2024.11.28 10:32 Search-64 Atypical Natera, Chromosome 18
Hi, Just posting in case anyone can offer advice. I am in the UK, i had the NIPT done privately. As mentioned i received an atypical result linked to chromosome 18 as stated by Natera on the result. The genetic counselor and consultant (private) suggested i would need an amniocentesis with microarray to explore this further. I am under the NHS for my care. I showed my results at my 12 week scan and i am booked in at 16 weeks for an early anatomy scan and amniocentesis. The NHS consultant has advised that unless they see anomalies on the scan they will only offer the amnio Q-pcr. If they see anomalies they will offer the microarray. Due to the private consultant advising i need the microarray for my type of result I’m confused. He also advised microarray would be in more depth than karyotype (i have no idea of the difference). I can pay privately for the microarray if we get enough fluid on the day, but i don’t understand why the NHS consultant feels a Q-PCR amnio would be sufficient. I’ve called to ask and emailed, only the secretary responds and has not answered this other than it is NHS policy, it appears i can only ask this question and discuss on the day of the appointment. I don’t know to what extent Q-PCR can pick other things up on the chromosomes. Thanks

Hi all, 32m, things are going well ans extremly happy about the outcome so far. My heart feels alot more relaxed than before, crazy difference.
The only thing i am wondering is; i expirienced migraine before surgery from time to time. Now post surgery its heavy, nearly on a daily basis. Just after surgery it hit me strong, now its more of visual issues approx 30-1h and light headache. I have observed it appears after doing sports more regularly.
Anyone has some expierence and could guide here?

I’m a PhD student working on Higgs boson reconstruction through the ( H \to ZZ \to 4\ell ) channel using Pythia8. I’m trying to simulate events where the Higgs decays into two Z bosons, each subsequently decaying into two leptons (e.g., ( 2e2\mu ), ( 4e ), etc.). My goal is to reproduce the invariant mass distributions of the Higgs from the final-state leptons. Key Questions: 1. What specific Pythia settings should I use to handle Higgs production and decay properly? 2. How can I efficiently implement selection cuts like ( p_T ) thresholds and invariant mass windows for Z candidates? 3. Has anyone successfully reconstructed this decay and can share tips or code snippets?
I’m currently using: - Gluon fusion for Higgs production. - H to ZZ to 4e decay, filtering events based on Z1 and Z2 invariant mass cuts. - ROOT for histogramming invariant masses.
If you’ve worked on something similar or can guide me on best practices, I’d greatly appreciate your input. Thanks in advance!

I’ve been thinking about upgrading my RTX 3070 since I’ve been constantly maxing out my VRam. I’m playing my games in 1440p. I’ve pretty much narrowed down the options to either a RTX 4070 Ti Super or a 4080 Super. I just can’t figure out whether it’s worth paying the extra 200-250€ for maybe 20% more performance as well as whether I should get a better PSU incase I end up getting the 4080 Super, since it would utilize about 90% or more of my current PSU. I’m looking forward to your input and thanks in advance 🙏

La historia, resumida: Llevo un tiempo en una relación con una chica, aunque no una relación de pareja si no más bien de amigos con derecho a roce. Ella declinó mis intentos de una relación estable por motivos que no vienen al caso. El asunto es que con el tiempo ya no me he sentido cómodo con esa relación, pues busco algo más estable. Entonces, casi como un bluff, voy a hacer un último intento. Y como soy optimista (!) sé que me va a decir que no, y vengo aquí en busca de sugerencias de una canción que dedicarle en ese momento a manera de despedida.
La idea es alguna canción que hable de un adiós, de un sentimiento no correspondido, pero que lo haga siempre en clave romántica, en plan "para que seas feliz". Cero resentimiento ni nada negativo. Sólo quiero dejsr plasmado lo que siento, que lo sepa y que lo recuerde, aunque todo se haya acabado.
De preferencia, ha de ser en español, ya que su nivel de inglés no es muy elevado; aunque no me cierro a canciones en inglés. Cualquier género vale, pero de preferencia ritmos que no sean muy fuertes.
Opcional, aunque me encantaría, que sea algo que se pueda tocar sólo con piano, sin más instrumentación, ya que así podría tocar y cantar8 que queda muy bien.
