Iām 19 and Iāve never learned how to swim. I donāt think I ever will. Sometimes I want to go on cruises, go to water parks, visit beaches, or hang out at the pool. Iāve always been scared of water for many reasons, mostly because I canāt swim, but itās also because of what my family did to me as a kid.
As a kid on summer break, my family would set up those large inflatable pools in the backyard, the ones that were so cheap theyād have to be re-inflated in an hour, and weād put the pool noodles and floaties in there. Weād climb the ladder, test the water temp with our toes. It was fun. My brother and I would play pool games like Marco Polo. We also played this game we called āwhirlpoolāwhere weād run around the pool as fast as we could in a circle and try to make a whirlpool. Until one day, all the water exploded out of the pool. I fell over on the edge and inhaled so much water. After that, I was scared of playing the whirlpool game.
But what was really scary was Marco Polo. I hated that game so much. I havenāt played it in so long that I donāt even remember the rules, but all I remember is having to keep my eyes closed. I didnāt like it because I was scared Iād trip and couldnāt see where I was going. I was also scared of when it was my brotherās turn to close his eyes. Heād call out and Iād respond and heād chase me. And when he fought me, heād try to drown me. I donāt think thatās how the game was supposed to be played.
That game wasnāt the first time I was drowned. My dad would try to drown me too. He thought it was funny for some reason. Heād try to drown me at the beach and in the pool, and I donāt get it. I donāt get why Iāve been drowned a lot as a kid, I donāt get why it was so funny. He would tell me it was so I could learn to swim and breathe underwater, but the whole time he was laughing. Heād laugh when I cried and heād laugh when I was angry with him and ignored him.
Because of how he acted, my brother and my cousins would do it too, because it was funny somehow. I donāt hold any grudges against my cousins or my siblingāhonestly, they were kids following what the adult did, and theyāve all apologized to me for what they did. My dad has never bothered to apologize, and he probably doesnāt even remember.
And now, because of him, I donāt trust anyone in the pool. I always hold onto the edge and stay in the shallow end. When I was younger all the kids would call me a loser and a coward, but honestly, Iād rather be a loser and a coward than be drowned again. Now, as an adult, I can know someone all my life and trust them fully, but once we enter a pool, they become the least trustworthy person in that moment. I wonāt let anyone touch me, and if you come near me, Iāll freak out so much I might end up tripping and accidentally drowning myself, honestly, because Iām that clumsy.
I also canāt dunk my head underwater, and sometimes itās hard to even wet my face in the goddamn sink. Iāve tried to get over this fear so many times, and itās really hard because every time I try, someone makes it worseāeither by splashing water in my face, like so much water that I canāt gasp for breath, or by holding me underwater while Iām trying to get over my fear. I donāt understand whatās wrong with these people??? Itās baffling.
Anyways, I donāt know why I made this post, I just needed to get this out somewhere.

2025.01.22 07:53 Saikousoku2 Sierra Madre Cards
I picked up ten of the Sierra Madre cards in Dead Money, but not only are they not adding to my Caravan deck, I can't do anything else with them. I found a bunch of posts in various places saying you could fix this by putting them in a companion inventory or selling them to Cliff Briscoe and buying them back, but no. I tried that, and I don't have the option to move them into any container or inventory. It's as if they're quest items, which they aren't since I can drop them just fine. I even tried setting them as quest objects with the command console and then unsetting them and it didn't change anything. I don't care whether they go into my deck or into a cabinet never to be seen again, I just want them stored safely and not clogging my inventory. Does anyone have any idea how to fix this?
