Just what the title says, I was using my EZ Flash Omega and it stopped working. I'm not too sure what's wrong with it, as I've inserted it into multiple different systems which both work fine, I've used different SD cards and they don't seem to work with it, so clearly it must be an issue with the physical cartridge itself.

I’m curious—how common is it in STEM PhD programs for students to start their own research projects, either by finding funding for it, self-funding, or simply pursuing it as long as it aligns with their advisor’s field? For example, let’s say you’re a bioengineering PhD student—would it be normal or acceptable to propose and work on your own project, like gene editing or animal engineering, as long as it falls under the general umbrella of bioengineering? Or is that entirely dependent on the principal investigator (PI)?
The reason I’m asking is that I’m considering applying to PhD programs, but I’d like to avoid a situation where my PI forces me to work exclusively on a specific project that I have little interest in. Ideally, I’d want the freedom to design and pursue my own research topic for my dissertation, but I’m unsure how flexible most programs or advisors are about that. Is this something that varies significantly by field, institution, or the PI’s management style? And how realistic is it for a PhD student to find independent funding to support their own project?
I’d love some insight into how common or feasible this is, and whether this kind of independence is something I should be looking for when choosing programs and advisors.

Hi Everyone,
I'm just seeking thoughts/experiences please around travelling with a Snoo, especially on a cruise? My DH and I are hoping to start TTC later this year. We have previously tried IVF due to DH's health condition, but we were not good candidates. For this reason, we're not sure if/when we will conceive and life goes on in the meantime. We are planning a once in a lifetime trip with family for Christmas 2026 which would include a European river cruise + international travel via plane/train & potentially transfers via bus. This holiday needs to be booked in the next few months to take advantage of early bird deals.
We may not even be blessed with a baby so this may not be an issue, but my initial thoughts (if there is a baby) were that transporting a Snoo via plane is probably ok, having the Snoo in our cabin on the cruise is a good idea but transporting the Snoo via bus/train might be difficult. Can anyone confirm their experiences please? Knowing this ahead of time would help me in the planning process.

My last chipset was the 8700K which worked perfectly out of the box. I am currently on my second 14700K as my first one I purchased in May 2024 was sacked and would crash before I even installed windows. I had a completely fresh build. Intel i7-14700K Asus ROG Strix Z790 Gaming E Wifi Aorus RTX 4080 Super Master Corsair Vengance 6000Mhz Aorus Waterforce X 360 II 360mm Liquid Cooler I am was running intel defaults for awhile now and wanted to see if the new microcode update has fixed stability to allow me to push my CPU a little more safely, now that the warranty on the chips have been extended I wanted to check as see if everything looks on to someone with more experience. I have no experienced any stability issues but that doesn't mean the OC is safe. My current settings that I changed are as follows: I changed from intel defaults to ASUS Advanced OC SVID is set to auto I also turned on AI overclock to give it a try While running Cinebench R23 my temps and voltage along with the clock speeds are in the image. I ran this test about 2 times, 1 with 1 pass and the other with a 10min interval to check for throttling, both on multicore. My VCORE seems to be within what I have seen online along with the VID which I think is acceptable. Obviously the wattages seem crazy and that's kind of the thing I am worried about. With the OC and AI overlocking off I am sitting at way lower score and I also get way higher temps with intel defaults and the SVID behavior on Intel Fail safe. I have a Huntsman V3 Pro Mini, and sometime on start of the system the lights don't lite up and the keyboard is completely unresponsive. I unplug and plug in the USB-C to the keyboard, and this fixes it until the next time. Is there a way to eliminate this problem fully?

I recently saw in the WSJ that Harvard MBAs are struggling to find employment.
23% are still looking for jobs after graduating in spring 2024. In 2022, that number was only 10%.
How could this be?
It seems that MBA seekers are actually risk averse people. They pursue a career path that "guarantees" them a high paying and respected job.
The dirty little secret? The middle management positions that they've been groomed for are gone. And we've destroyed them.
You see, building an org chart historically has come from people and their preferred tools.
Say you need to build a sales motion. You hire a head of sales, maybe a CMO. They bring their CRM of choice, something outdated and expensive. They need someone to be responsible for it. Then you need a software for financials.
Then you hire a CFO and the minions that surround them in accounting. Of course they bring all of their softwares too.
All of a sudden, you have stewards of these tools. It's created process where there was flow.
Constipation where there was movement.
An innovator didn't setup these processes, often it's the people who were taught "best practices" at a fancy MBA.
For the first time, however, companies don't need this form of knowledge worker, if you can call them that.
They are being phased out.
A friend of mine said that he used Gemini for a deep research project for his firm and it was similar quality to a McKinsey report they payed 2m for.
Management consultants should be afraid.
AI, agents and AGI. The triple A's of this year to end the bureaucracy and stagnation of mangers of managers.
Along with it, they will be the strong wind to dispel the mind fog of genies and soothsayers.
Meaning your average employee or VA is now a Goliath, if he can use the tools correctly.

Has anyone weighed out the pros and cons of leaving the country? I’ve been holding on to hope for soooo long everything seems bleak now. I’m tired of living in fear. It seems like I have my back against the wall and have nowhere to go. Has anyone considered leaving for good? Or know anyone that has left and made a better life for themselves elsewhere? I’ve always wanted to travel the world, then settling somewhere nice and quiet to live out a long and happy life. This doesn’t feel attainable in the US anymore.
