I watched Whiplash for the first time a few days ago, and holy shit - it's a masterpiece. As someone who's meh on La La Land and didn't think it deserved all the hype, this is a Chazelle film that deserved more hype imo. Masterful performances all round including a total acting masterclass from Simmons, very solid screenplay and direction and some of the best editing I've seen in recent times to name a few things that stood out.
I do know this was an indie project on a budget of only 3mil, but did very well at the box office with 50mil. Also Chazelle's first outing as a film director so he wasn't that well known.
Whiplash came out 10 years ago (2015 Oscar season), so I'm curious - if this film came out this season with Chazelle an Oscar-winner, Simmons a previous nominee, Teller with Top Gun clout, etc - how would it have done nominations wise with this year's field? Also despite Chazelle's standing in the industry, he would be coming off Babylon which flopped, so what effect would that have if any? (assume it's still made on a modest budget and did decent box office wise)
It did originally get in for BP but I don't think it was ever considered win-competitive, and a very well-deserved sweep for Simmons. Would he still have swept? Would it have gotten in for Director or Lead Actor?
Just my 4am thoughts while I ponder on this year's predictions 😂

Hello everyone,
I'm relatively new to biking and trying to dial my new bike in. I've tried fitting it to myself through online guides etc. and contemplating the result. Bike is size 60 and I'm 194cm.
Generally, the fit feels good. I am however wondering if I should try to raise the handlebars a bit - what are your thoughts on this?
Stem is 130mm and I've borrowing a 100mm from a friend in a few days to try it out. Any feedback on reach aswell?

I don't like my physiotherapist. I've never been very sporty and it's like being in PE lessons in school. She makes me dribble footballs (I have never been able to do this pre-MS) and the sessions last an hour which is longer than I can do without messing myself up for the rest of the week. I think because I can walk, she thinks I'm not that bad, but I have big problems with balance and stamina.
The sessions also aren't helping, like at all. If anything my legs have gotten worse. I've explained this to her to see if there are different exercises we could try but she doesn't seem to understand.
I feel quite lost and dissapointed with it tbh.

2025.01.22 09:05 TheNewGen138 Advice needed for L2 Prep :-)
I passed L1 in Nov, and I am planning to move on with L2 for the Aug exam.
For L1, I used CFAI premium package (all the questions + additional mocks) and also the Schweser Books and Qbank.
However, for L2 I am planning to go again with the CFAI premium package but instead of Schweser, I'd like to go with MM. I've heard and read many things about the new MM, so my question:
- is it worth to go with MM? Is the option 'applied level' necessary? - how would you start? First check all MM videos, and then read the CFAI?
I appreciate any tips & tricks from you guys :-)

Hi guys,
I’m creating a model driven app at work to track different lengths of water mains laid. I’ve created the app with a singular entry of total mains laid per site with a calendar to show the date updated so I can check back to work records. I’ve been asked if the app could instead be set up to show each different length of mains laid per job on each site with a total laid sum as well. So essentially the individual would go into the record and create a new entry of a length of mains laid and date with multiple of these entries per record. I’m not keen on this approach but I’ve been asked if it’s possible and I can’t think of an easy solution so any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Hi guys, I would just like to ask whether you have encountered this issue with your ebikes. My ebike suddenly stopped working. I though that i must have placed it in parked mode, after placing it drive mode I found out that everything is not working. Headlights, signal lights, horns, tail light, brake lights, brake sensor, and even the sidestand kill switch is NOT WORKING.
The only thing thats working is the motor hub. I really dont know what happened. I tried unplugging and plugging back everything and nothing seems to work.
Is the converter or controller dead?

Hey guys, so I'm diagnosed Bipolar 2/NOS not sure which one plus I'm suffering from PTSD.
I'm not so sure what to do with what I'm dealing with, I ran in to a person that caused the start of my PTSD and ever since then I haven't been sleeping well, I've been hyper vigilant, nightmares, increase anxiety and a touch of paranoia. All these symptoms are clearly PTSD symptoms and not bipolar ones.
I don't know how to approach this, I've been very stable for the last 5 years and I've been glad about that. but this has been on going for the last 2 weeks and its really effecting my work/life. I'm fortunate to have a work place that is a bit relaxed so I'm able to go home early and kinda deal with my shit. but this is not sustainable and I know that. I know it will take me sometime to settle down and calm down but it will take time. Now I need something to help me sleep but I know that they won't issue me anything to help me with my anxiety or anything of that sort because in this country they just don't hand over any type of medication that is sedating (it sucks I know).
So what am I looking for here, well I'm looking for advice for how to approach this right now. I'm really lost on what to do, I can book a trip and go see a doctor in a different country to get some pills to calm me down I'm not sure if that is a wise thing to do though.
I have a doctors appointment next week and I'm hopeful they would do something, I'm really struggling I don't show it and I try my best to keep it together but I know soon enough if I don't address it I'm going to crack.
Any advice?
