2025.01.21 10:43 _earlylight Spotify not playing podcast episodes when I use uBlockOrigin? Music plays normally though.
It doesn't play the episodes when I click play, it just skips to the next episode which also doesn't play. It then marks the entire episode as watched. Is there a fix for this?

2025.01.21 10:43 Square-Industry5570 DRZ400sm for first bike
Looking for a first bike. Total beginner, I'm 45, 6ft2 90kg and have been reading (too much) about beginner bikes. I want something to learn on, not a sport bike, capable on the freeway, good for commuting, good handling, LAMS approved (Australia) and something thats a bit of fun but not too crazy. I've landed on the drz400sm as it's a dirt bike so If I was to drop it it might go a bit better. But is the 400sm for riding the roads (I've heard it's terrible on freeway) or is it just for young dudes to do tricks and stuff on? I heard the 400e is a better bike but I'm not great mechanically so wasn't keen on converting an e to an sm ... Don't wanna buy new.
From what I've read (this is what I've learned)
Svartpilan sounds twitchy and build quality terrible? KTM 390 the same? CBF500 good but a bit Meh?
Mt07 too crazy and the suspension is terrible?
z 400 too small
Lams SV650 not worth the cash for Lams? Versys LAMS okish?? The list goes on.
Please point me in the right direction - is the drz400sm a good bike for me (not too interested in offroad) or is there something else? Thanks all

Please excuse the cheesey title, but I had to grap your attention. This is a rant more than anything else.
I'm not sure if anyone has observed the same in Egypt these past few years or not, but it has gotten too bad these past 3 years in particular. At least for me. People in Egypt/Masr, outside of fancy upper-class areas have become pretty much zombified. You can see it on their faces, how they interact with others, and how they behave in general. I love to take late evening or early morning walks, and people I encounter on such walks are always grumpy. I don't think I ever saw a face that's not grumpy or depressed, they don't even reply to greetings like "good morning", "good evening", or do it in a half-assed & tired way. People are obviously tired and depressed. More like exhausted, even their faces show it. They don't even bother to give one personal space, often bumping into me with their bodies coz they are too apathetic to move. Completely lost their awareness or care. It's like the idea of unspoken social cues, mutual respect, personal safe, etc has vanished and social apathy has taken place. If one acts decent and civilized, then one is looked down upon, or taken advantage of. The norm & cool thing is to be a rude asshole.
The very basic social fabric has been destroyed imo, you would get exhausted from constantly navigating a society where apathy and transactional behaviors are the norm and this would take a toll on your mental health, even if you're trying to hold onto a sense of decency and civility yourself.
What's worse, you're hassled everywhere you go. Everyone is hustling, everyone is trying to make a quick buck off of you. People stopped seeing the humanity in others and it's just how much can I screw over the person in front of me. This has become a common behavior among people of almost all classes, from blue collar workers, laborers, etc to white-collar fancy office workers. Everyone is expecting something out of you, something extra, a tip, etc, for whatever reason, even if it's their job. Dealing with people has become a chore, you have to constantly avoid them, or be on guard all the time when interacting not to get screwed over. This is exhausting. This shouldn't be the case.
I think the above is the reason why tourists find this country unbearable after a while; it's exhausting living here this way all the time. Unless of course you isolate yourself into a neat bubble of other wealthy folks, you're bound to suffer. You can't even escape this shit coz you gonna face it in government or any other similar situations. I understand the majority of people are suffering and in survival mode, but come on, this is exhausting.
I really need to leave this place for good. Rant is over!

Hey yall, the title pretty much describes the problem, but to get more detailed: my female cat is 8 months old (born on Mother’s Day) and is seemingly starting to display signs of heat (very very chirpy and hardly wants to stay still, licking downstairs more, no presenting or yowling yet, and still has a good appetite) her spay appointment was set up with the vet for February as they said that was best since she took awhile to put on weight, if we can’t move her appointment, what are some recommendations to get her through her heat? How to limit spraying? Any general advice if you’ve got any, thanks!

2025.01.21 10:43 Wide_Register_1389 Fixed-term role and 4 rounds of interviews, one of which - a case study
Hi All,
I'm torn between 2 options and would appreciate your perspecrive.
So I had the first interview, recruiter call, yesterday, for a role that would be fixed to 18 months considering someone started right away. If it takes longer to get the person on board, the contract would be even shorter.
The company actually seems cool & modern, the recruiter was also very pleasant to talk to. It went so well that I got a confirmation during the call I made it to the 2nd round. However, he was open about the contract unlikely converting into a permanent one.
And here is the catch: the 2nd round is a case study. I would need to create a slide deck and, if successful after peer review, present my ideas during the peer interview. The case study is about general questions, so it does not make an impression that they would be trying to get candidates to do free work. If the case study and the peer interview are successful, one would have yet one more interview with some upper management people.
It is not a director or leadership role, but an individual contributor. 4 interview rounds seem way over the top for any role IMO, but for 12+ months contract? I am based in an EU country where fixed-term contracts are rare in general.
I am torn: I've been laid off and unemployed since October, so I am tempted to do it. On the other hand, by doing it, I would be investing tones of my time with no guarantee of anything, and reinforcing the notion that companies can drag candidates around just because the job market now is in a bad state.
I have a couple of other interviews coming up but nothing near closing... However, I am still tempted to reply to that email that I see it as way too excessive for a fixed-term contract.
Any takes on this? Thanks!

I'm torn between these two options and unsure which to choose. My goal is to play up to PS2 games, and while I know neither is perfect, both seem capable based on the videos I've watched.
I have a few areas to compare to try to help me decide:
- Screen: One key difference is the screen ratio and resolution/panel. Initially, I thought I wanted 4:3, but I’m perfectly fine with 16:9 and it will be better for GBA/PSP. The RG556 clearly stands out with its higher resolution and AMOLED display, which is a big draw for me. So a win for 556.
- CPU/GPU: Since the CPU and GPU appear to be the same, it seems the real question is whether the RG556 struggles more with performance due to its higher resolution. Does anyone have insight into how well it handles this vs RG406H? I'm guessing there won't really be any noticeably on systems under PS2?
- Ergonomics: Looking at pictures and videos, it seems the RG556 is going to be the most ergonomic, but saying that, I'm coming from an RG35XX H, which I have no trouble. Either will be a bonus in comfort. Another win for 556, but not a dealbreaker.
- Sticks: This is an easy one to overlook. I much prefer the layout on both of them having the left stick up top, it just comes down to the performance/feel. Does one of these handhelds have better sticks?

I spent hundreds of hours in Skill Legends Royale and Auto Gladiators, (which are very similar to Alpha League for those who don't know), now I discovered Alpha League :-)
My only big concern about playing Alpha League are bots. I'd rather wait several minutes before I'd want to fill up the remaining open spots with AI. A big part of the fun comes from playing against other people, at least for me, and I believe for many others too.
Maybe let the player choose between 2 options (Human Lobby vs Human/AI Lobby).

I’ve (31m) been contemplating whether semaglutide has been the cause of my recent low mood and withdrawal from my personal relationships.
Last year was particularly stressful for my small business, and I began experiencing depressive thoughts. For the first time, I sought therapy because I felt like I had lost myself.
I believe my depression stems from the fact that I can no longer use food as a coping mechanism, as I have in the past. Instead, I was relying on weed, but I’ve realized that it only worsened my mood and left me feeling perpetually tired.
Additionally, I’ve been feeling withdrawn when I spend time with friends and family. I struggle to maintain conversations and find it difficult to commit to long TV shows, as if I lack motivation.
Recently, I’ve been reflecting on my feelings and believe the best way to describe them is that I felt like a zombie.
I’ve recently reduced my semaglutide dosage from 0.75ml to 0.5ml, and I’ve noticed a significant improvement in my mood. However, I’m not certain if it’s solely due to my increased focus on getting better sleep, adopting healthier eating habits, and forming positive habits.
