2025.01.22 01:02 CloudsTasteGeometric Sports Car for a very tall driver - $40K(ish) budget?
I've been looking to upgrade my car since I landed a new job with a serious pay raise. I'm earning $110,000 (gross) per year, own a home in a LCOL city, and am child free. Here are my thoughts on what I'm looking for:
- Ideally a 2 Door Coupe but I'd potentially be open to a sedan or hatchback, RWD or AWD (pretty sure I'm mostly limited to RWD in a coupe.)
- Low to the ground! I want to feel connected the road.
- Needs to be quick, but doesn't necessarily have to be fast. (a 5 second 0-60 is plenty fast enough for me, not that I'd be upset if I had something faster.)
- Needs to handle, but doesn't need to be the ultimate canyon carver. I'm looking for engaging driving but I'm not going to track it or anything.
- Reliability should be decent (doesn't need to be an immortal Camry but something more durable than a Jaguar held together by duct tape and hope is necessary.)
- An engaging DCT/Shiftable automatic with paddle shifters (I know manuals are better, and I know how to drive stick, but my partner needs to be able to drive this, too.)
- Needs to accommodate a 6'7" driver. Granted I'm mostly torso, so legroom would be less if an issue for me. It does not need to carry more than 2 people and the occasional load of groceries or airport carry on bags.
Everyone says the 86/BRZ is the "tall man's Miata," but what's the play if the 86/BRZ is still too small? Even if it's just barely too small? (I probably could've made it work long term if I put in recaros.)
I was thinking of maybe a gently used base model mk5 Supra? Or Nissan Z? Open to suggestions.

2025.01.22 01:02 Secret-Temperature71 A Hopefull Story
I had a "Widow Maker" Dec. 3, 2025. 74yo (m) in otherwise good health, I had some odd burning in my chest. Told my Son to drive me to ER, got there and quickly had an EKG. They rolled me into a treatment room and where working on me when my BP and pulse dropped. They hit me with some external stimulation, not a crash cart, no paddles. I got a Stent that night and a 3nd a few days later. I came out of hospital with a Ejection Fraction of 36-40%.
Now, Jan 21, I had a second echocardiogram. My reported EF is now 50-60%. NORMAL.

My girlfriend works at a courthouse, and weapons aren’t allowed in. (Even a fork gets questioned sometimes.)
What can I buy her that could protect her without it appearing dangerous to the security guards?
When I can’t drive her, she commutes through public transit and walking. I wish she could carry the typical tasepepper spray—so I was hoping this sub may have some tips.
