unless I just did a 180 personality wise or something along those lines. He's talked about he gets choked up when asked his sexuality. He used to say straight still, but that's only because he doesn't know what to reply since he doesn't consider himself gay. And he feels like he's lying if he says queer (which is what I suggested since it's more broad) but he has imposter syndrome a bit around that.
Is there any sexuality label that fits his preference? I first kinda thought gynosexual, but it doesn't have to be someone who's fem for him. If he knows you emotionally, it can kinda be anyone. Unless they had a dick. He's just not into that.
