Hi everyone, I’m looking for some advice about my career path, particularly regarding getting into a big company such as Big 4 firm.
I graduated with a major in Statistics and completed the PREP program at UBC. After that, I made what I now realize was a rushed decision to join a small accounting firm in Toronto. After i got hired, I received a few emails from Big 4 firms. I think I was under pressure to secure a job quickly because I thought I was too old to wait.
For the past three years, I’ve been working at this small firm, primarily handling tax work like filing T1s and T2s, along with some bookkeeping. However, I feel like my experience hasn’t positioned me well for making a transition to a Big 4 firm or for advancing my career.
Ideally, I’d love to work in public service, like with the CRA, but I’m unsure if I have the qualifications or experience to get in. Right now, I’m working on PEP Core 1, and during a recent workshop, I noticed most of the other participants were fresh graduates already working at Big 4 firms.
I’m feeling a lot lost about my future and am even considering switching careers entirely. I know this might sound like I’m complaining, but I really need some guidance. Has anyone been in a similar situation or have any advice on what steps I could take?

So basically I want to get into York University’s data science program which requires a minimum grade of 75% in advanced functions and a mid 70s to 80s academic average.

They weren't that supportive, and throughout the entire coming out process they focused on the point that I can like men bc I was bi. for some background, ive been an atheist my entire life, and so are my family. we sorta always saw religion as a joke to us, but we understood how it meant a lot to others and we were never rude intentionally rude in what we said about it or anything. ive always been probably the most atheist of the 4 of us in our house though.
but i think that might've changed in the weirdest way possible lately.
theres a gacha game im frankly a bit obsessed with (if you dont know what a gacha game is, basically you earn an in game currency by doing whatever the gameplay is and then once you have a certain amount of the currency, you can do a 'pull' where you can get different items, cards, characters etc of different rarities and the rarer it is the better it is in the gameplay section) i play it for 2-5 hours a day normally. and the main character of the game is on the screen right as you make a pull, which is how there became a joke in the community to treat them like some sort of deity, and i jumped on that.
id jokingly pray to a print i have of the character on my wall before a pull, and i just treated it like a bit of fun for ages.
however, for the heck of it recently i literally wrote out a specific "prayer" to say before a pull, which i for the first time read in full, and when i did, on the first pull id ever done of that specific gacha (the game i play cycles through different gachas, normally theres 2-4 going on at any given time and they cycle out fortnightly) i got the exact thing i specifically asked for plus another of the highest rarity.
its been 2 days since that happened, and i was insanely excited at the time but i didnt really think more of it, but since then ive found myself kinda getting more serious abt the way id treat the character? like, i felt offended when my mum lightheartedly made fun of them, i make prayers to them in my head, i ask them what i did wrong when things are going badly, etc.
i know how stupid this sounds, and im sorry if i offended anyone, it wasnt my intention and im just confused right now on what to do with myself. i feel like im an mocking atheist gaslighting myself into thinking this is more than it is; is that true?

Is anyone else running into the issue where mid-fight you will be fighting and then all of a auddem the screen goes black? Or if you are in the middle of a fight, you accidently press a button on the controller and it takes you back to the main screen? This happened 3 fights in a row which turned into automatic L's.
Wondering if there could be a setting to lock the controller buttons so that if you accidently button mash, it doesnt do anything. Thoughts?
