Anon here, for somewhat obvious reasons. I’ve got a challenging situation related to a small charity I’m a trustee of and would really appreciate some advice.
In brief, we had a new Executive Director join about two years ago. She hasn’t been incredible but she has mostly been able to do the job, with some help from myself. Just under a year in, she went on maternity leave. To cover her throughout this year, we’ve hired a new interim Executive Director. This person, a man (to make things complicated), has been excellent. He has been much better at managing the team, delivering work on time, fundraising, speaking to media and basically most functions of the job.
Seeing him in this role makes me realise that actually, the original Executive Director wasn’t particularly good. Whilst no performance plans were ever instigated with her before she went on maternity, seeing this difference in comparison makes it very clear to me that he is a better fit to run the organisation. It also makes me suspect she wasn’t working the hours agreed as her output was far lower than his.
However, I’m not sure how to approach this issue. As a trustee, I feel duty-bound to ensure we have the best person to run the charity. In my view, that means replacing our Executive Director with our interim. However, of course, I don’t want to infringe on any employment law or discriminate based on gendematernity. We also don’t have enough funds to pay both of these people at full-time salaries. What avenues, if any, do I have to make this happen? At what should I be doing / thinking over the next few months?
Some options I’ve considered:
- Ask her, in a non-encouraging way, what her plans are as it’s possible she won’t want to return
- Ask her if she would like to go down to 1-2 days per week and retain her in a senior role, and our interim Executive Director, with him getting a promotion to lead the organisation(or something similar)
- Put her on a performance review plan very soon after she starts, referencing some performance issues from before her maternity leave and also tracking new things
- (I think this won’t work) Tell her we are making her role redundant and replace it with another one e.g. Managing Director or CEO.
- The Executive Director will be under two years of working when she returns from maternity leave. With our notice period, I would need to lay her off within two weeks of her getting back to stay under this two year window.
- I worry that if we don’t let the interim Executive Director have some idea of this situation, or act quickly, he may find other employment. Hence I would not ideally wait for a few months before letting her go.
- Based in England
- She is not due to come back for at least 3 months.

Has the preferred method for bike theft seems to be these cordless angle grinders that use the cutting wheels to cut through the locks the best deterrent would be coding the lock with some sort of rubber or plastic coating possibly single butyl styrene that admits an incredible amount of noxious smoke when an attempt is made to cut through it irritating the eyes and nasal passages of the would-be thief and also obscuring his vision and being a visual indication for others that a crime is being committed. Galvanizing this surface to some extent would achieve this also rubber or polyvinyl that would also diminish the effectiveness of the cutting wheel

Morning y'all. I'm a very amateur guitarist who just inherited a Roland Jazz Chorus 77. I was hoping I could plug headphones into it so I could play without disturbing my gf. There's a pair of lineout ports on the back, one (stereo) so I assume the other is mono, but when I plug into either of them, the sound still comes out of the amp and nothing from the headphones. Am I misunderstanding what lineout means? The only other amp I've used was a cheap fender that came from a Fender starter kit from Costco 20 years ago, that just had an obvious headphone port on the front. Are headphones not an option with this amp?

2006 Toyota Corolla The heater blows out cold air while the engine temperature gauge shows that it's heated up. I get a some warm air for a couple of minutes (after driving 30+ mins) and then goes back to cold. I went to a mechanic last night who told me the radiator was leaking and replaced it but this morning the issue was still there. (The heater was running fine at the mechanics after replacing the radiator but it was indoors and in a heated environment) I live in Toronto and it's been about -15°C (5°F) this week. Any ideas what the issue could be? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I live in Turkey wich is a Muslim populated country. When I grew up religion was just a matter of fear for me. You shouldn't do that or god will punish you etc. I never felt a relief of it untill now. The life of Jesus and his crucifixion for humanitys sins really got me interested. So having anybody as a Chirstian to talk to would be really nice for learning more about it.

I have a written agreement between me and a business that I would get a 2 year contract from them on January 1st. The business wanted me to sign a contract in August but due to come legal complications I wasn’t able to.
So to ensure the business got me in January ( as they were extremely keen to make sure they got me). They came up with a written agreement. Stating that the Business would contractually sign me on January 1st. -this was to ensure they got me on January 1st - to make sure I didn’t join another company/business and leave the deal. - they even sent money to my bank account to partially pay some of my rent as I had to relocate to them.
However they have now decided 2weeks before the official signing date that they do not need to honour the written agreement and are indicating it was only an ‘ intention to sign me’ which isn’t legally enforceable. Is this true?
It’s a written document stating that they will contractually sign me on January 1st. I don’t get how it’s unenforceable? I have turned down other job opportunities as I was meant to be joining them for the next two years.

Hello all,
So, I'm a normal guy, with about dozens of replays of skyrim and, not knowing how I got here, with multiple copies bought over the years. But I never played it in a pc tower (only on consoles across the board, and laptops). I finally have a pc tower, after years on years of wanting one and, of course, the game I want to play is same old trusty Skyrim. But I wanted to try it out with mods (reason of the post, sorry for lolly gagging around). Also, of course I bought the special edition on steam sale, even tho I already had the legendary one and the first one (i think).
For a few days I've been knees deep on posts and videos to make a list of mods to install. Even so, I don't know if it's due to putting some heaving expectations, my own stupidity or simply feeling overwhelming by the extent of options, I have yet to install a single mod. I wanted to ask you guys if there are any suggestions of must try mods. I certainly will have a easier time at the second modded playthrough, but I'm kinda struggling right now. Other reservation I have is my setup specs, I think its fairly good, but certainly it won't bear 3k+ mods (I have a I5 12400, 2060, 16GB DDR4 and a 500gb ssd).
I'm really sorry for posting such a blend post and hope it doesn't conflict with any community guideline. Thank you in advance, for the attention.
