As the owner of a boxing/MMA gym, I would see up to 1000 classes per year. I would also take the classes myself from the best trainers, or even hire a top pro on occasion for private lessons. This gave me a large opportunity to capture and archive great combos for future reference.
And of course I'd read books on boxing, Muay Thai, self defense, etc. and write down what I thought were great combinations.
Then there's Youtube. Whether it's a professional fighter or that fighter's trainer, I'm not sure how many thousands of hours I've watched. Even to this day. I'm just a constant student of the craft. I'd grab combinations from there.
Of course, watching UFC fights, you'd grab maybe a combo that led to a knockout, or just seemed cool.
And sometimes I'd just experiment on the bag and see what worked well or flowed naturally out of a given technique.
With all of these combinations, I'd try them out on the heavy bag. Some of them were great for sparring or doing drills with a partner, but for one reason or another they just didn't work well on the heavy bag, so I'd discard them.
The most important things about the combinations is: I just wanted a ton of variety. And I didn't want to do just "drills" all the time, like Jab, Cross. Double jab, cross. Triple jab, cross.
Ok, I get it. Basics are important. So yeah, I have a few drills that are scattered in here and there, but most of what we're doing are fight combinations because the work at the heavy bag is Fight Training, and you're treating the back as if it were an actual opponent. That means you're CONSTANTLY vigilant for what the opponent can do to you, and of the fact that as soon as you've thrown your last strike, the opponent is likely coming after you. This is not how most people train. But it's the ONLY way to train in my book, so when you train on this System, this is how you do it. Much much more can be said about that, and maybe I'll further detail that in future posts.

I work rural public transit, so our vehicles aren't the modern busses you see in a city. Our company uses Ford transit vans to make multiple stops and transport people going in the same direction. Since these aren't actual busses, people usually have to open the door to let themselves out unless they are in a wheelchair or have some other disability.
Yesterday, I was driving one of the older more outdated vans that's slated to be retired in the near future. It's not the best but it's a "will get you from A to B" type of shitbox. The check engine light is perpetually on, the interior lights are so dim you need to use a flashlight to see with at night, and the seat belts need to be tugged on at just the right angle or you can't get them to work.
We don't normally put it on the road unless something else happened to one of the other vehicles in the fleet and currently two are in the shop for repairs. But everytime the company does need to use the shitbox I get assigned it and I half suspect it's some form of punishment at this point.
Well, I had this sweet older lady in my vehicle and I was taking her home for the day. She offered me candy, and we made a pitstop at a gas station so she could buy some cigarettes where she also offered to buy me a drink. "No, thank you ma'am, I already have one." I told her, indicating the can of Rockstar that serves to refuel my insomnia diminished energy levels.
She was the only one on board by the time we neared her house. She was chattering away about how the young man who picked her up had a hard time getting out of her driveway, how he had a hard time getting turned around in the usual spot, almost hit a tree, and had to back out. It was at that time that I recalled hearing something over the radio that morning about whoever dropped off this lady had to be in one of the newer AWD or 4WD vehicles to enter her long, narrow driveway or they risk crashing into a tree or the ditch.
I told her, "I'm sorry ma'am but I will not be able to drive down your driveway today. I can help you walk up to your door."
She seemed to think that was unacceptable. She insisted that I should be able to drive up her driveway. When I told her that the vehicle I was in was too old to risk it, especially if the driver who picked her up had a difficult time in 4WD, she went from sweet old lady to batshit crazy.
She stood up and opened the door of the van while it was still rolling!
I immediately stepped on the brakes and had to tell her to never open the door on a moving vehicle! I was thankfully only going like 5 mph. I was more than willing to help her walk up to her door. But she stubbornly refused, jumped out of the van and stormed off on her own.
I was rattled for the rest of the day. I couldn't believe I had to tell a grown adult, a lady older than my mom, to not open the door on a moving vehicle. Wtf.

I am on the minipill incassia and my last real period was on December 2nd. I had irregular bleeding from 12/13-12/17. I haven’t missed a pill, but I did go on a trip where the timezone changed EST—> PST but I took my pill at my respective hour I would in my normal timezone 7pm PST = 10pm pst . Is this normal? I usually get a period with this pill, but now I just haven’t had anything but some whiteish light brown discharge. Should I test? I have never missed a pill but I have had unprotected sex, and I feel like some stomach pain but I’m not sure if that’s my diet or something else? Could my period just be coming super late?

I’m writing this on behalf of my boyfriend, as we love Reddit stories and we’re hoping the community can give us some insight.
My boyfriend and I (both 20) have been in a happy, committed relationship since September 21 of 2024. About a week before we met, he hooked up with a girl (24 - let’s call her Jane). They only hooked up once, and he says they used protection. Afterward, Jane kept hitting him up throughout the next week, asking to meet up again. My boyfriend wasn’t interested and decided to block her number and on Instagram to end the communication, though he left other platforms like TikTok open (where she continued to like his videos and view his profile).
Recently, he mentioned feeling bad about the way he ghosted her and I suggested he should reach out to clear the air. We crafted a text earlier answering all of the questions that he left unanswered when he blocked her. Jane responded, and what she shared completely blindsided us. This is essentially what she said:
• Shortly after they hooked up (unclear how long but she said a week or 2) she was in a severe car accident involving a semi-truck. • While in the hospital, she found out she was pregnant and believes my boyfriend is the only possible father, as she claims she wasn’t with anyone else before or after him. • She tried reaching out to tell him about the pregnancy, but she says she couldn’t get in touch because he had blocked her. • She later discovered she has endometriosis, and due to complications, she lost the baby. • She says she went through all of this alone but eventually reconnected with her ex. They’re now engaged, homeowners, and moving forward in life, though she’s still dealing with the trauma and attends therapy regularly.
While my boyfriend feels terrible about how things unfolded, there are several things about Jane’s story that don’t fully add up: 1. My boyfriend used protection during their one-time hookup and doesn’t believe he could be the father. 2. She says she couldn’t reach him because he blocked her, but they were still friends on TikTok, where she interacted with his account. 3. Jane says she has proof of everything but hasn’t sent it, which leaves us even more confused.
We don’t want to invalidate her experiences AT ALL, this is a devastating situation and I promise you there is no ill thought on my behalf as his girlfriend. I truly feel for her.
We are struggling to know how to feel about this. I’m not writing this post for me - neither of us have dealt with this and I am simply trying to help my boyfriend understand his feelings.
My boyfriend wonders if she’s being entirely truthful, but he also feels guilty and wishes he had handled things better. Meanwhile, I feel bad for Jane and everything she’s been through, but I also don’t know how to support my boyfriend as he processes all this. I’m not mad at him !!!! This is difficult for all parties.
Were we wrong for reaching out after so long? Is my boyfriend an AH for ghosting her in the first place? How do I l even begin to help him move forward from this? We were hopeful Reddit would have some good advice or clarity.
