When I was a kid maybe like 10-12, I remember getting a couple coins from my mum to get chicken and chips while she was next door at a hair salon.
I remembered the guy behind the counter offering me extra wings if I came round the back.
My gut told me there was a weird vibe and I remember running back to my mum.
I unfortunately experienced sexual abuse through my childhood on multiple occasions which made me selectively mute and develop neurological issues.
The amount of men who’d try to talk to me while wearing my school uniform was crazy.

Trying to plan a honeymoon to St. Lucia in the next few months while the weather is still good down there. We are also trying to do it sooner than later, in case the wifey gets pregnant ;). Is this doable to find a luxury resort with a 10-15k budget? Or would it be worth the savings to wait and find a deal for later this year or next year? Hello, I’m 22 and I’ve been dealing with some stomach stuff on and off this past year. Just for some brief history, I first had issues with my stomach last summer when I was dealing with a lot of heavy constipation and weird texture stools. It was causing issues like unreleased gas, upset stomach, and other physical manifestations. I went to get a colonoscopy/endoscopy done and they said all was great with the colonoscopy and the endoscopy just found mild and acute gastritis. Everything has been fine for the most part after, but I don’t know what’s happening now. So I try to eat healthy with eating lots of protein and fiber since I’m trying to lose weight. I have done this diet before but am going at it again after stopping for a while of eating crap. I noticed it last week when I was washing my cats water fountain, I was finishing up cleaning it when I felt a real sudden urge to go to the bathroom and then all of a sudden I started feeling my heart beat rapidly rise and then I felt really light headed all of a sudden. It was scary since that never happens before, I didn’t drink much water at all that until the last few hours of the day where I was drinking a lot of water. Ever since then I’ve been feeing a little weird in my head and feel kind of out of it as well stomach upset. I noticed that I start feeling more weird and somewhat light headed right before I need to go to the bathroom. My stool has been a little more liquidy and I’ve seen that it seems like I’m seeing pieces of food from food I ate just 8-12 hours ago. It’s like pieces of veggies and stuff. I’m really concerned. I struggle with a lot of health anxiety and my mind always says brain tumor but it’s weird how related it is to my stomach. Has anyone experienced this and knows what it might mean? I’m seeing the doctor next week and I just want to have an idea of what it could be

Hey guys, found out that my camera 30% of the time focuses poorly. It's almost perfect, but not quite. Here are some test shots:

All of my lenses behave in the same way, Sigma 90mm f2.8 is the worst, that's basically unusable. It's super important to say that manual focused shots are perfect 100% of the time, it's only auto focus that is completely screwed. What could be wrong? I tried cleaning the mirror and the AF sensor to no avail. I even cracked the translucent mirror while cleaning, I have no idea how, but the crack I'd say makes no difference, it was missing focus before the crack, it's missing focus now (probably, not 100% sure about this last fact).

Hi, I am 38 and very eager to buy a home some day. It has always felt out of reach for me however as I live in New York and the high cost of living has made it very difficult to grow my savings over the years. I also did a career change a few years back which involved me investing in training and not working for several months. This did put me in a better situation however as I now make more money with a 150k per year salary. My savings however are not very high at around 40k and if I could afford anything it would be a small apartment here in some outer area of NYC. This would be fine however as I don't have kids so need a house.
My rent is not cheap here so it's definitely not easy to save and I also travel abroad twice a year to see my family. I have never actually tried to get approved for a loan to buy property as I figured I never had enough for a downpayment. But lately I am starting to ask myself how much I would actually need. I always had a round figure of 100k in my head to comfortably buy a place but the reality is that is could take me many years to save 60k. A job switch is not really on the cards right now either as I have a good stable private sector job in tech and with all the layoffs in the commercial sector right now I don't think moving jobs would be the smartest thing for me.
So I am wondering if any of you can offer any advice for somebody in my situation. On paper I am doing pretty well as 150k is definitely a very good salary but the bar just seems so high these days that it still feels out of reach. I know people who make more than me here in NYC who also still rent. The only person I actually know who has invested in property makes over 300k per year and has had this job for a long time. I was making about 60k per year up until my career switch a few years ago so I never saved much over the past 10 years and always just got by. Anyway I appreciate any feedback you may have.

Hi. I had laryngitis 2 weeks ago and could not speak at all not even a whisper for about 4 days. Eventually my voice came back but my singing voice is not the same. I cannot even talk in high head voice and cannot sing in head voice at all. When I try to sing in head voice it’s just this breathy whispery sound. I do think there is a slight improvement from when I first got my voice back but not much. My head voice is so gone that I cannot even scream high pitch and sometimes if I talk higher pitch than my usual voice it cuts out. I am really worried that this is vocal damage. Surely after 2 weeks my voice should be back. I am so worried I will not be able to sing in head voice ever again as I love singing so much. Can somebody please tell me how to bring my voice back and if it’s damage how long will it take to come back? I really need my voice back so please somebody tell me how long it will take to come back. Thank you 😊

2025.01.18 22:51 Bombadombaway I have a good work life balance and am paid market rate for the job. Should I still have the uncomfortable pay rise conversation? Or just let it be.
I have worked myself into a nice and almost fully remote job (I go into the office maybe 1-2 times a month) and work 3 days a week for £38k salary (£63k full time) which is going rate for my job.
I love the flexibility I have. I probably only work at 50% of the hours I’m paid for. I do chores, cook, shower etc. I get the job done and my employer seems happy with me. I’ve worked here 3 years having just come back from mat leave.
Now in that time I’ve only had small annual salary increases, about 3.5% yearly.
My partner thinks it’s worth pushing for a bigger pay rise so that my wage is more competitive, but I’m reluctant as I feel I’ve got a good thing going. I’m also terrible with advocating for myself so I find those kinds of conversations really awkward.
I’m worried it will make them think of me in a different light, and cast a bit of a spotlight onto me and they might ask for more from me. I like things the way they are too.
Has anyone ever asked for more when they’re already quite happy with how things are? Am I just being greedy or is just good sense to keep pushing things up? I’m not particularly ambitious and would happily keep doing this job as long as they would have me.
