Hello! I've been closeted for awhile as a trans woman and have always faced a lot of anxiety with coming out. One thing ive had a lot of trouble with is buying makeup/gender affirming clothing as I'm just so embarrassed. Anytime I've tried getting makeup, I get the wrong shade for my skin and get frustrated about the whole thing. I just was wondering if anyone knows what I can do to either have someone there helping me judgement-free or if there is a business that specializes in these things locally.

2025.01.22 13:43 Logical_Ad5375 Dog wont come near my bed anymore
If I knew why, I think it’d definitely make me feel a lot better, but the last two days randomly my dog will not come near my bed. He’s a 4 year old Great Dane and he’s slept in my bed with me every night since he was a puppy. He always loved my bed, and even slept in it while I was at work or in the shower. Now for some reason he will not come NEAR my bed. 2 nights ago I called him up, and he seemed like he wanted to but couldn’t jump, so I went to help him and he cried out and backed into the corner. This has never happened before. I suspected maybe he had some sort of injury which was causing him pain, but he jumps up on the couch and my sisters bed fine. I’ve tried getting him to come up with treats and his favorite bone, but now he’s so scared of my bed that when he’s in my room he lays down in the corner on the floor(which I don’t want him to lay on hard wood so I grab his dog bed.) could anyone know why this is? I really miss cuddling with him in my bed and it’s making me really sad. He’s my emotional support dog and I’m a pretty lonely person… he’s really all I have in terms of physical connection. He’s a somewhat anxious dog, since I got him during Covid lockdown, but he’s gotten a lot better since then. Please help :( I can’t think of anything that happened with my bed that could be triggering him this badly.

Hello! I'm a bit new to the world of sound equipment outside of headsets and guitar amps. I installed a projector against a wall and a ceiling, right above the couch of my gaming room, and I LOVE it. However, the sound is quite poor, and I'm looking for solutions to improve that. I'm trying to stay away from anything that's to be installed on the floor, I have a cat that *loves* to chew at wire, so keeping them out of his reach is ideal. My original thoughts were to install two speakers, one on each side of the projector, but I'm wondering two things.
- Where should I start looking? What sort of speakers would be best for that kind of setup? Ideally, I'm looking for something light and not too big, as I want to keep some room to maneuver around the projector when needed. I'm not looking for mindblowing audio quality, as it's going to mostly be used to watch anime, memes, average youtube content and play games, but it'd be nice if it delivered good sound for background music and karaoke.
- How much better would the sound be if I installed the speakers on the wall opposite to the projector? I'd like to avoid having to run wire on the ceiling for aesthetic reasons, but if the payoff is good, I'm willing to reconsider.

Hi. I'm 50 and started playing mandolin at 48. The entire venture has been an experiment in learning complex tasks at Middle age. I have been paying very close attention to the changes that are happening in my mind and body as I learn music. I have been watching as my sensory awareness expands.
It seems as though I am growing nerves where I did not have them before. When I started, I could not play without dropping the pick. I absolutely couldn't hold it tightly and loosely at the same time. I couldn't feel the strings at all. I could barely sense the pick touching the strings until it became stuck in them. This is amazing. Does anyone know specifically what is happening in the brain that causes this?
I'm wondering if anyone would like to talk about this. Clearly everyone experiences this as they develop mastery. Can you talk about how it all went down? Have you noticed any other changes since you started learning?
In closing I will tell you one really weird thing I am noticing. Before I started playing music, when I looked at a spinning object such as a ceiling fan or the wheel of a vehicle moving at a modest speed, I would see a blur. Now when I look at such things... They stop. Rather, my mind produces automatic freeze frame snaps of the motion. So instead of the blur I see snap, blur, snap, blur, snap, etc. Weird.
Let's discuss. Especially interested in hearing from middle aged learners but all are welcome to comment.
