2025.01.29 21:41 EpicDioBrando TMJ worse because of Deviated Septum

I recently realized that my deviated septum is a huge problem that contributes to my TMJ issues. My Primary Care doc referred me to an Ear Nose and Throat doc, where I learned that my septum is S shaped, has an issue where one nostril completely collapses when I breathe in too deeply, and my turbinettes are abnormally large, further blocking airflow.
Any tiny amount of snot in my nose at all, and I absolutely can't breathe through it. Of course I have allergy issues, and the snot piles up excessively. I breathe and sleep with my mouth wide open, because I can rarely breathe through my nose. If I can breathe through my nose, it's only through one tiny nostril at a time. Sometimes my mouth gets stuck open. I didn't realize that people slept with their mouths closed until I discussed it with my Physical Therapists. Apparently, sleeping with it open can put stress on TMJ. In the daytime, I try to make my mouth look closed but I leave it barely open so I can breathe. However, I can't control my mouth hanging open when I sleep.
My insurance just approved my rhinoplasty procedure to fix my airway. My doctors think this will be life changing in many ways; including for my TMJ. I will come back to this sub after I've lived with my new nose for a while to let you know how things have changed! I'm ecstatic. I can't wait to breathe and be able to tape my mouth shut when I'm sleeping so it doesn't get stuck open and dry out. The end of Botox, physical therapy, and exhausting muscle relaxers for my TMJ problems may be in sight!
Before I learned about my septum problems, I thought I just wasn't as fit as everyone else and had to breathe extra through my mouth because of it. I used to see people walking up hills on college campus with their mouths all shut, and I just thought that EVERYONE was more fit than me. Things started to become confusing when I began training and studying to get my Personal Training Cert. I didn't understand why I was still having to breathe through my mouth when I was fitter than most. I decided to analyze my nose myself, and I felt how astronomically tiny my nose holes are up near my nose bridge. I shoved my fingers in and really felt around. I always outwardly had a little bump on my nose bridge only on the right side, and I didn't think anything of it. Turns out, it's my tipsy topsy septum sticking out. I wish I had realized that something may be wrong years ago.
My procedure includes breaking and re-setting my nose to correct my S shaped septum, widening my near non-existent nose bridge, reinforcing the sides of my nose so that they don't collapse, and reducing my turbinettes. Insurance won't cover the cosmetic problem of my septum visibly creating a bump on the right side of my nose bridge, so I'm paying for that part out of pocket. The doctor calls it a "dorsal hump". I really wanted to get that removed as well so that I can see what my nose is supposed to look like without the deviation jutting out. I'm mostly excited just to be able to breathe normally. I don't even know what that will be like, but I know it will be amazing.
Has anybody else had an experience like this?

We all know very well that cider should be fermented at a low temperature and as slowly as possible to preserve all its aromatic properties. However, I have a question: if a specialized yeast is used and fermentation takes place at the lower end of the temperature range specified for this yeast, could this low temperature prevent the yeast from expressing its best aromatic characteristics, which might develop more fully at a slightly warmer temperature?
I want to ask whether fermentation at too low a temperature could prevent the yeast from expressing its aromatic and flavor characteristics. For example as far as I know, kveik yeast actually prefer higher temperatures to produce esters like orange or banana notes.
I would like to balance both aspects and get the best of both—the characteristics from the apple blend and the qualities imparted by the yeast.
At this moment Im runing one apple variety since 2.November with TF-6 and AC-4 at around 11 degree C . The TF6 is not aromatic at all (as stated in Safcider page). AC-4 is more acidic, aromatic and maybe crisp as stated on Saf page.
Im also runing Pomona,So4 and AS-2 at 14-18C. In the begining of fermentation Pomona was tropical but after 4 months now all this aroma has subsided. AS-2 from green apple has turned to apple sauce just like stated on Saf page. So4 on the other hand...looks like a damn winner, sharp fresh apple notes, I just love it.
Four months have passed—could these aromas develop further and become more pronounced in the next few months?

Currently on a long ride - dude in front of me starts vaping. I figure it'll be a puff or two and I don't want to start any problems.
Dude has the nerve to take 2 or 3 puffs every 10 mins or so, or more. Like, no. I'm getting all of the smoke (along with the stranger next to me).
I ask him nicely to stop and he gives me attitude, and says he does it all the time. So I gave him attitude right back and told him I don't care, there's no smoking and I don't want to smell his crap all night. He still was a jerk arguing being like, "I'll stop, just for you" and wished me a good night sarcastically as if I was the jerk.
I wasn't going to get the conductor involved bc I don't want to see people get kicked off, but my man, don't talk to me like that. If I see one more puff, I don't care if snitches get stitches, lol.
Sorry, just had to vent, and I absolutely hate when men think they can talk to me condescendingly. Do better.

2025.01.29 21:41 prassjunkit Anyone dealt with pancreatitis in their dog before and how did it run its course?

My 3 year old corgi was diagnosed with acute pancreatitis yesterday after having bloody diarrhea and vomiting starting Sunday morning. Both the ER vet that we brought him to on Sunday and the regular vet when we brought him in on Monday suspected gastritis/colitis. He got fluids 2 days in a row, an anti nausea shot at the ER vet and then our regular vet sent us home with some tablets for nausea as well as some metronidazole for his diarrhea. He continued to not eat into yesterday so we brought him back in and his vet ran bloodwork that confirmed he had pancreatitis. We paid for a drug called PANOQUELL which is essentially where they receive 3 injections 3 days in a row and its specifically designed to target pancreatitis. We also were sent home with some gabapentin for any pain.
We are on day two of the Panoquell injections. He was up all night last night trying to get me to let him outside but only some of the times he would actually have diarrhea, the other times he just wandered around and seemed super restless. He did get all of his medicine before he went to bed but I wonder if he might still have been uncomfortable. I will maybe try to give him two of his gabapentin tonight (the instructions state he can have 1-2 capsules twice per day and we have only been giving him 1 twice a day). He thankfully has not vomited at all since Sunday and both yesterday and today he was willing to eat small amounts of his bland food. His energy level this entire time has stayed pretty much the same.
That being said, I am supposed to be going out of town on a trip Monday, February 10th and my dog is supposed to be staying with my sister in law along with our other dog. I am not going to be comfortable going out of town and leaving him with someone else if hes still feeling the way he is now. I am hoping after his last injection tomorrow he really starts to turn a corner and hopefully by weeks end is feeling a lot better but I'm still worried. Has anyone dealt with this before (pancreatitis) and how quickly did it take your dog to start to return to normal?

Tomorrow is the surgery big day! Endometrioid adenocarcinoma grade 2, along with a 8cm adnexal mass (could be cancer, could be nothing) and I'm getting all my iliac lymph nodes removed. But besides that, I just wanted to thank everyone who has been nice to me here and has given me encouragement. It really means a lot to me and I truly appreciate everyone who has been awesome! I hope we all continue to kick ass and keep up the good fight! Thanks again!
