Hey, all. I read the books about 25 years ago and don’t remember them very well, so what I know of the story comes from the films. I’m trying to understand it all better.
Is the One Ring alive/sentient? I know Sauron’s life force is bound to the ring, but is this a fair interpretation?
At the original battle when Isildur (sorry for any misspellings) cuts off Sauron’s hand and he dies, there’s giant shockwave and Sauron’s forces all collapse. If the orcs are pulled out of the ground (birthed in dirt, say) why would they also die? Are they connected to Sauron somehow beyond just being minions?
Why won’t Gandalf take the ring? He says he would use it to do good but through him the ring would have a terrible power (or something similar). Does this mean that Sauron would take over his mind if he put it on?
What happened to the elves and the dwarfs who received rings? The humans became Nazgûl but what about the others? Galadriel is shown wearing her ring rather happily which is odd considering it was given to her by a dark lord, although I get that they were all deceived.
Why does Boromir want the ring? Why doesn’t Frodo say to him “if you put that on the Nazgûl will come and kill you”? What was Boromir planning on doing with it besides taking it to Gondor? It’s not exactly useful…?
What’s the test that Galadriel speaks of? Is she saying if she puts the ring on she’d be strong enough not to become a minion for Sauron or that she’s just able to resist its call?
I think the story is amazing, I’m just a bit shaky on what the ring can and can’t do.

2025.01.19 17:40 Extension_Car_9240 Freshman Year of college blues ruined my gpa
As it states, I am a freshman in college and I think my depression ruined my gpa. I graduated high school with a 3.8 gpa and while I know that hardly means anything in college, I assumed it meant I would be able to manage my depressive episodes while staying on top of my school work. Obviously it did not. I failed one class and got a D in a four credit class which dropped my gpa to a 1.80. I have dreams of going to medical school but I feel like the schools might look at my fall semester and turn me away. I don’t know what to do but I’m so stressed out about it. I also transferred credits from a community college so feel like it looks insanely bad on my transcript because I have 35 or 36 credits AND a 1.80 gpa. Now I’m retaking some classes and trying to focus on getting an A in them but I just feel like I’m letting everyone down and I am truly embarrassed about it but I have no one to talk to about this.

 | Ok so car had been sitting then started it up and after driving it a few mins it started overheating while sitting. (Didn’t let it completely over heat) the gauge was jumping and falling all over the place. Thought it was the thermostat because after it the hose was cool to the touch. Replaced it and now it’s not over heating while burping but the heater in the cabin aren’t getting hot and it’s pushing new bibles form somewhere. Think it might be a leak somewhere but it see no smoke and no leak under the car or in the engine bay. Any thoughts? Obviously highly debated topic, but I just recently started going to a Baptist church and really enjoy it, but have always disagreed with the idea that you cannot lose your salvation. Barber even went as far to quote Matthew 7:15. Surely that was meant to be taken as a message of some sort. Haven't we been in the middle of "disclosure" since 2007, when France released their files, and other countries followed? It's just been as many say, "a slow drip". Just because so many choose to look the other way, doesn't mean it hasn't happened. But it seems the times are changing, and the tide turning. Trump says he'll tell the American people what's "really going on" w/in days of taking office. Elizondo says "they" will tell us there's a mothership on its way. And it's a lie. He'll also be traveling to meet with religious leaders from other countries (this is puzzling. Why him?) There's talk of more whistleblowers coming forward, from several sources. Drones popping up around the globe. Orbs interacting with people. Remote viewing. Psionics. The SkyWatcher organization. And not much mention of it in the propaganda machine that is mainstream media. Ignorance is bliss I guess. So much to take in and process. But what stands out the most, what kept me up last night, were the spiritual and religious overtones I heard when he spoke. What does it all mean and where are we headed?!?
