2024.12.01 04:59 Mental_Sea_4946 A bit of my experience watching Lost for the first time.
Recently, I started watching Lost. I had never seen the series before, but I remember hearing a lot of good things about it when I was a kid. The only things I knew were the theories people used to talk about at the time. Before starting the show, I recalled a few of those theories. One was about the characters being dead and the island being a kind of purgatory. Another one I clearly remember was about them traveling through time. That’s all I knew about the series, and it’s been really enjoyable to watch with those theories in mind.
I’m on episode 4 of season 4 now, and I’m loving the show, but I have some points I’d like to comment on. One of them is how long the series takes to reveal the mysteries it introduces. Lost keeps viewers with countless unanswered questions, and every episode just adds more and more questions while the answers don’t come. This has honestly been discouraging me from continuing to watch, even though I’m really enjoying it. As a viewer, I feel kind of foolish; it makes me want to grab my phone and look up all the spoilers for the show sometimes. I’d like to know (without spoilers): do many of these questions eventually get answered or not?
Another point I wanted to mention is about the character Danielle, the French woman. Of all the significant characters shown in the series, she’s the only one we haven’t seen any flashbacks of (at least up to the beginning of season 4). I found that pretty strange since she’s a very relevant character in the story. Have you guys noticed that?
P.S. I finished season 4 and I’m almost halfway through season 5 now. For me, season 4 has been the “worst” so far. It’s not bad at all, but there are some story elements I didn’t like, such as the introduction of new characters and the plot itself. What I enjoyed the most about the season was the deeper focus on time travel and its implications.
As for season 5, I’m loving it. From the very first episode, I felt like this season was going to be amazing. The time travel aspects are being developed really well, and the series has stopped creating so many unanswered questions.
Regarding the Frenchwoman, I loved seeing that the writers didn’t completely forget about her and actually showed a bit of her past. That was absolutely spectacular.

A little over a year ago I tripped with some “friends”. I was deep in active addiction and we were doing acid pretty regularly at that point. This time was different. There had been some drama in the friend group but I thought it had been resolved. Apparently not. They all viciously turned on me, insulted me, threatened to hurt and stab me, made fun of my autism, etc. I froze and just sat there and took it. It was awful and fucked with my psyche in a way I can’t describe.
I’m clean now, so I guess that’s good. And I never spoke to those people again. I know it’s my fault for abusing any kind of substance when I’m on the spectrum, I have no excuse for that. But damn, it messed me up. I barely leave the house, and when I do I almost hyperventilate walking out the door. Being around people horrifies me, even the people close to me, like my family and sometimes even my boyfriend. I feel like I have no personality and can’t carry a conversation anymore because I’m always just terrified and in a mode of fight or flight. I’m terrified of everyone. I feel everyone’s going to betray me the way they did.
I just needed to voice this somewhere. I’ll probably end up deleting it. I’ve never told anyone, not even my therapist, but it lives rent free in my head every day. I hate my life, I hate those people, I hate myself and what I’ve become. I’d give anything to take it all back. Please, please be careful with substances when you have a mental illness. The high is not worth the consequences.

Thinking about joining the 10 month Dalton CFP course program that begins in January, but I’ve already booked a 2 month vacation in late May/early June. I’m curious how much flexibility there is in taking midterms/finals early, or for pausing a course?
They told me you can take exams at any point and read ahead if you want, but if I join this January cohort, the Tax course mid term review is on the day I leave for vacation and the midterm is scheduled 2 days later. I’ve heard the tax course can be the most challenging for some.. Is it a bad idea to try and cram this 8 week tax course in 6 weeks, could you have done it?
I’m also curious if I could start with the January cohort, but then take a 2 month break after completing investments course, then join the cohort that starts in March by starting the Tax class with them on 7/15/25.
Any thoughts or experience on the flexibility of their program is appreciated.

Hey all,
First time travel nurse here, so I'm.working on a psych unit have had 1.5 half days orientation on days , these days were kinda scuffed since epic, omnicell, gluc ect. So I go into my first night orientation (I'm hired on nights) and there's no other nurse I'm working. It becomes a gong show then settles down later, is this a big deal or no? I feel like working the week and then leaving.

I noticed this a while ago but now I'm compulsively redditing so I'm commenting on it. I'm probably late to the party, but I wanted to say this:
It starts with the "story [that] will be told." That just comes across as a generic "Your name and deeds as a hero will resound through the ages" Achilles-style, right (I swear I am not trying to reference Pyrrha here)? At most it resonates with Salem's opening monologue about "Mankind is so fond of recounting exploits..." but that's still relatively generic.
But, "We are lightning / Straying from the thunder" deepens the meaning to a surprising degree. Team RWBY and their fellows are obviously the lightning, so what is the thunder? The stories that will be told. In other words, "This Will Be The Day" explicitly acknowledges that the stories and myths that develop around you will stray from the truth. Except it goes even harder than that, because it says that the lightning is straying from the thunder, not the other way around. The stories are simultaneously foretold and foregrounded as the present. This also brings to mind Ozma and Salem, because they are first known as their legends, so when the characters learn the truth, the truth is straying from the myth.
This even ties into Ruby's status in Remnant after her message in V8, as we see in the bonus animatic/epilogue episode as well as the "Boba" episode of Beyond. The story in this case is not, at least what little we've seen especially distorted, but it clearly seems to gloss over Ruby's status as a "normal girl with normal knees" who has just been placed in a particular position.
TL;DR - This Will Be The Day represents RWBY's subversion of its own themes quite well.
This is about as much detail as I can go into without repeating myself more than I already have. Thank you for indulging me.
