Jag är från Skåne och idag pratade jag med en kvinna från Stockholm. När jag prata med någon som kommer från en annan del av landet så väljer jag bort lokala ord och uttal så att de ska förstå bättre.
Hon använde ordet "eta" och när jag förklarade att jag inte visste vad det var så skedde 5-6 repeterande av ordet utan något som helst försök att tydliggöra och därefter gav hon upp. I efterhand förstod jag att hon försökte säga "äta". Jag hade aldrig t.ex. sagt "äda" om jag pratade med någon från Stockholm då jag vet att det är bara i Skåne man ibland säger så.
Stockholmska kan vara en väldigt extrem dialekt i vissa fall, speciellt bland äldre infödda Stockholmare. Det är långt ifrån rikssvenska, och kan ibland vara svårt att förstå för övriga svenskar.

2025.01.22 20:08 Majestic_Bug1189 Fleas. Going crazy.
Hi! I rescued a dog 5 days ago and as soon as we got him home we noticed him itching and biting his skin a lot. We checked him for fleas, separating his fur and didn’t find anything. The next morning, I noticed a single flea where he was chewing himself. I immediately bathed him with dawn dish soap and got 2 fleas off of him. I then gave him a bath with flea shampoo, let the shampoo sit for 10 minutes, and only got 2 more. I’ve been obsessively checking him and combing him with the flea comb and haven’t gotten a single flea, egg or piece of flea dirt off of him. He’s short haired, so I am able to get down to the skin when combing him. I am a hypochondriac and have major anxiety to begin with so this is taking a major toll on me mentally as I know how quickly fleas can infest and how bad it can get. I can’t stay off the internet and all I’m reading are horror stories about how bad this can be. The people we got him from claim he was on a monthly flea preventative but not sure if I believe that.
He was in my bedroom and my daughter’s bedroom briefly and I’ve already washed our bedding in hot water and dried on the highest setting. Along with vacuuming every day and washing any clothing that was in there at the time. I’ve kept him in our living room/kitchen since finding the fleas and haven’t let him in any other rooms. I’ve been vacuuming the living room and kitchen (couch, pillows, baseboards, EVERYTHING) constantly, sometimes 3 times a day. I’ve also put down diatomaceous earth under my couch cushions and on the carpet and have been spraying the couch and carpet with flea spray.
My boyfriend thinks I’m crazy and everything I’m doing is overkill, but the thought of living in a house with fleas (especially with young kids) is driving me insane. It’s to the point where I don’t want my kids sitting on the couch and then going into their bedrooms because I’m so afraid they’ll bring a flea or egg into their room. I guess I’m just hoping someone can tell me that it’s going to be okay and maybe there’s a small chance that I handled the problem before it got out of control? I know I’m probably over reacting and things could be worse but I’ve never dealt with this before and I’m losing it, clearly 😅
Also got him a dose of nexgard as soon as the vet opened on Monday. He’s still itching and biting himself but I’m not seeing anything and wondering if maybe the bites could be bothering him, rather than actual fleas? Thanks!

 | Does anyone know where I can find a normal case? I’m looking for something that isn’t a folio, doesn’t have a big pen holder( I don’t own the pen lol), and isn’t 2 inches thick? I’m not really doing anything too crazy with it other than media consumption around the house and I don’t really travel at the point where I’m not driving. I don’t like the super thick rugged case because it looks like a kids iPad and I’m not too much of a fan of the folio cases. Any decent and nice cases I’ve found are for the other models but I have a mini a17. I like slim shell like cases that have some decent protection. If anyone can help it would be appreciated! TIA. 2025.01.22 20:08 Spirited_Check9863 Outcomes of Class B Misdemeanor Speeding Ticket in IL?
Hey all,
Recently I was pulled over going 73 in a 45 on LaGrange getting off I-55 and was given a citation for 26-34 MPH over. It was reckless of me and should've really watched what I was doing before I decided to drive that fast, no excuses. I had a speeding ticket back in 2019 for 10 over on the way to college but that was settled with a fine but other than that a relatively clean record. For this recent one, since its a higher severity of crime it comes with a court date and its 2 weeks out over in Bridgeview. I've done research and have already hired a lawyer who is experienced in criminal defense and is familiar with the courthouse (office is 3-5 mins from the courthouse). I don't expect that it'll get dismissed as I have no reason to refute the evidence but wanted to see if there is a likelihood of it getting reduced to at least remove the misdemeanor off the record. I currently hold a career in aviation and instruct at a flight school and in no means am I trying to defend myself but it would really impact my hiring chances at the airlines (I know, should've really thought about that before driving at that speed). I'm also aware of the punishments that are associated with the misdemeanor.
After a 2 minute phone call with the lawyer, he asked me what the charge was for and when it was and told me that he will be there during the date of the pretrial (if that is what it is) and he will talk to the prosecutor to get court supervision and an online 4 hour driving program. Even though that's what he told me, I have mixed answers from people who have dealt with this certain situation. I understand that its typically a case by case situation but what could I potentially expect? I also do plan to wear a suit even though surprisingly people don't respect courthouses enough to at least look formal. (Surprised me when I heard about this)
(I've posted this on another sub-reddit only to be scrutinized heavily, I understand what I did and I'm only looking for advice and experiences. I'm not a habitual speeder by any means.)

So…. Blister boards seem to be extremely expensive on the secondary market. I work a lot with vacuum forming and will be working on making a bunch of these. Once I figure them out I will probably reduce the size so they are easier to ship. Another option would be to incorporate a “hinge” so the board can be folded in half for shipping. What are your thoughts? Would a smaller board that held 20 bricks be nice??

I 28F recently matched with my biological father on AncestryDNA. I have known since I was younger that it was not 100% certain who my biological father was (there were two possibilities). My mother and he were very young at the time (19-20yrs) and they had a brief few weeks of casually hooking up. She found out she was pregnant and ultimately came to him and told him it was possible he was the father. She gave him the option to be involved or not to be. They had no further contact from there. She did and does not know anything about him aside from his name and being in the military
Me now 28 years old, I was curious and filled out a DNA sample. I really didn't think anything would come of it, especially not that result. Doing even more research, I believe I have found his mother and wife on Facebook. I sent him a direct message on Ancestry but he has not been active on the site in over 6 years. I doubt he will find my message. I would prefer to contact him directly but I cant find any social media or information on him specifically. I do not like the idea of having to message his mother or wife but I am not sure that there is any other options. All of the other mutual matches on Ancestry haven't been active in over a year. I did message one person and they read it and did not reply.
I am almost certain that this was NOT an affair nor was there any cheating involved. I was simply an accident.
If I found the right person, he is married and has another child (teenager I believe). I understand he made a choice 28 years ago to walk away BUT people change and grow. I just want to do the right thing and I am conflicted. Even if you had no intentions of meeting or necessarily building a relationship, should I reach out? I wonder if he joined Ancestry all those years ago possibly looking for me or maybe it's just a coincidence and he hasn't even given it a second thought.
I have a wonderful family and dad (step but I don't like to refer to him as such) who has been around since I was young enough to remember. I consider him my Dad. I am not looking for anything from this guy and I do not necessarily want a relationship but I open to contacting eacother and mostly am just curious of his physical traits, any health conditions, etc.
If I do reach out, I am prepared for any type of response whether good or bad. I am the type of person that not saying something will eat at me, however, I want to do what's right.
Any insight from the male/father perspective OR someone with a similar situation would be greatly appreciated. Please be kind
