Mom - NC Her assets (checking account only) are $1613.78 above the $2k. Medicaid application pending and am told I need to spend down and show proof by 1/29.
Looking at paying cremation per her wishes. Was wanting to put a big chunk of money down now and make payments for the rest. Of course I don't want to deplete all of our money cause that's foolish but what if I paid enough that her she had $1500 in assets? Does Medicaid care or is it best to keep closer to the $2k range?

The USPTO has always been an outstanding work place. In about 2006 we were on the frontier of telework as the first agency to implement telework and we’ve been a shining light for the US Govt throughout the decades.
Continue to have your own light as others are trying to dim that light. You know, and we all know, that we all provide a ton of value to our shareholders. Not only that, but we do it while bringing in money to pay all of our employees and expenses. We also have an extra fund that gets used as needed, or goes back into the general gov’t fund.
The morale is incredibly low between us. Hold your head high and rise above this. At some point this will be known by those in charge and confidence will be restored. Right now just know that we are all in this together. We are a big group. I think it would be beneficial to put a smile on your face and act as if nothing has happened, as nothing has in fact happened to any of us at the agency.

More of a rhetorical question but I still find it asinine that ME/CFS, dysautonomia, and other post-viral illnesses have been around forever but we still don’t understand what the root cause is. COVID is a novel virus, but most of these illnesses are not new at all and if they were studied earlier then we’d have answers by now. I know my cells aren’t producing ATP but WHY? Is it that complicated? How could an illness be so complicated? POTS seems even more straightforward to me…the ANS is fucked up but WHY?!? How do we still not know if it’s autoimmunity or viral persistence or something else?
