Hey folks!
Like a truely stereotypical software developer I am a night owl! - Not to hit the clubs (I'm a nerd after all), but for deeply focused coding sessions.
I tend to be most productive and focused between 9pm and 1am. In and of itself that isn't rally a surprise. For one, there are significantly fewer distractions. - No messages, no meetings, no interruptions. - Plus, since I am a pretty strong procrastinator, the evening is typically the last chance to get something done today, which creates the pressure necessary for my brain to finally get motivated to stay focused on something.
I do enjoy this focus time a lot! Flow state can be extremely satisfying. But I hate the effect it has on my sleep schedule and my rhythm in general. On top of the fact that my partner isn't the greatest fan of it either, when we could enjoy some time together instead. (something that I agree with as well... This is not an avoidance strategy, I promise 😉 )
What I'm looking for are tips and tricks that could help me limit the amount or extent of my nightly work sessions. Ideally I would love to fall into that same flow state during sane working hours.

Hi there!
I am going to solo travel to japan for the first time! Very excited. I am doubting a lot about where to stay. I searched everything and the cheapest normal hotel option would bring me around 400 euro more than staying at the 9h capsule hotel. I was looking at Ningyocho or woman kanda one! (Bc of the bigger size lockers they have)
I have stayed at hostels before and didn't mind it. But I dont know if a capsule hotel is doable to stay for 7 nights.
Questions for the people who stayed at 9h: - Is it correct that you have to leave each morning before 10 am? -did you feel safe?

This is probably a silly question, but I have lately wondered why, given the current interest rate environment, people choose to buy bond funds instead of individual bonds.
I understand about safety in diversity, but if I were to purchase 10-12 high-grade municipal bonds (for example), with the expectation that could keep them all to maturity, would that give me enough diversity?
The overall performance of bond funds never seems as attractive.
Am I missing something obvious?

I noticed some weird brown spots on the roots of my orchid I've been seeing some webbing on my orchids and used some anti bug spray, it's mostly gone by now and hasn't spread further. my other plants have also recently had issues with spidermites and I'm kinda scared that they're gonna spread further
The first picture could also just be dirt but it reminds me of how my ivy looked before it started dying, it also had those tiny little brownish/black "egg" like spots all over, please help

Context: LeopardsAteMyFace is a subreddit for reveling in the schadenfreude when someone suffers consequences from something they voted for or supported or wanted to impose on other people. A large majority of the subreddit's existing content comes from posts on Twitter. Following recent events, the mods decided to ban all twitter content, and the community has questions.

I think screenshots should still be allowed. Banning the Leopard Party main communication channel will be bad for the sub.
So we want people to post screenshots and no link to verify so they have to go searching on twitter for that post to verify? No, ban means ban.

The person who went there looking for the shot gave them traffic, anyone verifying gives them traffic, and the goal is just, no traffic. So simply, no traffic for Elon should be the goal.
I can't say I agree with the whole ban of content in general. Links, absolutely. Ban them entirely. But content in general being banned - I mentioned in another thread - is an "head in the sand" kind of methodology. It is still important to have an eye on what's happening and to share to others in order to keep people properly and promptly informed on what's happening. It's also important to know who to call out and who to push back on.
The problem is that viewing, even with adblockers, does in fact finance Nazis (and for a screenshot someone has to view it and as soon as someone fakes a screenshot enough people will head over to Twitter to see if the post is real). And the whole point of this endeavour is to no longer support a Nazi.
Fully in support of banning Xitter links, for sure. But most subs enacting this ban are still allowing screenshots. And I think Xitter is a primary source for a lot of content here, so banning the screenshots in addition to the links could impact this sub pretty severely.
It‘s time for Twitter to fully die it‘s deserved death

that saying doesnt even make sense in this context. twitter is the main source of content for this subreddit, disallowing screenshots of it will severely hurt the subreddit. we're not compromising with nazis, we're trying to compromise with the moderators to continue making fun of nazis.
If you can’t find and display Leopards eating faces on the Internet without it in some way helping pay the rent for a Nazi propagandist, I don’t want it on this sub and neither should you.

So when i started my job, it was a small company. the majority of employees are all nepo hires related to the owner.
its a tech company and they didnt care what we did during downtime. one thing i quickly noticed was that there were only 2 other people that werent related to the family that worked there.
everyone that is in the family literally just played video games all day and ignored tasks that came in leaving the other 2 people (and myself) to do it.
the work was super easy so i didnt care.
the other 2 people didnt do anything during downtime except sit in their office staring at their phone.
fast forward 6 months later from my hire date (8 months ago from present) the owner implemented a new policy regarding what we do during downtime and everyone had to sign it.
we werent allowed to use our phones, play any games, watch videos etc.
a week later everyone in the family is still doing the same thing they were before except they have an IT person monitoring us now and when i turned on netflix they gave a warning to me.. as we walked back past the offices of everyone very clearly playing online games🤣
anyway i just play on my phone now.
for context we dont have a timeclock or anything we just show up and work, if we call out sick we send an email..small business stuff.
well 3 weeks ago they had everyone install a software on our computer that monitors mouse movements, has facial recognition, tracks how long youre active on your computer, takes screenshots of your desktop (not sure how that works if its manual request or after some time passes)
when i google the software it says its basically for a WFH job.. but we are in an office.
they also made us install 3 othe programs to monitor activity, autolock the computer if theres no actions after 3 minutes, and a few other annoying features.
i also found out they can see our screens live with just a few button presses.
after 3 weeks of this i think ive had enough of this.
the company has 25 employees and makes 5 million a year, the tech runs itself and it seems like the people in charge are incredibly bored and suddenly want to start fucking with us now.
i googled the software in question to see what its capable of.. i guess no one else did and just believed them when they were told it was easier to do this isntead of figuring out a time clock for everyone.
i talked to 1 of the 2 people that arent in the family and she said that shes just thankful to work there.. like bro we are paid $19/hr and they refuse to give us raises.. and we do the majority of tasks.
the micromanaging is unbearable but when i said this i was looked at like i was crazy.
im in an area where there isnt really work available without driving 2 hours one way to a different county.

My cat Romeo that literally walked into my parents house 10 years ago and never left. The neighborhood kids call him Wonton. My parents keep their back door open often for my dogs to go in and out for the bathroom and he just walked in one day and never left. He did this when I was still living there and in high school so I took care of him until I left, my parents love him too and I didn’t want to take him from his home.
He is an inside/outdoor kitty in my parents really close knit neighborhood so all the neighbors know him. He even gets fed at other people’s houses sometimes. The neighborhood kids started to call him Wonton. And he responds to both Romeo and Wonton 😂😭 he is the sweetest cat, I’ve never met another like him.
