2025.01.18 11:01 Lorcryst GW 1st Gen Thanquol and Boneripper, first wargame miniatures I completely painted.
Greetings.
Those are the first "wargaming" miniatures I ever completed, all the way back in 1995.
I know that the picture is bad, I also know that the paint jobs are very basic even if I did my best back then.
I'm not posting this for comments, critiques or advice.
I'm not ashamed of those, I know they are objectively bad by today's standards, but they are the start of my personal journey into scale model painting.
The first time I used a wash, the first time I tried to highlight edges and small details, the first time I did more than just painting the base an uniform green an instead used railroad scale modelling "ballast".
I had not even learned about thinning paints back then !
I keep those miniatures around, and I took that picture before learning about "scale model picture taking", because I think it's a good idea to keep archives of my own previous works, to remember where I started and see the progress I made (or not) over the decades.
I've lost access to almost all of my Cloud Storage services, and thus most of my previous pictures, but I've kept that one on an USB drive.
I'm slowly getting back into the painting miniature hobby, and I thought posting an oldie now, and more recent works later, would help me see if I did not forget too much after my forced break. That is, if I can actually get back to my painting table without Life getting in the way of my projects !
If any of you members of this subreddit also have some pictures of "oldies", feel free to post them in this thread, and share your experiences of "growing up" during your painting journey.

(new to printing btw) I was printing the Death Star Skull Art on my p1s bambu printer and I thought i heard what sounds like its scraping. does it just sound like that because the vibrations are so fast that it mimics a scraping noise or can is it actually scraping? Would the nozzle be damaged by this?

Hi everyone, I’m currently facing a tough situation at work and could really use some advice.
I’m not Swiss or German, and from the very beginning, I felt some kind of hostility from my team. I think it might be because I don’t speak German, or maybe they just don’t like me for some reason—possibly even how I look. To be honest, I’ve also noticed some behaviors that felt discriminatory.
When I started, I noticed that many of the new joiners had internal contacts or people they already knew within the team. I didn’t have that advantage. I’m a naturally open and friendly person, and I try to be kind to everyone, but I feel like this behavior isn’t appreciated here. Instead, I’ve noticed that some colleagues only smile when someone makes a mistake or apologizes for something—it feels quite toxic.
I’ve tried to ignore all of this and focus on my work, but recently my manager (who was somewhat of a shield for me) changed roles. Now I feel completely exposed. It’s obvious that some colleagues talk behind my back and are actively trying to make my work harder. Having professional experience, I can clearly see the small sabotages and manipulative tactics they use.
I feel like I’m fighting a psychological war every time I step into the office. Am I the problem here? How can I handle this situation without losing my mind?
I genuinely want to grow professionally despite these challenges, but it’s becoming increasingly hard. Any advice or similar experiences would be greatly appreciated.
