First off, I don’t judge and I’m not interested in policing language. But I’m also thinking of how great it is to have a common language. (The podcast Decision Space does an awesome job helping make distinctions between and language for concepts that are often conflated in board gaming. That’s something I find helpful, personally.)
Now, I’ve noticed that ‘accessibility’ is often used to describe three separate ideas: how hard it is to understand or like a game, how hard it is to find opportunities to play a game, and usability of a game for people with different abilities.
I personally try to only use the word ‘accessible’ when discussing color blindness, text size, component size, etc. Anything that could fall under the ADA umbrella, making things accessible to all.
It makes perfect sense to use ‘accessibility’ for ‘access to a copy of the game’. But I like to use the term ‘availability’ to make the distinction.
It’s seems hip to use the term ‘accessible’ to mean ‘enjoyable by all’, or quickly understood, maybe easy to have fun with. (I first heard it used this way to describe music. Some artists have easy-to-listen-to, accessible bops, whereas others have unique, developed styles that you have to acquire a taste for.) Anyway, I’ve learned to use the word ‘approachable’ for this meaning.
TL;DR - I personally find it useful to say accessible, approachable, or available where many people just use accessible. Curious if others find that helpful as well, or if I just come off as pretentious or something haha crew

I work on a very tight team of three women and we have a male supervisor. I will be taking maternity leave April through June and, during this time, requests that my team members have put in for PTO have been denied due to "one team member being on maternity leave ". Luckily I am close with my coworkers and they don't hold this against me, but I feel like it is very inappropriate for my boss to be using me as an excuse in this way. Is this legal?? What would be a professional way to address it?

I M(25) and my wife F(20) have been together for a year. I live about 2000 miles away from my family but live near her family. For the holidays we agreed with inviting both my mom and dad for the holidays so both our families could spend get to know each other more. Well on the second day of my parents being there she went through my phone and found messages of a girl that I talked too from 2022 on WhatsApp which I didn’t know where there. She confronted me and I told her “hey I’m sorry, I should’ve known they were there. Delete and block her”. I genuinely had no idea I had those messages. Well she still wanted to talk about it so we went to the room in the apartments and then she started to whisper scream pretty loudly calling me the “the shits of all shits and a piece of shit and how could I treat her like this”. My mom doesn’t talk English but knows cuss words. The was slightly open and she peaks her head in and says “the door is slightly open” and my wife panics feeling cornered but after I get my mom to leave the room she then grabs her keys and storms out. I chase her after putting on my sandals and she almost runs me over backing up with her car and then I get in the way while she starts to go forward trying to tell her to talk but she just honks at me so I let her speed away. She went to her parents house and stayed the night. She didn’t come back after 6 days. This isn’t the first time she walks out but it is the first time she doesn’t come back and does it in front of people. I feel disrespected, abandoned and like she doesn’t care about my feelings. I need advice on how to feel about this because I am confused. I would greatly appreciate the help. Thank you for taking the time to read this post.

 | I just got a nice deal on a TCL 34R83Q, I got it for 400 euros on a sale. I have a miniled TCL TV and I am very pleased with it. I was expecting a lot from 1150 dimming zones on a 34 inch screen. However, I am not pleased at all with the blooming. It's unbearable to me. I set both monitors on full brightness and mirrored them. Local dimming on standard takes away the black tones, bringing the monitor closer to the LG. Setting local dimming to high gives very high blooming effect, and it is unpleasant. I tried a local dimming test and the white dots really bloom badly, I can see the zones lighting up around the moving dots. This effect doesn't happen on my TV, it's almost imperceptible. Any advice on settings? I have 30 days to return the monitor and get my money back. What would you do in this case? Keep the old monitor and look for OLED deals?
