As I said in the title, I’m going to be buying a gaming laptop in the next couple months. I have a 1500-2000 budget, I’m really wanting the Lenovo Legion Pro 7i I have already made my mind up on that. I was looking for advice on if I should wait for the 2025 models to come out, will the previous 2024 models drop in price due to a new line being released? If so I’ll just wait until the new laptops drop to save money on my current choice, just hoping somebody who has seen the trends might be able to help! (I’m very new to the gaming laptop space)

2025.01.22 04:55 Acceptable_Honey7218 New IT Ops manager - what next?
I have just recently been promoted into an IT Help Desk / Service Desk manager role. We are somewhat of a small team internally while also using an MSP for our L1 support. L1 management also falls under my supervision as well. Our internal guys - whom I’d consider L2 typically work on escalations and team project work. I’ve 4 internal direct reports and then management of the MSP T1 team.
I’m coming up on my 9th year in IT with vary roles but most if it spent in IT Support/Help Desk/Service Desk. I’m constantly plagued by the idea of AI replacing my job as well as the jobs of the people I manage. Continuing to learn new skills is something I do regularly; trying to stay a head of the curve. But in management now, what is the evolution of a role like this over the next 5-10 years? How can I continue to stay ahead of the curve? For other Help Desk managers, what’s the next progression in the career path?
Also - about how long should a new manager like me stay in this position before looking for a new company to work for? 6 months, a year, 3 years? Most current job applications I’ve looked at want at least 3 years but I’ve been applying and hearing back - albeit sporadically. There’s a lot going on in my current company - leadership changes, a lot of “do these decision makers know what they’re doing?” vibes. It didn’t always use to be this way and has gotten bad over the last year. Most of the company is in fear of losing their job as we’ve had layoffs somewhat regularly the last 3 years. Our IT leadership continues to drive the offshore model for support. Does the pendulum swing back to full internal IT Support employees? I guess it’s hard to say. I’m seriously considering jumping ship for more stability - and a salary increase that my current company will come no where close to matching
Apologies for rambling. It’s tough to voice general job and company outlook concerns to my manager for obvious reasons. Have lurked here on this sub for a little bit now. Any and all advice is appreciated.

Ive been online dating for about 4 years. EVERYONE is so flakey (we all know this) I too have noticed myself no longer putting in the effort I used to and when someone gets close I have a mini freakout because i worry im locking out the chance to meet someone even BETTER for me. I never used to be like this.
TLDR: Do you think If you are on the apps long enough you go through so much disappointment that eventually we all become avoidantly attached? OLD is ruining society.

how come some cars reach max torque at for example 2000rpms whereas some are at 5,000rpms?
i asked because test drove a 2016 x6 xdrive and the torque is 480 at 2000rpms
and my s550 2017 mustang is 400 at 4250rpms
on paper their 0-60 is the same but the x6 feels significantly more powerful and pulls me back on my seat 😂🤦🏼♀️
Is it because of the twin turbo? or the awd or just different engine designs (i.e., no one size fit all answer)

Hi - I'm using https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Fcitx to type Chinese using Pinyin input (using fcitx-googlepinyin). It works fine, with two small problems:
1) The panel where I choose the character is tiny, making it very hard for me to read. I cannot for the life of me figure out how to increase the size.
2) The input does not work inside Lutris - for example, typing in WoW's chat. The Pinyin selector pops up, but nothing selected makes it into the game.
Any suggestions for what to check out? I've combed Google and come up empty :(

At 1:08 she said 我们有会员 but even after repeating it dozens of times I still only hear 我没有会员.
I ran into this particular problem before where I was not sure if there was a negation 我没有 or not 我们有.
Can you follow this or do you actually hear 我们有会员?
